This is great, actually. Our worst fear was that Stan would walk the third set and that would be it. Now we have a match on our hands and even if he does win the third set, Nadal has done enough to be competitive and to ensure that the match doesn't have that bitter, deflating feel that it threatened to have when Stan won the second set.

That's sports in general unfortunately. There are lame fanboy wars wherever you go.

This is true. Still though. First Stan has to actually WIN the game for us to be having this discussion.

daaaaaat backhand. He's got his focus back it seems.

Yeah, I'm one to just enjoy the matches, and of course I have my favourites, but I don't go in for all this Muggray, Nadull, Olderer nonsense. I guess it really ruins some peoples day if their guy doesn't win.

Stan will hang in there, though. He did it against Djokovic who has so many playing moods you'd think he was bipolar. Just need to find his concentration again.

Well, I gotta go to sleep now. I just hope this ends in a way that is not gonna leave a bitter aftertaste, regardless of winner.

Goodnight Twilight Zone Tennis.

There's no joy in watching this match. The players don't seem to enjoy the fight either.

When we look back on this final for Nadal's 14th GS, what will have been the worse injury, his back in set 2 or Wawrinka's head in set 3?

You won't be looking back on this final for Nadal's 14th GS.

Game is actually watchable again now, at least.

You have to be cold blooded in sport. You can have good sportsmanship by not yelling out c'mon or whatever when a guys injured but you have to take blood when its there to be taken.

This could become a fascinating case for the field of Sports Psychology.

Doesn't seem that complicated.

Wawrinka in the zone, wins Set 1.

Nadal gets injured, Set 2 is a joke.

Wawrinka loses focus because Nadal is obviously barely playing, but then Nadal's injury is also getting better, giving Nadal an advantage early in Set 3.

Now the question is whether Wawrinka regains his focus or Nadal regains his full health faster. Seems to me like right now Wawrinka is regaining his focus, now that he "doesn't feel bad" for Nadal anymore, since he's actually playing Tennis again.

So.... hopefully Wawrinka is focused enough for at least winning Set 4.

There it is.

Prediction: Whoever wins Set 4 wins the game. (ha.)

If Wawrinka doesn't find his focus again now, he never will. And Nadal is only getting better the longer the game goes on.
