Yeah :/ Doesn't help that the outfit is plain as fuck too. Funny enough I think each of her 20 outfits or so in Beyond look more inspired than this while staying Ellen Pagish ordinary/casual.

Yeah, the outfit is definitely adding to the overall worn out look. What's really striking is that she didn't look so aged in The East. Perhaps they've aged her for the movie so it fits with how old her character is?

You can't use muscle Magneto and have a

1) Holocaust survivor
2) Someone so overpower that he don't even need to use his arms to lift a fork

Pretty much. I like that the movie Magneto isn't ripped. Doesn't make sense for someone who has Magneto's power to be all that built. Same with Superman, but that's a different discussion altogether.

They all look terribad. After the boring trailer and now these bad costumes, it's like Singer and Fox just don't get it.
Look at the Marvelverse movies guys, they're bright affairs with streaks of adventure, suspense and humour.
Emo Superhero's were cool a decade ago, but the wheel has turned.

Too bad the marvel movies are all boring as shit. Suspense? What film?

And when one with really good humor comes out (iron man 3) it gets hated on the most

Marvel movies have suspense? Anytime something interesting happens, they just retcon it anyway since Marvel is scared as fuck of doing anything surprising, or pissing off fanboys.

I prefer it to this...

Makes Wolverine look tiny by comparison.

There's a middle ground here. Someone like John Byrne is the best balance IMO.

And Magneto should make Wolverine look tiny. Wolverine is supposed to be short as shit, which is one thing that the movies have never gotten right.

Magneto works because even tho Jackman is really tall, McKellen makes him look like a scared small puppy when they are together.

I like John Byrne's interpretation, but there's something about Jack Kirby's chunky, ill-fitting costume wearing Magneto. And Neal Adams' crazy elder statesman Magneto.

Yeah man. McKellen and Jackman sell it. As big as Hugh is he still looks so unthreatening when he's around magneto. Large part because of his power but I think their performances sell it too. Ian don't gotta be buff.

Ian could always wear a suit like M. Bison does in the Street Fighter movie. Cause Raul wasn't big at all and was also old.

lol i'm never getting cool comic book x-men :(

The entire basis of a primetime television show.

The one shot on the Thor 2 blu-ray.

Avengers eliminating Thor 1's ending with a throwaway line.

Comic book characters always come back to life.

What they did with Mandarin deserves retconning. Haha.

As if Thor just wasn't going to appear in Avengers.

...Wait. Why are we talking about this in here?

McKellen's build doesn't bother me much, it's more so that he's just really old to play Magneto(even when he was casted in the first film). That being said, I enjoy his performances.

Well I'm pretty glad that the movie makers are not trying to make every superhero look exactly like that then. If that's the norm then Rob Liefeld drawings are starting to make sense.

Thank you.

And this is part of the reason I'm not that gungho on the idea of full color individual costumes. The X-Men are a team and school. Think more private military than Avengers.

The closest to the comic book their costumes should be are the First Class suits. Now given Wolverine has his own movie series I'm shocked they haven't introduced some variation of his classic costume archetype yet. Though the blue and yellow just flat out won't work. Some variation of his brown costume or X-Force suit could.

Yeah in a recent interview I watched and all the Beyond making of footage she looks perfectly fine as well. Maybe it's just here, some of these posters look like bad shops anyway. Let's see how it comes across in the movie, I guess quite a few of those outfits will look better in motion.

The problem with the x-men movies is that Magneto has to be a holocaust survivor which is becoming more and more problematic the more time passes. The comic books found a way around it but the movies can't put a 35 year old on screen and say he's a holocaust survivor, unless they plan on setting every future X-Men movie in the past.

I'd imagine they are going to have to erase the holocaust part pretty soon.

God, I remember how Colossus got zero lines in X3 even though he was a member of the team and on the cover/poster and everything.

I can't imagine for this film...

The outfits are just iconic and such. Also look awesome.

I mean, you take inspiration from the outfits.

Like the shopped Logan mask, or the shopped green outfitted Rogue.

Certain things are just iconic.

I consider bastardizing a great parallel to Tony to be something to retcon.

And really? Thor 1 appearring in Avengers was explained via dark matter from Odin. So wasn't a retcon.

EDIT: The answer to the Holocaust problem is simple. Have Magneto reveal he uses a portion of powers to slow down aging process.

Also fine with Coulson dying issue. Makes Nick Fury look like a douche which he is.

Link to shopped Rogue?

Jesus you would think it would be easy to just dye that costume green. Even forest green.

If I remember correctly, in all three films Colossus only says one line: "I can help you!" to Wolverine in X2.

Yeah but in X3 he just said "Yeah, she took off" while carrying a TV with one arm lol. And, that was while billed as a main character and not just a cameo like X2 XD

In first class. I thought he was one of the few good things about x3 though. Kelsey grammar was awesome. And he looked like beast in the Disney movie

Why does everyone hate color these days? or why do these companies think we hate color?

Magneto wore fucking purple and red, and now wears white and black.

Wolverine wore brown/yellow and blue and yellow.

Amazing how in 2014 people still have this "it doesnt translate from comic to live action" mentality. Didn't seem to stop the Avengers from making bank, or any of the other movies featuring Captain America or Thor.

edit - During this mini rant. I wanted to say "they might as well make the sentinels black and gritty instead of purple"..then I see Future Sentinel is exactly that.

To be fair, they all have context. Thor is from an alien society. Captain America is a walking USA propaganda piece. Iron Man doesn't give a fuck and paints his suit like he would any one of his cars.

What is the context for Wolverine to wear a mask along with a blue and yellow uniform? What is the context for Magneto to wear his comic book style purple and blue spandex? It's not so easy to do the same way they have context to the helmet. Context is how you make it believable instead of goofy.

I love how people worry so heavily on the heroes looking ridiculous in the movies when their action, situations and stunts are far more ludicrous

To be fair Magneto and Fassbender,Nimrod, Beast, Blink and Bishop look good. Warpath looks like comic warpath. Notice how the ones that resemble there comic unifroms look the best.

The rest. Meh.

And a lot of these could be fixed relatively easy as shown by photoshops. Other is just doing unique things. Also make Colossus more bulky. He looks weak. And just give him a pair of jeans. Nothing more.

Bobby, remove the goatee and have ice start coming out of his right shoulder and have his left arm be solid ice.

Sunspot make him normal till he goes Sunspot then do his deal.

That's not even out yet!

Also, I don't know if that really counts - there was a definitely a real Ten Rings terrorist group in Iron Man 1 and 2.

it's a comic movie. they don't need context..

Man of Steel made nearly 700 million. aside from being a darker blue, which is fine, it's close to what the comic represents. He has no context to wear a dark blue spandex suit and no one cared.

but i guess "he's Superman!" is going to be the excuse here.

obviously because no one is going to watch a Wolverine & Friends movie if he's wearing some goofy blue and yellow? Put him in black? INSTANT BILLIONS!

Again, Superman's context is it's an alien suit. Yeah, they need context if you want it to be taken seriously. Doesn't matter if it's a comic book movie. You can get away with it when the tone is lighter or comedic, but that's never really been X-Men's thing.

Again, give me one good reason to put Wolverine in his comic book costume, or give him a mask. It doesn't even really make sense in the comics besides "I don't know. Because comics."

To make him look feral and inspire fear.

Comic reason.

Take the human factor away and makes you think you going to die.

That is why.

Rogue wears green because she likes the color.
