hello? priority already exists in Smash, just give Extremespeed super high priority

That's exactly what I was saying. Wouldn't have mentioned it otherwise. And saying it should lose to specific things, although that might be a little overkill if some of those things are on the lower end and extremespeed beats everything but a select few things.

But he should do something for extremespeed's priority boost

This is the one thing about comp. smash and fighters that drive me crazy. If I was button mashing, I couldn't press buttons that fast. How much caffeine is in their bloodstream to do this?

Since when could pika abuse serene grace flinch hax lol. Would love to see pichu shenanigans.

Togekiss confirmed as Fairy type representative. Tripping replaced by paralyzation and flinching at all the wrong times.

Actually wait, a better example of Serene Grace being OP

SHAYMIN-SKY: Prepare to die edition. Small, ultra fast, with substitute, leech seed, seed flare that makes you weaker to special moves temporarily, and air slash.

Ice Climbers vs Shaymin-Sky is a 10-0 matchup tho

I'm confused. Could you explain.

Even better:
Dunsparce

Man, a serene grace pokemon in smash would be amazing. Especially if they rely on paraflinch. The rage and stories of pulling one's hair could spread outside of pokemon websites

Parental bon...err Family bond icebeams/seismic tosses too strong.

Pikachu is like reverse Link/Ness, good in every game (and #1 in Smash 64)

and Fox too, they even managed to rotate the cycle (Pikachu: #1 in 64, barely in top half in Melee, in between in Brawl; Fox: #1 in Melee, barely in top half in Brawl, in between in 64)

Sakurai really should drop a newcomer in a regular daily update, outside of a Direct, just so fans know it can happen, and go even crazier with their nightly speculation.

what if
there are no more newcomers

(where's the proper meme image for this, I forgot what it's called)

Yes. I remember when Ike was revealed this way, suddenly anything was possible.
I distinctly remember Ike's reveal. It was in August, before I went on a family trip up north. I loaded the pictures on my mp3 player and stared at them in wonder while everyone else snoozed in the car. (Well, except for the driver -- I hope the driver wasn't sleepy, or we got really lucky!)

Diddy Kong and Pokémon Trainer came not too long later.

P Trainer's reveal blew my mind. I had never before considered the possibility of the switching pokemon concept.

That was the most surprising reveal to me too, more so than the 3rd party characters. It just seemed (and still is) so creative and outside-of-the-box-thinking with the Pokemon series in mind, albeit you still end up playing as Pokemon =P

same

playable charizard was like

one of those pipe dream characters I've wanted since smash 64, alongside james bond and goku
Pokémon Trainer is such a perfect character. Squirtle, Ivysaur and Charizard being together made each of those characters more interesting than they would've been alone. They're the perfect embodiment of the 1) team aspect of Pokémon, 2) the training aspect of Pokémon, 3) the different types of Pokémon, 4) the evolutionary stages of Pokémon, and 5) the classic Kanto starters that everyone can recognize and appreciate (and no, I'm not a 151 elitist).

I thought the Pokemon Trainer was really unfun though, like Ivysaur and Charizard especially were just awkward to control and didn't have any good moves. Plus the stamina thing...

Cool idea, bad execution honestly.

Ivysaur was the best character out of the 3 in terms of gameplay, priority, and killing power.

Ivysaur's tilts are great and her aerial game isn't that bad, the only thing that held her back was the tether which Project Mahvel fixed.

I disagree. I thought all three of Pokémon Trainer's Pokémon were a blast to play. Ivysaur was like an anti-air tank, firing projectiles out of his back, and was just plain fun to scamper around on all fours, grabbing fools with your whips. And Charizard had the most badass forward-air, where he flaps both wings forward in a colossal bitch-slap while spewing fire.

....Squirtle was clearly the best of the 3 in Brawl

Pokémon Trainer is my favorite Brawl newcomer. All three of his Pokémon are unique and fun to play as, and it's just such an ingenious concept for a character. He's the best way to represent the Pokémon games.

That's how I feel about them too. They all need to be buffed to even be considered decent.

I'm eager to see Pokémon Trainer return. The only change I want is for Charizard X to be the Final Smash. The trainer switches to Charizard (unless he's already out) and then Mega Evolves to let Charizard wreck shit. And X is the way to go since he's more iconic and got special treatment in the Red and Blue anime. Mewtwo can Mega Evolve into Y and represent Y that way.

While I didn't particularly like playing as PT (he just didn't click with me), I agree with your assessment.

I did appreciate that hidden "Type Advantage" knock-back that Sakurai sneaked into Pokemon Trainer, even though it made Ivysaur kind of meh due to the overabundance of Fire moves in the game and the lack of Water and Grass moves.

What could be some of his other pokemon though? Would they just cram the Starters, of different gens then Mewtwo, Jigglypuff and Pikachu. Would it all just be starters? Would it be three random pokemon that are really popular? I think it'd be interesting.
