Super Smash Bros Wii U & 3DS Thread 4: New Year, Old Arguments

What does everyone think of this size/proportion for Ridley?

As a casual player who plays Smash pretty much solely drunk with friends with items on, I still like a ton of what Project M's added. Mewtwo/Roy are obviously awesome, but I really like some of the new movesets. Making Ganon, Ivysaur, Sonic actually not shit is so great. I just wish they didn't completely remove every single Brawl stage with random elements. The Warioware stage is awesome...!
Just delete the Stages folder from your SD card if you want vanilla Brawl stages back.

Yeah some of the levels were disappointing in Project M. Didn't care for what they did to Green Hill Zone...

On the flipside, I love that they brought back certain 64 and Melee levels <3 Also glad they replaced crappy Brawl levels like Hanenbow (or whatever that weird water stage was) and Spear Pillar.

Green Hill zone was yucky.

And Spear Pillar was my favorite stage. Nothing quite like tossing live 'uns into the laser blasts and adapting effortlessly to the control screw when everyone else was fumbling.

What does everyone think of this size/proportion for Ridley?

Ridley is too wide.

In all seriousness, I think that'd be alright. The pelvis would need to be moved up and the legs stretched, but that could work.

btw, I've been modding and compiling an ultimate version of Project M and I think I'm finally done.

I used Patt Anderson as a template, so I'm sorry if it looks sorta similar but I made some key changes with models and CSS/CSPs and what not.

I'll post a link soon, but if this isn't against the rules could you guys try helping me test it out for freezes/bugs and what not? The file's about 1.6 gb with everything in it.

EDIT: Here's the link: Project M: The Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold

Anyone else like to help me look for bugs/freezes in Versus mode and Special Brawl?

Thanks a ton and PM me any issues, hope you guys like this version of Project Mahvel as wacky as it is.

But like I was saying earlier, I hope that they have a "Crew Battle Mode" because a lot of the FGC/Smash Community people like repping their teams without having to actually go into team battle.

Crew Battles are always so much fun and so hype. Salt everywhere.

Project M's WarioWare stage is dumb. They went through all of the trouble to make Wario's moveset true to what Wario actually does and then stripped all of the character from the WarioWare stage completely.

And Norfair without the rising lava is just visually and thematically silly.

They made it so that those stages were competitively viable for counterpicks.

If you dislike it, you could always delete the PM versions from the folder and keep everything else.

They removed certain gimmicks for a reason and threw in a good balance of other fun stages. I just wished they threw in Poke Floats...

I mean I could always add it in but still...

I don't like how they shoehorned the "omg combos" shit into everywhere.
Then I take it you don't like Melee or 64 either?

Holy shit, that is perfect. Thanks!
Better yet, just delete the ones you don't like instead of the whole folder. Here's a list of the stage names as they appear on your SD card.

Because those games had combo systems shoehorned into them just so every character has combos, yes.
And what exactly makes them shoehorned? If Sakurai had released Brawl exactly as Project M, would you also considered the combos shoehorned?

BTW, every character in Smash 64 is capable of 0% to death combos.

"OMG Bowser doesn't have any combos. Let's give Bowser ridiculous combos and hit strings."

If Sakurai had released Brawl exactly as Project M, would you also considered the combos shoehorned?

Yes. But Sakurai didn't release it exactly as Project M, because the original games (each and every one of them) have stage hazards, items, and other aspects of randomness to them.
Brawl in particular is a slower game by its nature. It clearly was not intended to have combos for every character (because otherwise they would have them), especially with characters that are supposed to be sluggish such as Bowser or whatever.

BTW, every character in Smash 64 is capable of 0% to death combos.

I've played Smash 64 competitively for a long time, I know what the entire roster is capable of. Please don't assume I've never played a Smash game before Brawl just because I don't like how a Brawl mod plays. I'm not an idiot.

This coinciding "omg how can you not like faster gameplay or combos, you must've never played Melee" shit is exactly why I also can't stand Melee anymore. Go play your Project M, but don't be acting all pissy on me because I don't like that dumb mod.

ah, of course, the typical Sakurai defender

Uhhh, the thing about Bowser in Project M is that since he was stupidly slow in Brawl they gave him a lot of super armor to compensate and actually keep up with other faster characters like Fox, Falco, Sheik, Squirtle, etc...

Project M is the best of both worlds.

Project M is okay but I wish someone would release Brawl 2.0 that has Brawl gameplay but fixes such things as character balancing and tripping. Melee's gameplay is too stiff for my liking, I prefer Brawl's more fluid gameplay.

Wait, what's wrong with enjoying the game as is and having an opinion on M like Arremer does? I like Brawl as is, too. My gripes pale in comparison to what the game has to offer. Making "boxes" like that is a pretty shallow way of showing your disagreement with a statement made.

Has anyone seen this rendition the the popular second opening to Attack on Titan? It's pretty great.

That was put up yesterday, I believe =)

You can think that, and feel free to do so, but just because I don't like how Project M plays doesn't mean I
- am an idiot
- don't like fast paced games
- never played a fast paced game
- agree with everything Sakurai says and does
- like every flaw of every Smash game ever
- any combination of the above

But apparently not liking how the game mod plays and feels makes me all of that.

You're not gonna convince him otherwise.

He, like any other human being, has an opinion and although you may not agree with it, you should respect it.

It's fine if he doesn't like Project Mahvel, don't coerce or convince him otherwise.

That being said, you're free to get other people who haven't tried Project M a go at the game and hopefully they'll enjoy it.

I particularly love PM, Melee, and 64 and I enjoy most of the community. I do see where he's coming from and if he's willing to give things another go then he will.

I'm not fond of Brawl and I really dislike when people try to convert me like many PC gamers. Like shit, I'm on this site for a reason, I should know my preferences and what I'm looking for. If I don't, I'll ask; don't try to push me over and make me spend money on shit you like.

I may prefer competitive Smash, but I respect that casual players have their own preferences. As long as they keep key features and gameplay that made Melee and PM great, casuals can have whatever they want. Even characters I hate, I could give less a shit as long as they bring back the fast paced action and gameplay.

I didn't choose the guys with the stage complaints for a reason, those are legit
"it's not the developer's intent" is bullshit

Pic of the day. When Lucario shoots out Aura from its hands to fly with ExtremeSpeed, you can control its flight direction. If Lucario's Aura is fully charged, it can fly extremely far, so be careful not to accidentally launch out of the area.

Lucario gets an Iron Man moveset and skin? Nice.

Lucario sucks

When's today's picture due?

Even this seem to have gotten a boost

lucario has been really nice to look at visually lol

Thank you. You're good in my book.

I wasn't even the one who brought up the developer's intent in the first place. My initial point was that I don't like giving characters combos just for the sake of giving them combos (i.e. shoehorn combos into the game).
Then I was asked if I would think they were shoehorned if that was how Brawl was released. Don't cherrypick shit to call me out on without reading the context.

I didn't say you were an idiot nor bashing your liking of Brawl, I was just giving an example of why they changed Bowser in Project M.

Lucario is getting those buffs! Look at him! lol

yes, and your justification was that normal Brawl didn't have them, which is essentially a fallback to developer's intent
I'm not cherrypicking anything

Wow, even Lucario's recovery improved when he takes damage? That is... on one hand, kinda neat. But on the other, it kinda skews the risk/reward of increasing his Aura towards reward, doesn't it? I guess the only way to kill a Lucario will be to gimp him or knock him straight to the blast zone.

Fancy. Luigi's nose is in the shot.

What stage is this on, Battlefield?
