Me. What part do you have an issue with?

I mean 90s is arguably the one time that America & UK were putting out genuine bangers. Duke 3D, System Shock, Doom, Tomb Raider, Wipeout….there's a time to be cynical about the West but the 90s were not it lol

The old Epic Megaboards, for UT 99, were something special. When they closed and everyone migrated to the GTF forums, that was even specialer.

Miss those peeps big time.

Mannnn I wish I had some of the messages from Star Ocean: The Second Story board on GameFAQs.

There was one dude whose whole schtick was making fun of Bowman, he talked just like GigaBowser GigaBowser and would always say FISHBIRD ATTACK.

Some annoying weebs would always write "Crawd" instead of "Claude" because they thought this was somehow more true to the Japanese or something lol

And of course you had VeghEsther dispensing his sage advice, which was to use the Bloody Armor trick as the solution to literally any problem.

I used to be on IRC, not so much on Message boards so my dumb shit is likely lost to time, hopefully.
I did get invited to the then brand spanking new Gaming-age forum and made an account. Never interacted much there, I remember getting really annoyed with the reactions to a thread where I talked about emergent gameplay in a multiplayer setting.

One should be able to harvest a lot of cringe there with Wayback Machine.

Honestly, the Mifflin Devin one is my favorite of all of these but it isn't the type of content to be posted in neogaf (he gets a bit heated about his console of choice and says some no no words)

I wish I could find some of the posts from gaming age forum (before this forum relaunched). Some absolute gems there. I remember the opa opa movement that created a spin off forum of trolls and haters. It was glorious. I can't quite remember if that was late 90's or early 2000 though…

Definitely remember some Dreamcast focused forums in 1999 but all the ones I remember are long gone even internet archive can't find them.

I have been posting on message boards since like... 1997... the first message board I ever posted on was Secrets of the Sega Sages... which was late bought out by IGN and it slowly transformed into IGN codes, and the message board became IGN Boards. The original conception of that board was pretty wile. I wish I could track down all my old posts. But they are lost to time.

I was also a member of the original Gaming-Age Forums. I did not post there much. But I was there, under a different alias. I was also part of a few smaller fringe message boards... Sega related ones, I know I posted on the old DieHard Game Fan forums... I jumped from forum to forum. 90's message boards were quite wild.

Gay slap fights used to be better. These days everyone just tries to flex the diameter their asshole can stretch to on twitter.

Oh man that line-by-line dissection and rebuttal, just stunning. You just know kwarlord walked around with his head held high and his chest puffed out for the rest of the day. A great victory was won.

I would love to see ones from around major releases, what people were saying about Ocarina of Time, FF7 etc
The internet release reaction to all these sorts games was the same back then. "It was a pretty good game I guess but it was way too easy and short, for a god gamer like me, I beat in one session."

Your post brings nostalgia for the days of brazen & creative forum signatures. I sometimes miss not having a space to pack with AJ Rimmer quotes on boards these days.
