I wonder, genuinely wonder, about what's going through the heads of the cops standing guard there. Is the irony lost, or are their hands just tied and they need that pension for their kids, which I get....but yeah, I just wanna know the mind of the cops. An independent interview with them would be gold.

Whether you agree with the message, like the drawing or not, it's still vandalism. If you want to preserve "art" then it must be done on the property of someone who allows it. Anybody thinking this wasn't going to be removed is insane.

Yes vandalism which sells for a high price.
I could be wrong but not all of Banksy's graffiti work have been removed.
