What game have you been playing the longest?

I just realized that I have been consistently playing Fight Night Champion (Xbox) regularly online for 14 years. I play it at least once a week. They are still players online to fight against. Do you all have any games that you consistently been playing for a long time?

I used to do a annual playthrough of Baldurs Gate 2, then moved on to The Witcher 3.

Now I'm looking for another 'winter game' as I like to call them. I may try BG3 or DOS 1 or 2.

It once would've been Runescape, but I believe Minecraft would've taken over now as while I don't regularly play Minecraft anymore, I do log in for a modpack once or twice a year still and that takes many many hours.

I am not sure honestly,
I'd spent 200+ hours each on persona 4 golden and persona 5 royal in the last decade.
I remember played many DS & PSP games for over 100+ hours as well, though I don't have the data anymore (Dragon quest IX, suikoden tierkreis, persona 3 portable, etc). Mainly JRPG.
I've played 3 (Three) and kingdom rush series on my ipad / iphone almost everyday for relaxation especially when commuting after covid, have been for years, so if we are talking about longetivity, there's that.

If we can include franchise, definitely Lumines series for me. I've been playing them since PSP era, continue to Vita, Switch, and now Handhelnd PCs.

This game is timeless to me! I always enjoy it whenever I decide to fire it up again.

World of Warcraft - thousands of hours definitely the highest one for me adding up those two decades.

Modded Fallout 3 - over two thousand hours or probably even over three thousand combining my PS3 and PC modded version.

Modded Morrowind - over two thousand hours or probably even over three thousand combining my xbox and PC modded version.

Modded Fallout New Vegas - over two thousand hours

Resident Evil Resistance - over two thousand hours

Hearthstone - over two thousand hours

Modded Skyrim -Over a thousand hours close to 2000

Modded Fallout 4 - over a thousand hours close to 2000

Modded Oblivion - over a thousand hours close to 2000

GTA V Online over a thousand hours close to 2000

Warcraft 3 - over a thousand hours

Starcraft 2 - over a thousand hours

Starcraft - over a thousand hours

Big Bethesda and Blizzard fan here and they always delivered as least for the franchises I want from them.

COD World at War on 360 and HOMM3.

It's still active, but the player count is so low I cant get into a game anymore. It still says 300 online, but the lobby never fills out, nor does the game even let me join any random games. Last time I played was probably a year or so ago in 2024. Game came out Q4 2008. So 16 years!

At one time it was HOMM3. It came out 1999 and I played it off and on till I'd estimate about 2023. So 24 years.

Holy chicken.

Man, you are either extremely dedicated or insane. Salute.

Rocket League since launch. I'll take a few weeks off here and there but that's about it. Next would be R6 Siege with longer breaks, then Destiny 2. Used to be a pretty consistent COD player (now retired) but I would take an entire COD off past launch month if I didn't like it (WW2, Infinite Warfare, Advanced Warfare).

Still playing Mario kart tour on my iphone that I downloaded April 9, 2022. Played it today. I have multiple switches I should just buy a case and bring the dam thing with me, but I usually only get a few races in on my phone it might not be worth it.

Sonic Adventure 2 (still playing since the release)
Dead or Alive series
Ninja Gaiden series (excl 4th, its not an ng game)
Warcraft III (mostly og dota)
Diablo II
Starcraft II
Lineage II

There are plenty of games for the NES, SNES, Master System and Mega Drive that I've been playing regularly since the early 90s. Sonic 1+2, Super Mario Bros 3, A Link to the Past, Golden Axe, Bubble Bobble etc.

The Secret of Monkey Island also comes to mind (PC)

Crusaders King 3 is the only game I've played that I've ever clocked in more than 1,000 hours.

Other honorable mention would be the Mobile MOBA games Honor of King, who I probably have a lot of hours as well when I was in between jobs.

Halo, Doom, Borderlands, Duke Nukem 3D, Skyrim, Fallout, Assassin's Creed, Gran Turismo, The Witcher, Metaphor Re Fantazio, Cyberpunk 2077, Mass Effect, Resident Evil, Life is Strange, Mirror's Edge, The Walking Dead, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Devil May Cry, Battlefield, Bayonetta, Too Human, Metal Gear Solid, Godfall, Immortals of Aveum, Killzone, Call of Duty, Destiny, Outriders, Silent Hill, Alan Wake, The Evil Within, Megaman, Dark Chronicles, Rise of the Triad, Dying Light, Scarlet Nexus, Dragon Ball, God of War, The Last of Us, Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros, Bioshock, WWE, Soccer, Metro.

In terms of hours, probably BG2 or Diablo 2, but we didn't have a way to track game time back then.
My top three on Steam are Darktide (1110 hours), Terraria (1426 hours, not bad for a game that cost 2.5€) and... Grim Dawn!? 1702 hours, I remember reaching 1k hours but when the heck did it go that high...

In terms of longevity, probably Titan Quest. I've been playing it regularly since Immortal Throne in 2007, and am still playing the Anniversary Edition on Steam. I've been using TQVault, an external "muling" program to store your stuff, from the start, so I still have some weapons on my current characters that I've dropped almost 20 years ago, crazy stuff...

100% World of Warcraft with thousands of hours over 20 years.
Besides that probably a couple of multiplayer games + Terraria + Grounded with >100 hours
Nowadys i mostly play singleplayer games <20 hours

Probably something like The Last Ninja on Commodore 64, not for hours but the time it's been with me as something I fire up regularly just because I still like it, came out 1987. A collection was released in late 2025 btw, up now on Steam but will come to all platforms.

For actual playtime it's most likely Skyrim. I've had it on so many platforms and versions and hundred or so hours on each. No playtime counter but must be over 1000 hours. Interestingly I've still never finished it, I always drift away doing side stuff and then start over before the main quest is completed.

Elden Ring is up there as well with over 700 hours played. It can't beat Skyrim on total hours all versions combined but it does if I can only count one version, all those hours are on Steam alone.

World of Warcraft. So much time went into this that talking about hours isn't worth it. We're talking a couple full years.

Other games are CoD4 promod, Fallout New Vegas and the Hitman games.

EDIT - Changing my answer to Doom (1993). When I really think about it, this is by far the game I've played most throughout my life.

While I don't play it anymore, I played wow for 15 years. The first three were pure bliss. The next 12 was just trying to recapture that feeling. Never did.
Same, but for me it was 10 years. From 2005 till WotlK in 2009 was absolutely magical, afterwards it got too boring, too complex.
