PlayStation plus prices going up starting 5/20

I assume everyone on here losing their minds and throwing temper tantrums react the same way when anything else in their life goes up by this amount of money?

It's only gaming that generates this inane, hysterical discourse over such a pittance increase. People need to take a good long look at themselves and wobble their head if their reactions in this thread are genuine.

Ongoing market conditions? you ship your online membership through the gay hormoz shit around Iran, you fucking thieves ?

What the fuck this has to do with an online service that you already have installed, you greedy PoS mother fuckers!

But it's not your fault. It's the fault of the monkeys that still pay you fucking money and enable this shit behavior.

I have zero respect for all of these people, including GAF members.

this fucking shit needs to stop. period.

This forum is about videogames. If the price of milk went up I'm sure the dudes at NeoMilk would be up in arms as well.

You start by being complacent when a company tries to fuck you over for a few bucks, and you end up having to pay extra to play your games online for the last 13 years. One of the few powers we as consumers have is to complain when we don't like things.

No offense but maybe you should look at yourself as well, and wonder if you should be insulting your fellow gamers or the company that's rising the price for services that are free in other places.

That kind of attitude is why everything is a subscription now. Hell even my air conditioning repair guy and car washes try to get you with a subscription now. It's financial death by a thousand cuts.
I agree but I avoid most subs. So I'm not getting hit with a thousand cuts I'm just paying for the things I want. I don't pay the AC repair guy monthly and I wash my own car which I barely do cause I don't care.

Multiply that by 12 and then again by the number of years you've been subscribed to PS+. How much money have you paid for a few services (that are free in other platforms) and a bunch of games you don't even own?
So I did the math starting from the PS4 when it was cheaper but I still kept it at $80/yr. Came out to a little over $1k. That's 13 years of service. That's nothing. It cost me that much a year just to have my lawn mowed. I'd rather someone else mow it though so I can stay inside and play games.

I was talking to some of the new guys I train with at my gym and they are paying almost $50 more a month than me. I had no idea that prices even went up. I'm grandfathered into the old plan.

Yes, I called out Nintendo and Xbox previously for their retarded greediness.

All of these companies, even the ones you like, are scumbag assholes and have zero respect for you.

"That's nothing" lol. Dude with that money you could buy a brand new PS6 (probably) or get your lawn mowed twice as often.

But hey enjoy paying for stuff other people have for free. Bet defending the company feels better than anything else.

Exactly. I might like this or that companies' games but being a fan of a product shouldn't mean I have to defend them when they try to fuck me over a few pennies. People should have more respect for themselves as consumers.

You think people aren't up in arms over the ever-increasing price of groceries and GAS? Shit, everytime I go to the grocery store a few of my staple items have gone up from the week before.

So $11 month for new customers to play online, and no Cloud Gaming included.
10% increase on 1 mth, interestingly its a slightly larger increase on the 3 month (12%). Its also not an increase on the annual sub and this is for the Extra Essential tier, not the two higher tiers.

For people rage quitting I wonder if they read the detail and work out if it applies to them?

Regardless Sony are slowly boiling the frog. But this time it definitely is slowly.

You know good and goddamn well that people complain about price increases all the time, in every avenue of life, so why are you in here acting like a clown over a multi-billion dollar company taking a little bit of heat?

You don't have to suck these companies off all of the time.

You mean it's for the Essential tier, not the Extra tier. For some1 who cancels a sub if they're not playing a certain month, then resubscribe, they would count as new customer no? So this would eventually apply to millions of users even though it says New customers only.

I agree with the slow boiling frog. I think more price hikes will come before or after GTA6, but before next gen, especially for the Extra and Premium tiers. I can see Extra being $15.99 and Premium being $21.99 or $20.99, then $180 or $200 for yearly Premium.

I thought they would've done $19.99 monthly Premium, and $90 yearly Essential. That was the low hanging fruit. $11 Essential without Cloud Gaming is just way too much.

Ah my bad, i have them backwards in my head for some reason. Been ages since I stacked years, but its becoming relevant with both my PS and GPU ending in October this year.

Yeah for non stackers and intermittent users then they will all get hit with it sooner rather than later assuming they are on the base tier. Personally I think there is sufficient additional value that it is worth paying for extra. But they keep eroding how much additional value so I'm looking at it pretty hard now, at least this price increase doesn't factor.

Be interesting if they mix it up closer to PS6 in terms of structure, im dead certain GP is going to. An obvious way to go would be to carve out cloud gaming entirely into its own sub. Its a good enough product to stand on its own and if they are forced to price the PS6 high and/or have limited supply thats exactly what they might do and bundle it with the portal.

I canceled mine when they raised it above $60/yr. I thought it got too expensive at that point. They just keep making it worse.

Friendly reminder that on PC you don't pay for online multiplayer or cloud saves, and you get more free games on Epic every month than PS+ tosses at you.
I'd rather pay PlayStation than Tim Sweeney, but I'll pass on both and use SteamOS.

This thread should be bookmarked as a response to every single post about anti-woke people being just as bad.

The shit they have been throwing against the wall to chase that woke audience is why we are all dealing with these PS+ prices in my humble opinion. All those millions (if not billions) wasted is being paid back by those of us who never wanted the crap they pumped out in the first place.
The "why do you even care" morons cannot stop losing. All they know how to do is lose.

This is bu@%#^$#. AI boom and RAM demand or even oil is not related to PS plus. Im happy for some incoming changes in Sony like reviving classic IP, bringing back full exclusive, and rumored Yoshida is back. But about this one, Im angry, this is greed already especially they already increase ps5 and ps5 pro price by a huge margin.

How in the world did you manage that? Very good pricing, lol.

You could stack indefinitely years ago. The conversion when they brought in extra was capped. I know people stacked into the 30's.

I bought a metric fuckton of discounted PSN gift cards from Costco, stacked several years while discounted to extend my Essential sub, and then upgraded to Premium (capped around $200 or $250). It ended up being something like 8.5 years of membership, I think 10 was the max at the time.

Premium being as expensive as Gamepass Ultimate would be insane. Premium gets a single PS1 or PSP game per month.

"Herman, are you sure we should continue bankrolling these risky titles?"

Don't worry sweet thing. If it flops, my gamers will cover it.

Sony's $765M impairment charge against Bungie probably wiped out all of Helldivers 2's $$$ alone. Then add the $1.2B retention bonus to keep Bungie employees from quitting. So just these two Bungie costs alone are $2B combined.

Imagine paying for services you get for free everywhere else.
It's time for EU to protect the consumers and force Sony & MS to accept third-party payments options and stores on their platforms.
I would have disagreed big time previously. But Sony thinks it's acceptable to charge an online access tax and charge a lot more than previously for it. So if they want to screw over customers like they do in my opinion then I hope someone does show them how it feels when the tables are turned.

I don't think PlayStation executives play video games tbh. So raising the prices comes easiy to them, even though they shouldn't do this for this tier and should consider lowering it instead.

Guess existing subs don't know how to read. Makes sense 😂

Yeah, I saw the "new" part and thought this only applied to people who have never subscribed before. Not sure if I'm misinterpreting that, but if not - this doesn't apply to the majority of people on here who have a PS console.

But Sony is more profitable per dollar than ever. Why would they do this to the Gamers?

Same reason everything is increasing in price. Greed.

Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo are all the same.

These companies put their shareholders first. Customers are just tools to bleed money from.

Valve are different because they don't have any shareholders. They're a private company, which means they put the customer first.
