Yoshi and the Mysterious Book will run on Unreal Engine 5.

This engine is still rare on the Switch 2, as the console might struggle to handle it. So far, only Fortnite, Cronos: The New Dawn, and Layers of Fear (2023) currently use UE5 on Nintendo's console. Thus, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book will be the first Switch 2 exclusive to run on Epic's engine.

The discovery was made thanks to the licences assigned to the SideFXLabs, Stylized Post Process and KawaiiPhysics plugins (exclusive to this version) in the game's preload

Not sure if we officially know the developer for this one yet, but iirc Yoshi's Crafted World was also running on UE, so I assume Good-Feel is behind this one as well.

They haven't lost anything. Yoshi's Crafted World on Switch also used Unreal Engine.
