¤ Canada Cup 2012 ¤ Fighting game tournament ¤ Oct. 26-28th

-$8.95

Annoying that I won't be able to watch the whole thing without paying, unless I wait. But then again, I've become used to being a sucker by paying for streams lol.

Do they really expect people to trust them with $8.95 after last time? At least they're making fun of themselves with the emoticons and stuff, but that's no guarantee that they won't screw up again.

Funny part was I didn't pay for anything and had no commercials or any other issues that a lot seemed to be experiencing even if they paid, mine was a silky smooth experience (for free). Not sure why.

No when Daigo ask for people to pay for his trip + buy products from him (shirts). Remember when L.I Joe had Daigo's manager on the phone? I'm assuming his manager couldn't cut a deal with Lap Chi in time or he has other arrangements.

I'm telling you what I was told during a conversation with someone who organizes a tournament which is big enough to bring Daigo, and someone who is a top player who has had a rivalry with him for his entire career.
So you can say "No" all you want, I'm just passing on the information I was told.

Daigo 'Hollywood' Umehara

By $7000, do you mean he asks to be paid that amount to show up?

I would buy a stick if I needed another one. My TE r2 is still going strong, but that EVO stick is catching my eye.

If only I didn't get laid off. QQ

$7000 to appear for a tournament? A round trip flight would cost around $2000 (generous estimate). Let's say $1000 for stay at hotel.... where the hell does $4000 go? Do they also pay for Daigos entourage or something?

Thats what was communicated to me. It would explain why we never see Daigo in north america anymore.

I'm not trying to start any rumours or gossip and get anyone in shit though.

Interesting, thanks.

Wonder if he set up a road block because he doesn't feel like travelling as much anymore? The guy has nothing left to prove and seems to be in a comfortable spot in his life.

If I were Daigo I wouldn't go to Seasons Beatings but that's about it. He always has a big target on his head but why deal with hostility and pop offs from people that aren't even playing. Canada cup looks like a really good time though don't see a reason why he would set a road block for today tournament.

Jebailey dropping 7K large for that japanese man swag!

Jebailey didn't pay anything. He can tell you himself.

Trust me, you guys will see Daigo at more events.

He's really busy with what he does in Japan. A lot of you guys might not see it but he's always participating in something, whether it's Gunslinger Stratos related, Capcom related or through outreach school programs. He has a full plate. Not to mention 1 or 2 new projects he's just been tasked with (TBA).

Daigo is doing a school event this weekend. It's the same one he did last year.

So Daigo hasn't asked for 7k to show up to tournaments?

Really appreciate the clarification.

I was being sarcastic. ;) I don't see why anyone would pay him or any other player to show up.

There have been lots of things that have been said/thrown around in the past. I know specifically certain people at events have mentioned Daigo's manager has been asking for certain things in the past.

Of course, that's not something that Mad Catz approves of so we have stepped in to make sure that the community is happy with things and to avoid any situations where it would make us/our players look bad. As we are also supportive of these events and have close relationships with the tournament organizers, we have to do our best to ensure all parties are happy.
