Cliff notes from last night.

- F. Champ died.
- Drunken Xian lost too much money on money matches.
- Drunken Zhi on the mic with Sherry
- Drunken Zhi insisted they should fuck about 49 times within the span of 30 minutes and got shut down every single time.
- Zhi got friend zoned
- Fishstix + 0ffcast on the mic that lead to 0ffcast blowing up WNF/TRB pot monsters
- Zhi got censored
- Stream got shut down by 8.95! (haha j/k I think 0ffcast just got tired).

Certain players would come up to him and make sure he spelled their name a certain way (down to dashes, and spaces). Or if he did it wrong a week before they would get on him, and just annoyed him. So there are certain players at WNF/TRB who's name he will purposely do wrong.
 
Had fun at Canada Cup. Home for a few hours then off to Dallas.

All the side shots/comments/criticism about the FGC having fun at the event. You just have to be there.

Kadey, also you of all people need to learn. You should try getting out of the house once. And I don't buy that I'm busy with work shit. I'm going to kiss fubarduck when I see him in a few days. Let me know what I taste like if you ever make it out of the house.

Event ran fairly smoothly. Some of the people I met were cool. Performance in tournament stuff was garbage but did better outside of it.

Also, Marn sez he secretly reads GAF and sees the hate :p Him, Rayray and all of the Canadian Marvel players I met were hella cool this weekend. Ditto for Team Japan. One of the people in my group got video of Fuudo beasting in Connect4 at the afterparty (I was a victim too).

All of this good stuff said, experience was far from perfect, and reflecting now, probably because of a few bad/dumb things w.r.t. certain attendees. It doesn't make sense how childish/stupid/just plain fucking uncivil people can be. Some just need to get a reality check, learn some common sense and grow up. That Flash Metroid thing for instance just pisses me off and makes me not want to go to majors.

EVO is Vegas so there's that and I'll be there (most likely), but yeah. I get why drama turns people off of the weekly threads and why the FGC is niche of a niche -- it's really dumb to have to sift through stupid shit. People should just play.

Quick vent over. Despite the tone of this post, I still had a good amount of fun. Just had to smh at some of the stuff that goes on.

Fanatiq said that Bee agreed to play both Fanatiq and Knives pre Canada Cup.. However on the night of the MM, Bee only wanted to play Knives.

Fanatiq wasn't too happy with that.

Then Bee said he wanted himself and Knives to go before Fanatiq and Joker because he thinks Fanatiq wanted to leverage the money on the Joker winnings. Fanatiq said fuck that I already gave you one so I'm going first on this one.

In the end Fanatiq did get to go first and beat Joker 10-6, Bee vs Knives happened 2nd and Bee won 15-10 *I think*. There was no Bee vs Fanatiq.

In conclusion I don't think any American player going to do a big MM with any Canadian anytime soon (In Marvel that is).

I think unless your name is Pr Balrog, Justin Wong, Chris G, Yipes or F. Champ you don't really have a legitimate shot at winning a major.

Second for a guy like Fanatiq or Bee I think long sets really let them shine compared to a 3/5. Both of them do a lot of MM's, and I can see why. Plus it's a whole different monster than tournament. When I say that I mean the feeling you get in tournament and MM is completely different. Everyone has a different "high."

fanatiq claims that bee is supposed to money match him after he money matches knives. bee denies this. americans fight over it. flash metroid hates canadians for it (although the flash part wasn't in the video).

not really sure what the resolution was. it seems like bee caved in and finally agreed, but the money match never happened. he coulda said no, but he didn't so imo he shoulda played fanatiq. personally i think the terms were stupid to begin with. joker vs age fanatiq, bee vs age knives, and if knives loses to bee then bee has to vs fanatiq? why doesn't the contingency work both ways, i.e. if bee loses to knives then knives has to fight vs joker? why does the contingency even have to exist in the first place, i.e. why can't fanatiq just straight up challenge bee to a money match? it's like he knows knives is going to lose, and thus created some bogus backup plan. regardless, bee agreed to it and so should've followed through. but just because he didn't, i think it's pretty stupid to hate a whole country because of 1 guy.

To compete and see where you stand? To support the pot and community? Or some people get goals for themselves. You know like "I want to make it out of pools" or "I want to make top 8."

If everyone was like you there would be no FGC, since the tournaments would consist of 16 people tops.

Only real anomaly in there is Floe who won in early Vanilla days and has not come even close to replicating that performance again. Didn't include Mihe or Toomuchdamage because the tournaments that they won didn't have even a single one of the aforementioned players. The only players who have won multiple majors are Justin, ChrisG, Fchamp, PRRog, Viscant and MarlinPie in that order. MarlinPie won both his majors at an international event but he had to beat Combofiend and Fchamp to get those wins.

I was talking about the "long set" mentality. Why bother entering if you know that you don't do well in 3/5? That's all Fanatiq talks about, and yet he still enters tournaments. Seems really confusing.

Well Fanatiq did win ECT4. That one major alone covers all the other majors he entered and didn't win. And once again that $10 or $20 of his is supporting the community.
 
Only 4 players have won multiple events in Ultimate. Between those 4 players in Ultimate they have won almost 15 majors + EVO among them!

How many majors do you think there have been? In ultimate, those four have only won a few each. If everybody played at every major it might be more one sided or meaningful to compare, but mostly only half the cast shows up.

Say what you want about yellow card, but Chris G and Champ were totally there (physically at least).

In attendance numbers CC2012 Marvel wasn't a major, but by talent? Of course it was a major. Not even a question.
