007 First Light: Hands on Previews

WTF, this James Bond doesn't have license to kill.
He just has the same right as a normal civilian, to kill only in self defense situations.
Negative the dude has a license to do whatever the fuck he likes, game just took a nose dive

Yes, James Bond holds a "license to kill" as a "00" (Double-O) agent in MI6. This signifies authorization to use lethal force at his discretion in the line of duty, providing legal immunity under UK law for actions taken on missions abroad.

Key Aspects of Bond's "License"
  • 00 Designation: The "00" prefix indicates the agent has passed training in lethal operations, authorizing them to kill in cold blood while on assignment.
  • Official Duties: It is not a license to kill at will, but to act within the context of national security.
  • Revocable:
The license can be suspended or revoked by his superiors, as seen in the film Licence to Kill.
    • Limits: The license does not permit killing in a personal vendetta and does not apply to everyone.
The concept is derived from Ian Fleming's novels, where 007 and other 00 agents are authorized to operate outside traditional rules of engagement.

Everybody would just run and gun through the game otherwise? 🤷‍♂️ I can see why they would do that....from a "gaming" perspective.

I'm all for a 3rd person action extravaganza when done correctly. Nothing has topped UC 2 so far unfortunately.
When I first played Uncharted series it was interesting to see "Hollywood" style action movie in game form but for me the novelty of that wore off for a long time and just no longer interested in that type games anymore.

Fair enough. I don't think games have got anywhere close to the Hollywood style action as much as that game did. But that might be my rose tinted spec's talking, i've not played it since release.

These days I want my games to feel gamey, it's kinda my reason why I really liked Pragmata. It a game feels gamey ass game and not at all shy about it.

Funny you mention that game, I'm playing right now on the train. The most gamey game I've played in a while. Harks back to the 16bit era in a way. I'm enjoying a fair bit more than I thought I would.

Have there ever been previews where someone says look guys it's a bit shit really?

I dont understand the point of these previews when its just an extension of marketing
Yeah, I remember the DA: Veilguard impressions. "Return to form" and "The series Mass Effect 2 moment".

Nd was really a couple of generations forward with melee animations in tlou2 uh...
They were among the best, but it's more accurate to say that todays developers are a couple generations behind. It is honestly astounding how utterly terrible most devs are at their jobs these days.

In those few seconds, we know they got the animations nailed at least. Here's a fantastic breakdown of that:

The weight shifting and weapon handling are all *chef's kiss*

And we know rays are being traced. The rest, yeah will have to wait and see. With so much motion blur, there's not much to analyze yet.

None of the footage in that trailer was real gameplay. Everything was completely scripted.
