1 hour of ReCore gameplay with Major Nelson and Joseph Staten

That video was hilarious when he was dashing into the wall and immediately after Nelson's reply while reviving Max.

From my time with it just a few days ago, my feeling from it was a Mega Man Legends inspired game with Metroid Prime design principles. Which yes, meant it felt a bit like it was something that could have come from the 2000s if not for the graphics (technical and artistic), but I enjoyed my time with it. I'm someone who doesn't mind that style of game play (go in, shoot, loot everything, upgrade, move on) and can see myself messing around with the crafting and wanting to try different set-ups with the partner monsters.

My only dislike really is colour coordinated enemies, a tactic I'm not fond of in any game, but they at least gave me plenty of ways in the demo to still damage it even if I was running low on ammo, or just needed to weaken it a small amount so I could still the core.

It feels like a solid game, even if it's not one that will change the world or anything.

The stream looked really good compared to the 15 minutes demo.
Can't wait for next week to explore this world.

Last time I saw Joe Staten was about Halo 3 ODST, even his voice sounds different now (in my head at least) 7 years already, damn.

Regarding Play Anywhere, is there a limit on the number of Win10 devices it can be downloaded onto, i.e. I've got my laptop but also my desktop

I'm not 100% on this, but I'm pretty sure the number of devices isn't the issue. You can only play it on one device at a time. So if your buddy logs in on your Xbox while you're playing on PC, it'll kick you off.

I just went back and watched that Polygon footage everyone hated. The animations look the same...

Looking back, you're right! I think it's because the majority of what I saw in the previous video was combat that I didn't pay too much attention to the non-combat animations. Combat movement animation still looks really stiff and unnatural unfortunately.

So hyped for this. The price tag is definitely one of the reasons, but wow, they really made a huge game still. Impressive.

I picked this game up at Meijer(midwest store) today, they put it out early. Looking forward to trying it out.

•Colorful game
•Textures are meh, maybe the patch will fix it?
•Love the gameplay so far
•Had to restart the game in the first level after getting stuck in a gate that closed on me as I went through it. I didn't realize at first you had to hover over a button longer to keep the gate open haha.

Thanks bro, do you mind if I post your impressions in the preview thread?
Btw, even the writer of the game was getting stuck on that last bullet point lol

It's a shame this game isn't super hyped. #gategate should be a thing.

So I got my hands on a copy from Meijer as well. The biggest concern I have with the game right now is with its performance. There are a lot of framerate dips when the combat gets hectic, and there was one point where it dropped to what felt like single digit frames for several seconds (I wasn't in combat so I think this was bug/weather related). It's also got some pretty nasty pop in issues and long load times. I'm hoping whatever patch is out that I can't download fixes some of these things.

Otherwise, it's actually pretty cool. The animations are sort of jank when you're moving fast, but Joule controls surprisingly well. Feels responsive and not nearly as floaty as it has looked on some of the previews. The combat sort of reminds me of Jet Force Gemini on crack. In a lot of ways, it feels more like an action game than a shooter since the emphasis is on being evasive and keeping your combos going. Still pretty early on, but I'm looking forward to playing some more.
