I agree. The "like um.." happens to everyone, but Shane has to stop glancing at the camera so much. It's freaky. No hard feelings Shane.

I was at first looking for an arrow in the letters itself (the 'colored' part). BUT IT'S MADE OUT OF NOTHING.

I have a semi-problem with the 1UP show. While it is amusing to see some of my favorite gaming editors blab on about recent events, I do find other things about it little disturbing...

First off, is this suppose to be "funny" or serious? The stupid little intro at the beginning gives the impression that they were trying to make this some sort of actual "show" as opposed to a video podcast of nerds talking about video games.

Also: is there acting in this damn thing? Seriously, if some of these things aren't "scripted" then you guys lead the most boring lives ever. I notice some moments where I'm like "Why the heck did they throw that in? It wasn't funny. At all." Are you guys trying to make a faux-gaming news podcast with stilted humor thrown in?

Let me just clarify - I really like the show. It's a great way to learn about some new stuff going on in the week, but some things are a little annoying.
 
So far I've watched every single 1UP episode, and I love them all thus far. With all the junk on G4, the 1UP show is a breath of fresh air. It's as if the whole network is only 10% gaming related shows and news. Pretty disappointing for a network that labeled itself as being the only "24 hour gaming network".

EDIT:

I also find it strange that you insult the creators (the people behind of the show), then say you really like the show. That is pretty mean in my book.
 
This show rocks. It's both serious about games, "real", and funny at the same time.

Diggnation is a tech news vidcast. 1up Show is a gaming vidcast. Both rock at what they do. But comparing them when they're covering different topics. Is just retarded.

its almost there. Certainly the best game show out there, but thats no ringing endorsement.

I think it needs a little more production value and care to make it truly great. I also think it needs more reviews, not just a couple of people chatting about a game assuming the viewer knows what they are talking about.

Yea, after you've known about it for a long time you forget it's there even when receiving Fed Ex packages.

The "like" thing is really noticeable to me and pretty annoying. It's common even in the heart of Manhattan, which is supposed to be populated with some of the country's most cultured individuals.

So is it supposed to be funny or serious?

That's a good question and one that we really try not to answer ourselves when we make the show. What usually happens is that Jane, Ryan and I will sit around and brainstorm a bunch of excuses to talk about a handful of games we want to cover per episode. And if we come up with something funny, we throw it in there, knowing full well that it's a dry, intimate, insider-style sense of humor that not everyone's gonna get -- but then that's why there are the more substantial gaming roundtables and plenty of direct feed.

There are scripted moments in the show, and lots of improvisation of course, but it's slowly starting to all meld together.

We can't please everyone, but then again, that's not our goal. ;) Still, it's fucking awesome most of you love it, so keep the feedback coming. Thanks for watching.
