Can you see a list somewhere with stuff released at a certain year? Cause I sure don't remember what I used to listen to when I was 13. I couldn't afford records anyway.

allmusic.com.

It's a little awkward, but do an advances search for albums then look at likely genres.

I was 13 in 1989.

The albums in my collection from that year... (far less than an average year)

Paul's Boutique- Beastie Boys
Full Moon Fever- Tom Petty
Pump- Aerosmith
The Real Thing- Faith No More
The Raw and the Cooked-Fine Young Cannibals
Bleach- Nirvana
UHF- Weird Al

There's probably twice as much stuff from the last 4 months of 1988 in my collection, some of which is listed as 1989 on Wiki. Silly Wiki...

1983. The top 5 albums of that year:

Michael Jackson - Thriller
Men At Work - Business As Usual
The Police - Synchronicity
Daryl Hall/John Oates - H2O
Prince - 1999

What I actually listened to that year:

Social Distortion - Mommy's Little Monster
Jerry's Kids - Is This My World?
SS Decontrol - Get It Away
Corrosion of Conformity - Eye For An Eye
Husker Du - Metal Circus

To be fair, I did have a semi-hip older brother who got me into punk rock when I was 11 or so.
