10 Films To See In June (what are you watching?)

X-men and Super 8, probably Trollhunter as well.

Submarine if some friends want to go, it looks like it's kind of up its own ass though.

X-men #5? lol it's gonna be the best film of the summer, already like 98% on Rotten.

For me:

1. X-men
2. Green Lantern
3. Transformers

Super 8 feels off to me... hard to explain. The trailer looked kinda corny and predictable. Also didn't like how it centered on the two kids. Was hoping for a more adult-oriented blockbuster...

Where did you see Another Earth/Whistleblower? I missed them at Sundance/TIFF, can't wait to see them.

Salvation Boulevard got horrendous reviews at Sundance. The Last Mountain is really good, we managed to get an interview with the director, intense guy!

SIFF (seattle)

Yeah i'm not sure what to expect from Salvation Boulevard. I'd read several reviews before I chose the film, including some of the Sundance impressions, but I'd also read quite a few fairly positive ones, plus the premise is interesting.

The only movie I'm interested in is Super 8 and that doesn't even look that spectacular to me.

Also I don't know why but Cameron Diaz is still super hot to me despite kinda looking like a grandma.

X-Men: First Class and Super 8 for me this weekend. Will catch Green Lantern opening weekend as well. Might see Cars 2 if I'm bored. Will definitely see Transformers opening night if I don't get a press screening.

Troll Hunter will be on HD Net Movies some time here soon if anyone is interested in seeing it early and easily. I already have my DVR set.

It was number #2 for me, but after seeing it last night I had to bump it down. I didn't really love it, lots of flaws. It's certainly entertaining but I've liked all of Vaughn's films better.

It really benefits from the big screen, though, given the size of some of the creatures.

If you are interested in seeing the film and live close enough to a theater showing it, why not go see it? I can't imagine that the audience would be that poorly behaved, given that it is subtitled. That tends to weed out the idiots.

X-Men: First Class
Super 8

Transformers: DotM (should just name it Dark Side of the Moon and have Pink Floyd music playing instead of the movie)

I know you guys are pissed but wide releases I did not include were Judy Moody and the NOT Bummer Summer and Mr. Popper's Penguins.

Based on that list it looks like June is a very dry month for me (no-fap contest pun intended).

Cars 2 definitely though and I never knew about Super 8. I want to check Socialisme because I've always wanted to take a mediterranean cruise.

(I hate Ryan Reynolds like a plaque.)
Heh. For some reason "plaque" made me laugh a lot.

Mr. Popper's Penguins may be Jim Carrey's worst film ever.

And I haven't forgotten about The Cable Guy.

I think it is hilarious that Noah Baumbach was going to direct it. It would have been a massively different film.

I'm gonna see X-Men tomorrow. Other June picks are The Green Lantern and Super 8. I liked the first Cars a lot, but I'm not sure if I want to see the sequel. I love all things Pixar, but oh my Cars 2 looks very, very childish.

Because they don't look appealing or because you can't see them?
Because I can't see them! It just sucks having to wait for stuff like Submarine, Midnight in Paris, Tree of Life, etc. -- all films I've been looking forward to.

The closest theater to me that will be screening it is in Dallas, and that's about 2 1/2 hours away. Not really worth the drive to see one movie.

TROLL!!! Trollhunter is a great movie. You can watch it on demand now via iTunes. Saw it on my appletv last week. Amazing movie.

I saw this. Read any review, all say that even if you couldn't care less about auto racing, you can relate and get something out this movie. Honestly if you do not watch this movie I feel sorry for you.

Thanks for using full actors names in your write-ups now. I found past blurbs confusing at times.

Sorry! I usually take them from IMDb, which only uses partial names. From now, I'll do full ones.

Ah, yeah :( That stinks. I'm really interested in what people think about Midnight in Paris. I wasn't quite impressed with it, but seems to be getting an amazing critical reaction, as well as a lot of bank.

This summer movie season is kicking my ass. Saw Bridesmaids on Sunday, X-Men last Thursday, Hangover 2 and Kung Fu Panda 2 not long ago either. Aiming for Troll Hunter, Green Lantern, and Super 8 this week. This is only the third week in June. :(

Submarine beat everything I've seen this year. Instant classic. Midnight In Paris was terrible unless you're 785 years old and live near Lincoln Plaza apparently, because they loved it. X-Men: First Class was a bland and lifeless joke of a movie.

lol

all the old people in my theatre loved it too.. like it was the funniest shit ever

i thought it was just alright.. all the "best woody allen film in years" hype kind of had me expecting more.

I agree. I thought it was just a decent movie, but now there is Oscar talk for it and stuff. I just don't understand.

All the buzz from the film has been positive. There's no reason to put it there other than snobbery.

Yeah, it just look less terrible than Revenge of the Fallen. Still not expecting a whole lot, despite the buzz.

Pretty easy to claim that title, given Allen's output over the past decade.

I thought Vicky Cristina Barcelona and Match Point were far, far better.

Vicky was alright, can't say it left much of an impression on me. I fucking hated Match Point; I haven't seen Midnight in Paris yet, but it'd be a hell of a feat for me to like it less than Match Point.

Transformers 3

Bad Teacher

I've already seen X-Men and Super 8, but I will see the rest of them.

I apologize for putting Bad Teacher on the list. I just got back. It had a few funny moments, but other than that it was pretty dry. I just really dislike Cameron Diaz, except for Knight and Day recently. Segel and Timberlake are barely in it too.
