what kind of sorcery is this? i simply cannot escape this game, it became a tradition for me to just visit that world every few months just to explore and do some side quests,i don't even like the gameplay, the crazy part is, i've never modded it before, and i KNOW once i do that that's another 1000 hours down the drain

does anyone else feels the same?

Simple answer: no.

Skyrim has nothing remarkable fun or worthy for exploration. Loots and enemies are basically rng over rng. Not to mention discovering a place in Skyrim worth nothing but a fast travel point, if the place is really usefull anyway(most of times they're not). Also you aways gonna be punished in the game, thanks to a dumb scale mechanic that scales the loot and makes unique itens worse if you have lower level than the game wants.

When you take a closer look, Skyrim is nothing but a mediocre experience overall. The only thing that saves it is the mods. Mods transforms the game.

Most overrated piece of garbage ever made. Tried it like 5 times. Horrific combat, boring slow movements, laughable NPC dialogue and so bug ridden that it takes you out of immersion. Will never ever understand the obsession with such a shit game.

oh wait, there is: The Elder Scrolls Online, which by now I guess is already the biggest TES ever and you can play with friends in reasonable parties of 4 rather than the idiotic 16+ bozos chatting and pushing buttons until a central target is done of traditional MMO. Or play solo as usual.

why TESO hasn't received any attention is beyond me. I'd die for a VR mode...

I like it too, but I haven't put those kinds of hours into it myself.

I am avoiding starting the Dragonborn quests this playthrough until I've gone and explored around the world some. I know that's old news to many of you but I only started playing this on switch and it's all still new to me.

For those who really resonate with TES - especially Morrowind forward - it's more about the sense of place imho. Sure there are games that do certain elements much better, but few equal the sense of inhabiting a magical "otherworld" like TES. For the right type of player, it's so easy to get lost within.

Next gen console + 4k mods + 60 fps = awesome looking game.

I think I've put in 75 hours of goofing around with the main quest, Dawnguard DLC and all the random shit.

The biggest problem with Skyrim and Fallout games is the loot is shit. It gets to a point, the only thing worth grabbing are magic potions and lock picks for usage and gold. And keep Black soul gems in case you want to cure vampirsm. Everything else worth taking is to sell off.

In a Diablo game, you get a sword with 5-6 magic properties across tons of possibilities.

In Skyrim, the best sword will be something like does +25 fire damage + enemies take extra damage when on fire.

Just to show how shit the loot can be, I got that Otar mask long time ago, and I still use it because no other head gear I've found has such high base armour and 3 magic resistance properties. Looks cool to boot.

Yep. I feel 100% the same. No other open world RPG has ever pulled me in the same way as Skyrim. It's something else.

Modding the game is amazing. Giving the player character better animation is great, but two of the most transformative changes I think, is being able to lock on to enemies and dodge/roll.

The melee combat becomes infinitely better.

Finished it on the PS3, running like shit, and loved every second of it. Including all DLCs.

Replayed it 3 more times on PC. Everytime feels fresh.

Love exploring Washington, love those quests (Tranquility Lane is GOAT), soundtrack, atmosphere ...

New Vegas didnt come close due to the Mojave desert being so, so boring to explore. And I felt much more motivated by F3 main quest of finding your dad.

Was never able to play Skyrim to completion. Melee combat is atrocious and main quest was meh.

Skyrim is a very good game and wile I can understand the hate it get, if it click with you it's an amazing game like only Bethesda know how to do.
I've searched for something similar, but nothing come close for the world building, the quest, the story, the sense of discovery and the choices of killing pretty much everybody. And there is so much to do especially with the DLC's.
BUT it need mod's.

Kingdom Come is really good, but' it lack the fantasy aspect. Witcher 3 is good too but it's not really comparable and the combat system is... meh imo.
And I think some people should replay Oblivion, because I'm sure there is a lot of biased memories. You think Skyrim didn't aged well? Replay Oblivion, for real.
Other good RPG's I can think of are in top view like Divinity II, Tyranny, Pillars of Eternity etc...

Skyrim it's going home for the holidays. Is reading a book by the fire. Is enjoying the journey and the freezing cold. Is enjoying standing outside in the rain.

It's the absolutely least cinematic game out there, and that's the prime reason why i love it so much. It's not like going to the cinema, is listening to a story told by an old man.

Skyrim is great, is full of content, is full of surprises, and there's always something to discover. I love it so much.

Yep, it's so sad that OP has a game they continue to enjoy a decade later, instead of moving on to the overpriced half games and unfinished alphas that we so commonly get today.

It's a bug ridden repetitive mess but I really enjoyed it 10 years ago. I'm just happy I played on PC so I could fix some of the game breaking ones through the console. Today there are far better games though. Haven't revisited it since the VR version came out which I tried for around 30 mins.
