I was going to post my top 10 after the champion was crowned, but seeing that everyone is posting their top ten I guess I will do the same.
- Rugrats
- Doug
- TMNT
- Spiderman
- Beavis and Butthead
- X-Men
- Batman TAS
- Dexter's Lab
- Simpsons
- DBZ
Rugrats and Doug were the only two Nicktoons I watched with any consistency. Nothing that memorable about the shows, but I remember all the characters and their quirks.
TMNT was the first cartoon that I was truly excited about. I remember watching GI Joe, but that didn't compare to TMNT. TMNT had some of the best beat 'em ups and some sweet movies.
Spiderman was just a cool saturday morning cartoon, even if it turned to crap in the end.
Beavis and Butthead was great. I watched a good portion of MTV at that time in my life and B&B was perfectly immature for me at that time. There was a decent VG that I played for Genesis and there is a good movie that I would still watch today.
There was not a show that compares to X-Men for saturday morning cartoons. For me X-Men is the epitome of Saturday morning cartoons. Everything else leading up to X-Men was just filler.
There was only one other cartoon that could suck me in like Batman TAS, and that was Tom & Jerry. I wouldn't plan on watching Batman, but for some reason whenever it was on I just didn't change the channel or go do anything else. Many times at the end of the show I would be like I didn't plan on watching the whole episode. That is why it ranks so high for me.
I loved Dexter's Lab. It's a funny show that is broken into segments like looney tunes or Tom & Jerry. The premise of the show reminded me a lot of looney tunes so that may be why i liked it so much. Dexter didn't always win and he didn't always lose. After Dexter's voice was replaced I stopped watching.
Simpsons needs no explanation.
I have explained a few times what I did just to watch DBZ. I just like the idea of dudes fighting and shooting energy beams at each other. At the time I watched the show I was annoyed by the pacing, but not enough to stop watching. The pay off was good enough for me and the good guys were likable enough. If I would change one thing about the show besides the pacing I would make all their friends have a significant role other than dying.
Honorable mentions for Courage and PPGs. I never really watched either of these shows before the 00's. I might have caught a couple episodes of PPGs, but not much. I love both of these shows, but I dont think they belong on the 90's list.
My list was rated based on what I watched during the 90s. I have rewatched very little of what is on my list and me being an adult now I don't think I would enjoy it as I did as a child. Captain Planet almost made my list. The villains are comical in the fact that they pollute just to pollute with the exception of one villain who was all about making money. I know its a bad show, but I watched it as a kid and I was entertained.
