i actually respect the work he does. he obviously knows direction and animation so whenever there's a new tartatovsky anything, usually i sit up and pay attention. i'm also aware there's a lot about what he does that i just can't stand. i think of the 90s cal arts people, i liked mccracken more.
oh and the cal arts groups is really fascinating. in the 80s, it was a bunch of people who wound up working on the simpsons. in the 90s, it was lauren faust, mccracken, and taratovsky, who made shows from the 90s through the 00s on a regular basis. in the 00s, it was penn ward, alex hirsch, and jg quintel, who are now part of the best shows in the 10s (although my appreciation for regular show has waned).
