1up-Perfect Dark Zero hands-on

the word is that condemned kinda rocks, although it really doesn't show very well at a rave-like environment like X05 was tonight.

i haven't played it since E3 so i'm going to do so tomorrow, and hopefully, there won't be shitty belgium hard house doing the jackhammer in the auditorium all day long so i can actually get some ambience up in this shit.

thnx man i was impressed by the last trailer i saw.

sounds good, co-op online, very nice indeed.

what are you doing in Amsterdam Che? Is there a game event here in the next few days? Is that the gameshow that they are selling tickets for?

I thought we established yesterday that it would be good news if it WAS delayed. NOw its good that its coming out at launch? I dont get it.

The first thing we noticed about Zero when we picked up the 360 pad were its solid and precise controls, with the relatively slow movement and deliberate pacing of Halo. Probably not a coincidence, as many of Zero's other controls mimic Bungie's mega-shooter: Y to switch between your weapons (or pick up new ones), X to reload, B for a quick melee attack, R trigger to fire (+L trigger for your other weapon while dual wielding).
They forgot that this isn't due to the game, but the console itself: in the gamer profile you can set which controls configuration to use in FPS, Racing and other games, so PDZ is probably using the default config, set to be like the Halo one ;-)

I'd like to see it come out at launch, but I also want it to be a legitimately great game. I think it's looking very good already, but want Rare to have the time to really refine and polish the gameplay, and also add some additional visual bells & whistles, like ejected shell casings and blood splatters on walls (which actually looked very nice in the original Perfect Dark). If it takes a delay to ensure that it's really something special, I'd much rather wait.

Actually, the artcile in this months PLAY magazine has rekindled my interest. I hope to here more impressions for this game and all launch titles. Can I get some news on Dead Rising.....pretty please?

Some objectives are entirely optional no matter how you're playing the game. One mission had a weapon stockpile hidden in an office off to the side of a warehouse. If you miss it, you'll get ambushed later in the stage by a group of shotgun-totting enemies. But find the weapons storage room, toss in a grenade and BOOM! -- no shotguns to face later on. Other parts of the levels can be handled differently depending on your tastes: turn off the lights in a warehouse and kill the enemies inside stealthily, knock out security cameras to avoid a second wave of bad guys, shoot up the final boss when you come across it midway through the level to soften it up for the final confrontation later.

:D

I honestly haven't seen one video that makes this game look good cause I fail to see what is good about it. Graphically it's solid but is just as unimpressive as it is impressive far as I can tell from the mixed media and impressions we've seen. I know that's contradictory but you either have some product manager douchebag playing the game on stupid easy mode, showing off the awesome we don't like to shoot back AI or you have shaky cam multiplayer video with a noobasaurus on the controls. For a launch game you'd think we'd see more content and better content. I loved Goldeneye and Perfect Dark but the formula is somewhat dated but what differentiates this from Timesplitters series other than the cover and combat roll. Is there even a pop out mechanic like Goldeneye? Based on what we've seen I just don't see what makes this game really worth hyping other than MS says it is one of their flagship titles and are putting a lot of pressure on it to be big.

Looking quite nice from the clip blim posted. Can`t see why everyone is so quick to put a downer on this game. I`m sure It will look fantastic once complete and running in 720P and If the multiplayer is upto the standards of goldeneye then we could have a Live favourite on our hands.

It isn't running in 720p now :??

It just seems inexplicably rough and average, visually, in parts. I'm fairly resigned to the fact that this won't be a typical Rare technical tour-de-force - which is really sad if i think back to my pre-e3 expectations for this - but the game sounds like it may still have hope. I just hope they're not rushing it (after a hilariously buggy experience with the original's co-op).

I like the city-combat, I'm a sucker for that kind of thing. The co-op seems to have some neat touches. Not so hot about the third-person bits though..

I've seen the IGN vids, Blim's vid and that cutscene. Any others I might have missed?

Haven't you dissappeared yet? :lol you clearly have no idea what you're talking about. You're confident PDZ is a turd, despite positive impressions from practically EVERY game site on the net that has actually played it? (edit: seriously. even the most negative impressions were, at worst, guarded praise) WTF, bud. Either you're posting from 2 months in the future, or from a crackhouse.

And to borrow your footer for EVERY post--

"PEACE!"

Le sigh. Yes, I'm crazy. The videos I've dloaded clearly show me a game that's superior to anything I've seen on my own laptop. :( I am crying on the inside, I assure you.

The impression on gameplay are one thing. The impressions on graphics are another. But since this is a thread about hands-on, and probably more about gameplay, then I shouldn't have made those comments in here. But visually, it's still a trainwreck. You cannot damage control this ugly fucking game. PEACE.

What I meant was that all we are seeing are these low quality vids (well except for blims :D), but once you see running in 720P on a screen It will look great. Have faith people rare will deliver.
