The graphics look real crisp, but it's as if they concentrated more on the environment than on the characters!

1UP: Like Soul Calibur palette swaps?

TI: Bringing up Soul Calibur suggests that Namco likes to do that sort of thing, but let's not broach that today, because we don't want to waste our time on that kind of petty stuff. I think the technique of recycling the characters and just changing the names and keeping everything else the same is just to add meaningless volume is the worst thing you can do, I hate it. I don't have time to talk about something so despicable when we have so much other stuff to talk about.

He gets so fired up when other games are mentioned.
 
On the HDD issue.

If we were going to cut corners and stuff, we wouldn't do things like the visual lobby (houses) for a launch title, it's not necessary.

I know, the blur is so awesome looking. I can't understand why they won't allow users to enable it in game. If they are concerned about the fighting, I could understand, but at least give us a "graphics whore" option or something.

Interview was pretty good. He's one crazy fellow, but is always entertaining.

They won't? Strange, maybe it only looks good but, how to put it... distracts? when you play the game.

I always thought that motion blur and global illumination are the only 2 things left that make CGs so much better than RT graphics. I'm glad that FINALLY we will be able to achieve RT, real motion blur.
IIRC there was a special patch for Quake 3 that enabled motion blur only on the Voodoo 6000 card, right?

NG Black on Hard difficulty is kicking my ass (specifically the 60 enemy challenge at the library room in chapter 6) but it's undoubtedly the only game that keeps me coming back for more punishment. Without a doubt one of my top 5 games of all time.

Well they have been using the HDD on Xbox to reduce loading times.... DOA 3 and NG loads a lot of junk to the HDD when you boot up the game. I guess they will use a similiar approach with DOA 4.
 
1UP: Well one of the sad side-effects of the original Xbox's lifespan is that every unit had a hard-drive built in, and yet very few developers ever really took advantage of it to do anything other than to give you a big fat memory card. There was your lowest common denominator, everyone had a hard-drive, and still no one really did anything with it besides you and a few other select developers. So now on 360 you have to do twice the work, since it's no longer standard. Sounds like it sucks.

TI: I was the first person outside of Microsoft to know they were going to do this, the two packages.

I think reading between the lines, that sealed the deal for Ninja Gaiden 2 and the destination. They treat him like royalty

Considering that Ninja Gaiden and NGB are gaming perfection, I think royalty he is. I still chuckle every time I see the glowing Xbox of power next to the Windmill Shuriken.

So with the discussion of should we make her American or English got really heated, one of the staff said "Oh, how about Japanese?" I said "No, not Japanese." And he said "Seriously! How about a robot?" And when I saw that this guy was seriously suggesting making her a robot I realized that he was seriously suggesting making her a robot I realized he was completely out of his mind, so i said "OK, Japanese is fine." And we've already decided that all of the female characters of this game will appear at a South pacific island with coconuts and all that good stuff.

TI: Of course, DOAX2. And when I said "No one wants to see a robot in a bathing suit," and then the other guy was like "Well, there are some robots that are sexy." I was like "Oh, this guy is crazy." And at this point I got fed up with the whole thing, that's when I decided on Japanese and the name 'Kokoro.'

:lol between stair monkeys and sexy robots, i suppose there are some eccentrics on team ninja. i wonder what the "itagaki short film" will be like.

8 HOURS?!? Transcribing a 45 minutes interview is already a chore!

8 hours of transcribing? :( Why do I have a feeling that someone's going to find you huddled in the corner of your office, shivering before the day is done... :p
 
If you read Milkman's blog section of the site with the entry concerning the 1up Team Ninja feature, you'll find confirmation of Ninja Gaiden 2 for Xbox 360...
 
Great stuff. It would have been nice to have what ultimately became Kokoro be something other than a fourth Japanese girl (though Hitomi essentially slots in as a European brunette) in the game as Itagaki seemed to want, but crazy robot guy won that one.

Regardless, everything overall is sounding great with DOA4.
 
Alway entertaining. Glad to hear that at least one dev isn't going to let MS' stupidity (re: the HD) get in the way of the game.

Milkman I'd like to personally thank you for making my day. That interview is awesome and I eagerly await the rest of this weeks material.
 
Sexy robots was very funny but I also greatly enjoyed philosophical Itagaki getting all deep about the manliness of a high gray tolerance threshold. I grew profound chest hairs whilst reading it.

So far, this has the potential to be the greatest feature ever. Besides just being a fun and interesting read, it also was successful in generating anticipation for DOA4, at least for me.
