Dig into the day after Thanksgiving with a special holiday episode of 1UP Yours. John, David, Shane, and Garnett share tales of holidays past from the community to help get you in the spirit. And they've been playing games like Valkyria Chronicles, Far Cry 2, Peggle, and whole lot more.

WOW! I'm having a day off today and getting my friends to come over to play Fifa as we usually would every Saturday

And now with this it really DOES feel like a Saturday! Thanks 1up!!

Actually I want to know if John has been playing Fallout 3 much. For a hardcore Oblivion fan dude sure hasnt been talking about F3 much the past 2 or 3 weeks.

probably because Fallout 3 is so much better than Oblivion that not even the rosey fond memories of the past could stop Oblivion seeming ranky stuff in comparison

Or the fact the Morrowind was so much better. And modded Morrowind just kick the piss out of it

I thought of that, but if John was such an Oblivion fan he probably didn't play the far superior Morrowind which would have eased him into with low expectations.

Ok, so here's how the friend system works in Far Cry 2.

- There are 2 modes for every friend. The first is that they just hang out at Mike's bar after you initially meet them. The second is "rescue ready". Besides your "best buddy" there's one more that will be rescue ready if you activate that mode. The way you do that is very simple, go into one of your many safe houses and they will usually be there telling you they got your back.

- If your best buddy dies the rescue ready buddy will take his spot and you will again find another friend at your safe to take that guy's place.

- The way to keep your buddies from dying is after they rescue you to simply clear out anyone in the area. If you've played Far Cry 2 you know that means anyone who could possibly see you from 10 miles away will and will come after you, so you better make sure they're all dead. I'm guessing John didn't do that. :lol

Oh and "rescuing" your buddies is very cool.

kinda curious what they have to say abt peggle xbla since i understood it to be a fairly straight port (unlike peggle ds) but they've been teasing it for a while

Speaking of FarCry 2 can anyone just give some help really quick... whats the trick to getting some of those security outposts to register as 'scouted' when they refuse to and youve checked every square inch of the site?

:lol David Ellis responds to the Killzone 2 comments starting at about 39 minutes in.

I love how Shane called him out on the "not worth playing" comment.

Anyway, glad that he backpedals a bit. Says he's not really into 'tactical' shooters and prefers 'arcadey' shooters. I guess that's understandable, but I think KZ2 has a nice mix of arcadey style and tactical play. The class system allows you to really play however you want. Hope he gets a bit more time to play the other classes.

I'm surprised they went tactical, to appeal to the mainstream (which I assume they would be trying to do with Killzone to get the hardware sales) I think they should have gone more aracdy or gone the very basic tactical route like in Gears

"there are just people in this world that want to tear things down" :lol

Why am I all of a sudden thinking of the speech Alfred gives about the joker in Dark Knight?

I think the distinction is insignificant.

KZ2 plays a lot like CoD4 on crack and without the ridiculous aim assist, and the casuals lapped that game up more than any other shooter this gen.

Add in all the crazy shit from the classes, and it has an arcadey vibe with tactical gunplay.

Mayve its the "ridiculous aim assist" that made it so popular?

If there's any nitpicky Far Cry 2 hate, I'm gonna fly across the Atlantic and strangle
David Ellis, I call it "boo hoo i got malaria in the ocean"

Awesome! Hopefully this thread stays on track.

Thanks to the whole crew for the show. Makes my trips go a bit quicker. :)

Oh my god can we nip this fucking Killzone 2 talk in the bud already?

The shit doesn't come out for 3 months so who gives a fuck?

Thread hasn't even been up long enough to listen to the entire episode and Hoffman's fucking PS3 loving ass is talking about Killzone 2 already?

FUCK

KZ2 is talked about in this episode, so why are you getting upset about someone discussing it? If you aren't interested in discussing it then discuss something else.

Because it's the same group of people who fuck up every other thread where ANY Sony exclusive happens to be fairly criticised in.

Then don't respond to them and then there's no way for them to screw up the thread.

How am I screwing up the thread when it's talked about in the episode? Good grief people. is it that hard just to not respond if KZ2 discussion doesn't interest you?

Man, the only people in danger of fucking up this thread are the people talking about the thread being fucked up. Hoffman just wants to talk about a game he's having an absolute blast with, in a thread about a podcast where the game was being discussed no less! He's not dredging up last weeks clusterfuck, he's responding to comments made in this show.

Let him voice his opinion and if anyone actually wants to start a discussion with him then cool. Don't just start bitching straight away.
