Gaffers, step up for duty.

IGN talked about this on their last podcast too, and they made fun of him :lol
Ya, I was mentioned on 2 podcasts in 1 week on the same subject, W00T! :D

I got the message out about SOCOM, and thats all I wanted to do.

I was surprised they viewed the secluded Killzone presentation as a negative. I think everyone on GAF viewed the conference's timing and independence as Sony being more confident with their product... not less.

Also I completely forgot about Alan Wake... I hope we see it at E3. The game is so mysterious.

I thought I read somewhere that Alan Wake wouldn't be at E3 because the devs don't want to disrupt the dev cycle. Maybe that has changed.

I wouldn't be surprised.

My top 5 games I want to see:

1. Halo 3
2. Mario Kart Wii
3. Killzone 2
4. Ninja Gaiden 2
5. MGS4

I'm in the middle of it, pretty cool so far. But one thing: the plural to stadium is stadia, not stadiums, latin ftw :D

actually both forms are acceptable

well, about 3 years ago my english teacher told me that's an error, seems it has changed.

Good show as usual. Though I really wish either Patrick or Mark was there.

And I hope I don't insult anyone here. Don't get me wrong. I'm a big supporter of Garnett and he's been my favourite 1up staff member for quite some time. But he's not suited to the news segment. He talks too fast and can get a bit tongue tied sometimes making it hard to understand what's going on.

On the subject of Garnett. I think it's time for another single malt suggestion. After getting you guys to taste the best there is available (Lagavulin). It's time for the second best (and thankfully easier on the wallet):

Anyone else find the E3 segment kind of boring?

I wouldn't say boring. Across the spectrum of rumours and buildup and stuff, there's just a curious psychological flavour to it: some concrete desires (dammit - demands) for very specific, long anticipated things, and some powerful, general excitement for the spectacle of things coming from nowhere. E3 is close to boredom-proof.

I didnt like the E3 segment..

But yeah... how could you ever get satisfied with 1up yours as a Nintendo fan..

My personal picks for E3 (things i wish to see)

1. Kid Icarus
2. F - zero WX
3. Ninja Gaiden 2
4. Jetset Radio Sequel
5. Crazy Taxi on Wii or 360
6. Panzer Dragoon
7. Golden Sun DS or Wii
8. Pikmin 3
9. Luigis Mansion 2
10. Starfox Wii

What Platform will steal the show

1. Nintendo DS (Healthy first and thirdparty support..)
2. Nintendo Wii (Lot of Announcements... I disagree with the 1up staff.. we will see thirdparty support)
3. Xbox 360 (More solid games)

Good as always but I think they should releases these podcasts on the day they are taped. It just seems odd there not talking about GTA:IV and that the RB6 packs where put back up and made free.

I really enjoyed the E3 prediction segment and am looking forward to the second half next week. But, in saying that... I think that at the end of the day, I wouldn't put much stock into what people on the 1up Yours panel may have heard, commented on or said regarding E3. No disrespect.

They are journalists, professionals, working in the gaming industry, yes, this true and as such may have access to stories and rumours that others don't. But going by previous installments of 1up Yours over the last 12/18 months, whatever it's been, the panel don't have a great batting average when it comes to predictions and little tips they have gotten actually coming to fruition.

I know that everyone always rags on Shane, but the fact of the matter is they are all guilty of it. Even Luke back in the day had his moments in his place as the news man.

Though I always enjoy 1up Yours, I don't think, when it comes to the real megatons, they have any more insight with their predictions than most. Sony, Nintendo and to a lesser degree MS (on past leaks alone) usually keep their cards pretty close to their chest when it comes to the big announcements at E3. I don't see this year being any different.

You have no idea. :(

Just started listening.

Almost felt like turning it off right away, these guys don't know what they are talking about.

"Stranglehold is in the spirit of hardboiled, not harboiled, the guy isn't even the same character"..... Not the 1st time something like this happens, know your shit before you talk.

So Jon is saying consumers are most interested in the Elite model of X360. Just as suspected, consumers want the best version of hardware available and don't want to settle for anything less. This could end up being a big problem for MS, as if they do drop the Elite price to $399.99 the system is still the same price as launch in the eyes of the consumer. The secondary issue is that MS intended workhorse, the premium model, just got cut off by the legs. I think MS may have ****ed themselves by releasing the Elite model. Should have worked harder on trying to get the price of the system down. Hopefully Sony doesn't make the same mistake and gets the PS3 down to a reasonable level sometime soon. Honestly, if Sony can muster some sort of massive price drop on PS3 this fall, in the eyes of the many people I think $399.99 would be better spent on a PS3 than an Elite X360.

Did Shane like, come in every morning and punch you in the face after saying good morning or something? Piss in your wheaties? Hide your Master Chief doll(s)?
Its not like you havnt made a few predictions that never came to fruition.

But does that preclude them from saying anything about the game at all? I'm thinking incredibly broad statements here.
They probably have to walk a fine line. When you have inside information on something, it's best to not talk on the topic at all, lest something slip. Bungie's ninjas are everywhere. They had just seen the game this week, and maybe even learned about the E3 plans (which I still predict to be minimal).

And he didn't even insult him, just imply that his predictions may be off. Which I will mine for cluz and sectetz when I get to that part. :lol

We have a Shane Defence Force around here? :lol

I actually like Shane. He's a straightforward and honest guy, a real enthusiast sometimes :p and, more importantly, he brings some balance to 1up with his Sony and Nintendo love.

MS would match any price-drop. They would never let the Elite and the PS3 sit at the same price point.

GOW being Sony's strongest ip? GOW3 at E3? What's with these E3 predictions.
They said it is their strongest IP right now(sort of inclined to agree, but certainly debatable), and none of them predicted it would be there. I believe at this point they were talking about what would steal the show for each company, and i think Brian said showing anything about God of War 3 would steal the show.

Nothing that AltogetherAndrews couldn't bring to the table with much more coherence and professionalism. I really can't see why 1up isn't pursuing this obvious upgrade. It's like sticking with Larry Hughes as your shooting guard when Kobe is available in free agency and will sign with you for less.

Well, is it even in the top five sales wise? They have Gran Turismo, SingStar..etc. Iconic franchise though not their best seller by far.

Green Shinobi said:
Gran Turismo is definitely their top IP sales wise. Wouldn't be surprised if God of War was second or third though.

Sony have a ton of 1-3million selling franchises (per game) and then it jumps to your 10m selling GT games and SingStar and such. The first Socom sold about 4m, the first Jak sold 3m+ but then the sequels drop to 1-2m per one. GOW ended up at 2.5 for the first, perhaps a bit more for the sequel. Gran Turismo is by far Sony's biggest ip though by far.

Shane is a moron. He's like your everyday GAf Ps3 fanboy, but he gets to know stuff behind the scenes.
Exactly. There are a ton of posters on this board who would be huge upgrades. Wollan for instance.

I have no idea, sales-age is not my department. Kratos is sort of an unnofficial mascot though.

Seriously, :lol.

After all, he did predict we'd see Killzone 2 and have a demo of it at GDC. Nice try, Lukems.
No he said there would be a killzone demo before/during halo 3 beta. Still wrong though.
