If your point is that Nintendo first party is getting all the sales...well, no shit, they're the only ones that thought the console would be worth supporting right now. But Wii Sports is a much bigger system seller than Zelda. You constantly dismissed the idea of "non-gamers" or casuals buying the console for Wii Sports and the like, but it seems that's exactly what's happening. It's not, and never has been, a Zelda player to anybody outside the industry. It was always about the Wiimote and Wii Sports.

The show so far has been excellent, as usual. I'm just to the break before the news section. The E3 predictions are interesting because they have a mix of educated guesses and actual inside information. The lack of Halo 3 mention was conspicuous, for example.

At least Luke didn't say "I've heard..." before everything though. Shane's problem is he'll cock tease you with information that, based on past performances, is a load of shit.

I took his comment in this thread not to be him making fun of Shane, but just pointing out that his predictions are not correct (OMG secretz). But then I tend to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and not interpret things as being personal.schuelma said:

This is my first E3 and for a while I was worried it wouldn't be much, but honestly it looks like all 3 companies will put on a good show. I'm hyped.

1up Yours and the 1up Show are doing some interesting things. I tend to gravitate towards people whose writing I find compelling or otherwise of quality. But these shows have made them into personalities as well as journalists. Both 1up shows entertain as much as they inform, and so people are latching onto their "favorites". I suppose it's human nature, but it's one of my annoyances when people come to the rescue of or attack the person rather than the point.TheGreatDave said:

John talking about Call of Juarez being more than a Spaghetti Western because of its brutality. I think that the Spaghetti Westerns were always more gritty than traditional "Western" Westerns (hah!) so I think the comparison Garnett was making probably fits.
We need some good western FPS games! The first and last great one I played was Outlaws, we need that franchise back!

for the record, I was just joking earlier in the thread about the "crow drink" and although a majority of GAF probably didn't read what I typed nor does anyone care, I just want to get it out of the way before I get thrown into the "attackers" group. Luke is one of my favorite journalists, I always enjoyed reading his work at 1up and I have really enjoyed what he has wrote at Bungie so far.

I don't understand the point of discussing pros and cons of 1up staff. They're all just actors anyway, scripted to be the voices of your token snarky, cynical fanboy with an inside track, and playing their roles for the great amusement of crowds like this one right here until they can nail down a job in the productive end of the industry. Shane is just another actor on staff, and I guess his role is that of the slightly over the top Sony fanboy. Big deal.

Ok, I suppose there might be the odd dude on staff who couldn't hack in the real world and instead decided to pursue a future as someone who mimics message board twits, but with a journalistic (as in, given the chance to be even snarkier to even more people and get "cred" for doing so) edge. Oh wait, that sounds like every other gaming "journalist" in the history of forever.
