The only "advantages" is see to these is these are that they let you customize the look of your desktop, and display countless bits of info, most of which are useless to me or easily accessible through one of the built-in XP apps -- Task Manager for tasks and CPU/RAM usage, the connection indicator for uptime and IP, etc.

Once I had over 3000 items (folders and files) on my desktop, now it's a little cleaner:

While on the subject, why do you guys use desktop replacements/enhancements like Rainlendar, Samuraize, etc? Docks i can understand since they're always available, though i stopped using them when i realized i could do most of what they do through explorer. But given that your desktop is covered most of the time with whatever windows you're using, i don't see the point in having system monitors or whatever info on your desktop.

Explorer is UGLY. simple as that
