June 7th said:(Martinez) outpitched Roy Oswalt, who hit Cliff Floyd with a pitch in the seventh. An angry Floyd pointed at Oswalt and started toward him but was held off before he could get close. Both benches and bullpens emptied, but no punches were thrown.
Oswalt also plunked Floyd in the back of the ribs last August. Floyd hit a grand slam off the right-hander in May 2004.
"It's been talked about around the league," Floyd said. "I'm not saying retaliation will come from this club. But sooner or later, somebody's going to hurt him. He doesn't want to pitch to me, fine, throw four balls."
Oswalt said it was unintentional.
"I mean, it's a 2-1 game and we're not hitting," he said. "I don't need to make it 4-1. He stands on the plate."
August 27 said:Tempers flared again between Barrett and Oswalt, five days after Oswalt was ejected for hitting Barrett with a pitch following a Cubs homer.
Both benches emptied after Barrett jawed with Oswalt when the pitcher came up to bat in the second -- an exchange that continued after Oswalt grounded out. There was no further trouble, even after Oswalt was later hit by a pitch, prompting a warning to both sides from plate umpire C.B. Bucknor.
Barrett said he had been waiting for the chance to "speak my piece" to Oswalt, citing not only last Sunday's beaning but similar previous incidents involving the pitcher.
"I felt like he was wrong and I wanted him to know that," Barrett said. "To hit someone intentionally, especially the way he did it, I think it's wrong."
Oswalt said Barrett clearly was trying to fire up the crowd, and perhaps get him ejected, but said he had a right to say something if he thought he'd been thrown at.
"I thought he handled it a little worse than a regular person would, guys that have been in the league for a while, but he's got a right to do what he wants to do," Oswalt said. "He's got to go out there and play every day. It's all good."

!!!Astros third baseman Morgan Ensberg was added to the National League All-Star Team late Sunday night.
He'll join Roger Clemens, Brad Lidge and Roy Oswalt to give the Astros four All-Stars in Tuesday's contest.
Ensberg leads all NL third basemen in home runs (24) and RBIs (66).
However, he appeared to have been left off the squad after fans voted Scott Rolen of the Cardinals to start the game and players voted Aramis Ramirez of the Cubs to be the backup.
It's unclear who Ensberg will be replacing. In just his third big league season, Ensberg is one shy of his previous career high in home runs (25 in 2003). He's also one shy of his previous career high in RBIs (65 in 2004).
He had just three home runs and 35 RBIs at the all-star break last season. This spring, he disclosed he had been suffering from a sore elbow.

CHICAGO--Chicago Cubs third baseman and National League All-Star selection Aramis Ramirez was found dead in his home late Sunday night. Investigators at the scene would not give details, but did say that Ramirez was found drowned in his pool wearing a David Carr jersey. Police believe foul play could have been involved.
Rolen, voted as the NL's starting third baseman, pulled out of the All-Star Game to rest a problematic shoulder. Cardinals manager Tony La Russa said he thought Houston's Morgan Ensberg would be Rolen's replacement.
"We finally pursuaded Rolen to take the All-Star Game off but he wanted to play today," La Russa said. "We don't win that game without Rolen. Our defense was inspired. All three of these games could have gone either way."
Major League Baseball confirmed Ensberg would replace Rolen on the NL roster.

Cubsfan23 said:Why would larussa want to start clemens and give the NL no chance?
Ninja Scooter said:He should start Willis then. You know, that guy that could have been a Cub right now if the Chicago front office didn't have a hard on for Matt Clement.
:/ I'll be the first to admit that Bret Boone's performance this year and last have been rather disappointing, but I really don't think cutting him loose was the right move. Oh well, I just hate seeing guys that have spent most or all of their careers dedicated to one team get the boot so suddenly like that.DMczaf said:
