They let Weaver bat with a man on third in the bottom of the 8th.. glad to see they're letting him make a go at the shutout. :D

...and he got it. 5-hitter and the Dodgers second shutout in three games. :D

There was a point in time when Scott Erickson was a legitimate starter.

The nice ballplayer I've ever met is David Eckstein, who was just completely awesome. Followed by Rodrigo Lopez, who I've met several times. Great guy.

Great game by Weaver, shook of a rocky start and went the distance with the shutout. Kent, Badley and Drew with HR's is also quite nice, Kent has been on fire since opening day. :D

all this is great. Lets hope we can win outside our division. I have to admit the NL west is garbage with the exception of our team. The way our team is playing right now it seems everyting is going ourway.

And as usual "your team" will be shit in the 2nd half, have a pathetic collapse, or you'll sneak into the playoffs only to get humiliated. Enjoy it while it lasts! Dodgers first-half of the regular season, it's FAN-TASTIC!

Someone's a little bitter that his team is now 6-6 and on its way to another losing season. I'd rather collapse in the second half than collapse in the first and have to crawl the rest of the way.

Possible (if Vazquez doesn't have better outings, which I think he will, the D-Backs are in serious shit), but then again I was hoping the Suns would get the eight seed this year and look what happened there. How are the Lakers doing, btw?

;P

My original point was that the entire NL West is mediocre, and LA has had a nice run, but I wouldn't expect it to last; and just to show you I am not a pure HAYTER, Odalis has been one of my favorite pitchers for years, but I wouldn't trust Weaver farther than I could throw him. Basically I see the NL West as a division of slightly varying mediocrity, and I think that LA is clearly the best right now, but I don't see them being among the league's elite by the end of the season.

BALTIMORE (AP) -- George Steinbrenner isn't paying $200 million in player salaries to watch his New York Yankees sputter along in last place.

The outspoken owner waited all of two weeks before demanding that his team start winning -- or else.

Miguel Tejada hit his eighth career grand slam, and the Baltimore Orioles roughed up Kevin Brown and completed a three-game sweep of New York with an 8-4 victory Sunday. The Yankees (4-8) have dropped four straight and eight of 10 overall.

"Enough is enough. I am bitterly disappointed as I'm sure all Yankee fans are by the lack of performance by our team," Steinbrenner said in a statement issued immediately after the game.

"It is unbelievable to me that the highest-paid team in baseball would start the season in such a deep funk. They are not playing like true Yankees. They have the talent to win and they are not winning. I expect Joe Torre, his complete coaching staff and the team to turn this around."

Torre, who held a brief team meeting after the game, did not take Steinbrenner's comments lightly.

"He's right. What are you going to say? I'm not going to dispute that," the manager said. "If I try to defend what we've been doing, you'd have to check my sanity. This stuff out here is not pretty. We have to make it better. No question."
FINALLY George starts to let loose. His reasonable attitude and refusal to snap and make crazy shit happen the last few years has been a real downer. Naming Torre first in the list of people who better get their shit together will at least make for some interesting tabloid stories in the NY media. Of course, even Steinbrenner wouldn't be crazy enough to can Torre unless they totally miss the post season this year. But here's hoping. ;)

That's a good one! Whew! I haven't laughed that hard in awhile.

This coming from the guy whose home team is the Migrated Expos, MLB's equivalent franchise of the Memphis Grizzlies, new city, but they will always be the Expos. "Nationals," hahahaha, you want something to laugh at, let's look at your franchise.

They will always be the Expos.

GO WASHINGTON EXPOS!

That really doesn't mean anything from a guy whose home team just got their asses beat three games in a row by the WASHINGTON-FUCKING-NATIONALS, who are also first place in the NL East.

I have that exact same Expos cap. Growing up, every baseball fan you knew was an Expo fan.

:( No fanbase in pro sports was treated as badly as the fans in Montreal over the past decade and a half.

Yeah lets see where the Nationals are when it's Oct

That's not the question. I'm not saying they're better than anyone, but if you're going to try and call my team out, then you probably shouldn't do it when your team (once again!) gets their asses handed to them three games in a row by my team. Who also have first place.

Man, I never knew Expos fans were so sensitive.

Yeah the Marlins beat the Nationals 2 games out of 3. I can't wait till they get their asses handed to them again.

I never knew Diamondbacks players could walk away with their tails between their legs. Again, the D'BACKS weren't even a challenge. They were pretty pathetic.

Oh, I assumed you were one of those fabled Diamondbacks fans. Instead, you're a disgruntled Marlins fan. I'm sure you'll enjoy as much as I will, the Braves taking their rightful place atop the division in due time.

I never said the D-Backs played well. It's a 162-game season, even great teams go through bad stretches, especially early on. The D-Backs haven't shown me enough to think they will be good this year (and quite frankly I didn't really expect them to be good, but it doesn't take "good" to compete in the NL West fortunately for us), but I'm still a fan, and I'm definitely not going to treat dropping three games against a team on its first homestand in its new city like it's the end of the world or the end of the season.

HOLY SHIT. Boring ass game on Sunday Night Baseball + bonus Collective Soul interviews where the hacks talk about baseball = me scrambling for remote

Should have known nothing involving the Braves involved could be anything other than a hellish ordeal.

REDS WIN! What now ASTRONOMICALS? :D

Here and not shocked you won against fatass worthless duckworth.

:lol Man Kolb is having a rough night. The way that bounced bunt died right in front of him even made a Braves hater like me wince in sympathy.

Beautiful start by Hampton, take a 1-0 lead in the 10th, and what happens?

...I need to stop watching games or something; it can't be healthy for me to be getting this frustrated in April.

What about Myers? He pitched just as well, and has also started out incredibly well. This is baseball at its finest for me. Good pitchers duel, extra innings baseball, big comeback win(even if it did come off an error).

As a side note, pitch selection for Madson was not good. He should have thrown the change up Jordan with 2 strikes, and to Mondesi.

dont make fun of the expos. i miss my trips up to montreal for $5 CDN student nights! best bargain ever!

That's why I posted this, for all the sad, hurt current and former Expos fans out there.

GO WASHINGTON EXPOS!

C'mon man, the Expos were a decent and at times great franchise. The last straw was when they let Pedro go after his first Cy Young in 1997. After that, I agree it was pitiful. The only similarity I see with the Grizzlies is that both were Canadian teams that moved to the US. If you look at it closely, they have a pretty rich history. But I guess you're some sort of oblivious, close-minded fan who only cares and knows about his local team: TEH EXPOSSZ ARE TEH SUCKSZ!!!11! HAHAHAAA!

Dodgers usually start stinking it up early, had one or two good starts but look out! it's the pitching staff getting it done without Gagne - he eligible to come off the DL now?

and what's Drew hitting buck o'five or some crap like that?

ESPN.com reported today that he is still one month away.

I'm actually happy to see Boston sticking it to the Jays. Time to bring that team back down to earth, because if the Yankees don't make the playoffs the Yankee cap and jersey I put on in the post season will be wasted.
Fixed.
