yeah well Ted Lily sucks. Ensberg would have a harder time hitting it out against a batting practice machine. Awful pitching, giving up leadoff HRs, lack of clutch hitting....too many singles. whatever..hope they can do something in 2 innings they haven't been sfoar

The Nationals, once again, come from behind as the Mariners implode. And 32-year-old career minor leaguer Rick Short, in his first ever major league at-bat, gets a RBI! Cool!

Looks like the Mets will lose a 3rd one in a row... it's scary how the week started compared to how now things turned out. :lol I know we're only 3/4 out of first but the damn NL EAST is freaking stressful! :lol The stinking Phils were like in last place Monday and somehow magically jumped to second. LOL What a load of shit… oh well at least the division is fun.

HAHAHAHAHA

OH LOOK! NOW WE PINCH HIT AND BRING IN RUSS ADAMS! OH OK

Bases loaded.....2 out. We let John Mcdonald hit instead of bringing in Russ.......he's up against Lidge now and he gets a single! WOW OK COOL

c'mon

Everyone thought that the Marlins, Mets and Braves would be able to beat up on the Nats and the Phillies.

I AM AFRAID THEY WERE WRONG.

Fifty your jays got a taste of MVP astros style baseball tonight :P

CAN I GET AN "AMEN!" FOR THE FEEL GOOD STORY OF THE YEAR...

It was a memorable night for the Washington Nationals as they defeated the Seattle Mariners for their eighth consecutive win. Not just for the team, but for one player in particular. After 12 seasons and 1,106 minor league games, Rick Short finally made it to the majors. Just one day after being called up to RFK Stadium from Class-AAA affiliate in New Orleans, the 32-year-old career minor leaguer hit a single into left and drove in a run in his first ever major league at-bat.

RICK SHORT. NEVER FORGET.

Torre clearly wants out. The way he criticised the Yanks effort, it came off as though he just wanted to end it now. I predict a steady progression as the losses pile up:

Next loss: "I failed to motivate this team, and we shouldn't have pinch hit Rivera for Sheffield with the bases loaded like that. Just a silly, silly move on my part."

Next loss: "I thought not posting a lineup might spur the team into a kind of 'make your own destiny' turnaround, but I failed, as with most things I've attempted lately."

Next loss: "We played good the first 3 innings, but I dozed off in the middle of the fourth so I'm not sure about our effort from that point forward. But hey, we've had worse losses this year, ya know??"

Next loss: "Well I'm running short on ideas, and I never had many to begin with..not that I needed them with this payroll and all..*chuckle*..Aaaanyway, I wanted a fresh look, so I put the pitching staff on the field and I've got the Sierra on the mound. I'm gonna have Jeter and Matsui warming in the bully though in case they bat around in the 1st inning. Can never be too prepared now, can you??"

Wow, Zack Grienke hit a HR in the Arizona/KC game.

It's always weird hearing his name since their family were friends of ours growing up. My bro played ball with Mike Maroth and Joel Pineiro as well.

Unless your brother is RICK SHORT: AMERICAN HERO, we don't care!

Did I just read that you predicted a Astros/Nationals NLCS?!

Can I have what you're on? Please? :)

Willco, you've suddenly become my poster of the moment (8:25am CT)

Yes, for I can see into the future!

Can I have what you're on? Please? :)

It's called an eight game winning streak, coke & rum and a copy of my new book, RICK SHORT: AMERICAN HERO.

Willco, you've suddenly become my poster of the moment (8:25am CT)

I've broken a new record -- CENTRAL TIME.

WOO, going to Chicago on the 17th for the oasis concert (June 20th) and will be spending some time with my brother who lives there.. turns out the Dodgers are playing the Sox that weekend. Gonna get to see them on the 18th! :D :D

Come on Cubs.....don't blow this game.

- R. Dempster relieved M. Wuertz
- J. Olerud hit for M. Mantei
- J. Olerud doubled to deep center
- J. Damon flied out to center
- E. Renteria singled to deep right, J. Olerud scored
- D. Ortiz grounded out to first, E. Renteria to second
- E. Renteria to third on wild pitch
- M. Ramirez doubled to deep right, E. Renteria scored

GO GO MFY's.

RJ threw nigh-unhittable stuff for 7 innings, and we were getting hits in the clutch.
Gordon almost blew it, resulting in the hilarious use of Mo Rivera with a 4-run lead.

...God, it feels nice to get a win.

Your Washington Nationals are looking to get the ninth consecutive win against the Mariners, and they're bringing their new friends JUNIOR SPIVEY and RICK SHORT: AMERICAN HERO.

Dodgers Gold Glove SS Cesar Izturis left the game in the seventh because of a mild strain in his right hamstring. ...

Dammit! Lets hope its not too serious but like the groin, they can become nagging injuries.

Also, I think it was in the third that Izzy was charged with an error and was wondering, since you probably watched the game, if it really was an error?

Considering that Pedro got an RBI today and lots of pitchers have been hitting well recently, I'll say Willco's is a bigger acomplishment.

Roy O is a bitch
