I love watching the Jays play the Angels. Something about that team brings out the best in the Jays (witness last nights thrilling comeback) which makes it hurt even more when the Jays go off and get swept by fucking KC or something.

True. Jays/Angels games have kicked ass all year. And not just because the Jays usually come out on the winning end. :D

So so hot. I've been crossing my fingers this entire road trip. Next up, the Tigers....then a huge series with the Yanks.

"rumor has it"

Uh, yah think? Of course that 1.32 ERA is gonna raise suspicion. Well, actually, now it's 1.53! OH NOES HE'S OFF THE ROIDS NOW! :lol

I don't know, I've heard Clemens, I've heard Pujols, I've heard Lee, I've heard every name that anyone suspects. Unless I hear any evidence for any of these players, I'm not totally gonna believe it. I do have my suspicions though. And well, I've stated before that even though I love the guy, Bagwell is one my list of "suspicious" players. As well as a lot of others, but until proven guilty (COUGH BONDSGIAMBISHEFFIELDPALMEIRO) at least in my eyes, I don't really care. Also, check Kenny Rogers for Roid Rage...

Edit: Jesus christ, the Brewskies pwned us in the 6th.

adding more fuel to this fire...

An hour ago in an ESPN chat someone asked Rob Neyer the question whether he was a Carpenter or Clemens man. He responded "Clemens, although that could change soon".

and also, tons of people are saying the name besides clemens that keeps coming up is johnny damon.
please don't be true. i love you jesus!

Since when has steroids helped a pitcher? Is Clemens throwing harder than normal... no, he's lost velocity. The motherfucker just knows how to pitch. He can change speeds and make adjustments during the game that most pitchers can only dream of doing. I may be biased (he plays for my hometown team and he played at the college I work at right now), but I'll be very suprised if he is roiding and I won't even believe it until there is incotravertiable proof of it. And if Roger is roiding then they might as well stop the season now and test all the top pitchers and hitters in MLB as it'd would have DEVESTATING effects in baseball.

Neyer may be changing his pick for a number of reasons, though.

One of them being the fact that the Astros suck when Clemens pitches, so his wins aren't going to be anywhere near Carpenter's or Willis'.

It would be VERY interesting to see Clemens get busted for steroids, though.

He is throwing 200+ innings and 96 MPH at the age of 42 or whatever it is. Steroids do help recovery time more than anything (according to Bob Brenly, at least).

There *could* be evidence for steroid use, but I'm betting it is just a rumor.

for chicago-ins, I was listening to Mac, Jurko, and Harry, and this is what I got out of the steroid rumor:

It will be reported in 2 to 5 days. One is from AL and one is from NL. Neither are on the sox or cubs, it sounded as though it was players in NL central and AL east(they actually said one is from the "AL East division leader"). and they were called "superstars."

i dunno, damon and clemens is looking more and more likely....

OH man, please Clemens don't be roiding for christ sakes.

Do you reliaze what it would do to baseball is such an icon was proved to be using roids? The ones so far accused do not have the universal respect and admiration that Clemens has. It would REALLY destroy peoples confidence in baseball. It'd probably be even worse than the strike in 94 (I think it was 94).

It'd be like if Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle or Nolan Ryan were found to be using steroids. Horrible.

I hate to say this but it'd serve MLB to actually cover this up if true.

:lol :lol :lol that would be great.

and after a little espn.com research, clemens just had one of his worst starts this season and damon's batting average is at its lowest since april 24th....DUN DUN DUNNNNN

edit: i hope it's pujols and not clemens.

Noooo, not Johnny!!

As long as it isn't Ortiz I think I'll be okay. Manny had his week of "Manny being Manny," and he's still acting funny this week. Manny may be the only player in baseball that could do roids and be able to play the "I was too dumb to know" card successfully. :lol

adding more fuel to the fire, from a Peter Gammons article from Aug. 8th:

The steroid rumor mill has been spinning out of control. More than 50 players tested positive, one megastar. Clubhouse talk. Maybe it's only a dozen, but there's a bigger name than Rafael Palmeiro. That's what's going around.

Also, from the SoSH board, other rumors mention Sheffield, David Eckstein (WTF!?) and Eric Gagne along with Damon and Clemens as guys that might have been busted.

Only one man can save baseball now...

edit: Some more to chew on. Here's what Damon said when asked about roids after Palmiero was busted.

''I'm stunned," Damon said. ''I think, in this day and age, you've got to know what you're putting into your body. If you don't know, you really have to find out. It's not too hard to go ask the trainers, or there's a lot of people you can ask -- your teammates, the trainers, coaches, doctors."

i know Damon is a self proclaimed dumbass (or was it idiot?), but you have to be some special kind of retarded to make comments like this when you yourself are in the appeals process of a steroids suspension.

i wouldnt be suprised if gagne was using. i remember reading a few years ago he came to spring training magically adding a few MPH to his fastball. this was when he was a struggling starter.

if it is damon.....holy shit, what a scumbag

LA Times is reporting that MLB has been getting calls about Damon/Roger and is denying everything. Also have denials from Theo Epstein and Damon himself, so it looks like (at least) the Damon part was bullshit. Why would he be denying something that was gonna go public in a couple days?

You wouldn't see a Cincinnati Red player ever doing steroids. Real American ballplayers, those guys.

That's right motherfuckers. Since Bonds, McGwire, Sosa, and Palmeiro are scumbag roiders, that makes Griffey and A-Rod the greatest sluggers of our time.

Brian Fellows:
yea, I'm sure Pete Rose never gambled during his playing days. WTF?!

Guys, I know this is a stretch, but my cousin's boss (he works at a baseball camp), is friends with Ray Levan (I don't know if that's even spelt right, that's what my cousin said) who's a scout or something in the Yankees organization. The man says that both Clemens and David Eckstein were caught using roids. My cousin even has it as his away message right now on AIM.

CLEMENS AND ECKSTEIN CAUGHT ON ROIDS....INSIDE INFO FROM WORK
WILL BE IN MEDIA SOON

It seems to me that he's sure about this.

If true, fucking awesome. I hate Clemens. Eckstein, I'm just completely shocked.

It would not be awesome. Sure Clemens is a dick, but there is no way arguably the greatest pitcher of this era testing positive for steroids would be good for the sport. It would be horrendous. With all the speculation around Bonds (the best hitter of this era), it would be a tremendous blow for the best pitcher of the era to be tainted by roids as well. Baseball looks bad enough these days, it doesn't need anymore help.

Definitely true. I was just giddy at the thought of seeing Clemens after the news was reported.

*take this with a grain of salt, I haven't seen any cooboration with this yet*

Supposedly a boston radio show stated that Roger Clemens, Alex Rodriguez and Johnny Damon have been found using steroids.

I checked www.bostonglobe.com but I didn't see any story such as that. I just don't believe it as something that huge would definately be broken by MLB itself rather than some radio show host in Boston.

*Prepares steroid-related nicknames*

Roidger Clemens, Alex Roidriguez, Johnny Juicer...come on people help me out!

Seriously though, this shit is DUMB. I'm sure you can turn on any given sports talk radio station in America and hear some dope throwing another name into the fire.
