Game still looks amazing. I love throwing grenades into that patch of short palm trees and seeing the way a whole group of them will react to the explosion.

Definitely, the way the foliage reacts to bullets and shockwaves from explosions is amazing!

I was completely underwhelmed by Aftermath....

The last two expansions knocked the level design out of the park, but these maps so far seem pretty bland and repetitive to me.

In regard to your comments about foliage aliasing, Stallion and Corky, I believe that was one of the things that bothered me most about Crysis 1. I would love to get perfect palm frond edges with downsampling or something, but I don't think I ever found a setting that worked for me.

Pfft Crysis. Here's what PC exclusives looked like back 2003! (yeah, I know this game wasn't pushing anything even when it came out)

Freelancer, last batch, bring on Star Citizen! Bonus start with the amazing cutscenes =P

Finally got around to playing Dark Souls PC along with the DLC, still an amazing game. Probably been done to death but nonetheless:

Sorry for jpgs...

Thank you for answering my question. I have the same video card. I just have one more question for you. Did you have to overclock your video card? If so, what are rates for it?

Yes, it is heavily overclocked to 950/4600MHz, currently playing 30FPS locked, 50Hz vsync'd is ok without SMAA and some dips to 40ish, I prefer stable 30FPS and SMAA over it also temps are more nominal that way..

Hmm, damn. What kind of monitor do you have? I almost convinced that the amount of downsampling possible was due to the gpu ( if you're using driver level downsampling / custom resolution that is ).

It's an ordinary 1080p MVA panel, nothing special..

I find it so odd, I'd love to know if someone in the know knew what determines certain people being able to downsample from higher resolutions than other. Is it the gpu? Is it the display? Combination of both? Etc.

I can do 2880x1620 max on both of my monitors and my TV. If I try going higher or messing around with the refresh rate they all go wonky.

Interesting, that would suggest ( albeit very "early" to tell ) that the monitor/tv isn't the determining factor.

It's the drivers for me, for example i couldnt even use 2560x1620 with 310.54, but .61 fixed it, I have been using DS since 275.xx..

Thank you for posting your rates. I have done the same with 310.70 drivers. If anyone is about my rates: Core Voltage 1012, Core Clock 950, Memory Clock 2300. The model is MSI CYCLONE GTX 460 1GB Edition. I am able to run Far Cry with Ultra Settings, HBAO, and custom anti-aliasing. The temperatures go about 80-81 degrees in Far Cry 3 with a bunch of effects happening on the screen (fire everywhere, komodo dragons chasing after goats, etc).

May I ask what mods/texture packs, etc. you are using? If any.

Sure, mentioned it a page or so ago but I'll be more specific :

- Rygels texture pack + high res suit texture
- AF/POM fix
- Xtreme particle mod + Reli2

Other than the big texture pack those other mods add up to a whopping 50 megs or so.

Unfortunately something is broken for me. Despite the fact I have postfx set to low and both ingame and cinematic DOF off, they're all still on. I gave up on trying to turn them off.
