What's the best way to negate blur when forcing supersampling?
Because I was dicking around with Half-Life 2, and tried out 32xS [Combined: 2x2 SS + 8x MS]. Which you'd think would result in air fucking tight crystal clear image quality. That's a 2x2 super sampled image (from 1920x1080), with 8xMSAA applied on top, downsampled to 1080p. But instead I get an incredible amount of image blurring.
First image is 32xSSAA. Latter image is the in-engine 16xQ CSAA. Outside of needing some transparency sampling, the latter clearly looks a lot cleaner and nicer than the former. Even though the former is, to my knowledge, using a superior form of anti-aliasing.
So what gives? Is it a dud anti-aliasing compatibility? Negative LOD required?

All I know is that source ( hl2-series?) doesn't play nice with forced SGSSAA or the like, frankly I've always found the regular ingame 8xMSAA to be adequate at resolutions of 1920x1080 and above. Trying to force AA in hl2 gave me a headache so I just gave up.
32xSSAA.
Whaaat?
It's supersampling right? At 1080p it would render like 66million pixel. lol
Framerate?

Hod did you managed to get that? nVidia Inspector? It's described as 32xS, but it's actually 2xSSAA with 8xMSAA. So you get a typical 2xSSAA, and that image also has 8xMSAA applied to it, which is then downsampled to 1920x1080. So not literally 32xSSAA.
But, with those settings, I get 60fps+ in Half-Life 2.
Thanks dude. I'll force some transparency AA to clean up the transparent textures, and just use the in-engine 16xQ. Which, to be honest, looks pretty damn great anyway.

Settlers 7
I wish this game was DRM free.
Nothing works so you have to use the in game AA which just blurs the image.
Is there actually a reliable Modern Warfare 3 FOV fix? I read that since changing your FOV in MW3 is considered a cheat, they could VAC ban you.

Damn, turn off that bloom, buddy. Looks sooooo much better without it.
Does anyone have a link to the downsampling guide here on GAF?
How is the lag from the OGSSAA doing with gameplay?

Yea man, that looks ugly as hell.
