Behold the worst videogame screenshot of all time (courtesy of Black Ops 6)

I've seen worse.

Like, what are people expecting out of CoD at this point? Its been on this trajectory for awhile now.
This isn't like some new low. They had Jay and Silent Bob, TMNT, Terminator, Squid Game collabs, Unicorns shitting rainbows etc. They are doing the pop/meme culture shit, you kinda go into these games expecting this now.

Didnt we have like some Snoop Dog skin with his voice overs even before Fortnite was a thing?

Was so hopeful when MW'19 launched that they were getting back to a more cohesive, visually grounded style that actually made sense for the universe. Then it got a bit carried away with some of the add-on stuff, then with each game that came out after, things just got more and more silly again, Garish animated camos, stupid characters, animations/fx and now it's all just ultra-sloppy slop.

This kinda makes me want to try MP. I assume I can see the skins other suckers have purchased?
Not only that, they will matchmake you against better players who have the new skins so that subconsciously you're more tempted to buy them.

Fuck this game, and fuck Xbox too for allowing this to continue.

Which COD was it that started its downward spiral? I haven't been keeping up. Last one I played was Infinite Warfare.

I remember CoD WWII had a couple of dumb skins like the Reaper, but it played it straight for the most part. Same with the Modern Warfare 2019 reboot. We started seeing some really stupid shit in Black Ops: Cold War, but I would say it was either Vanguard or Modern Warfare II where the dam broke and any thought of maintaining a cohesive visual identity was completely thrown out the window.

I love how they point out that is an actual PC screenshot as if it was unbelievable graphics, lol.
Gotta agree with genesisblock here, it was. Like seeing Ridge Racer on a Japanese PS1 (via a Sony sales rep) for the first time, absolutely gobsmacked.

Live reaction to seeing Unreal @ 400x300 at a blistering framerate on a pretty damn good PC for its time.

I see. Thank you for letting me know. Guess I'll avoid the games either at vanguard and beyond or MW2 and beyond. 👍🏻 ✌️

Dont blame companies too much.

If gamers didnt go balls deep for all these weird COD skins (whether it's earned or bought), then Activision wouldnt put them in. Gamers would just be happy sticking with standard soldier art that comes with the game. And that's it. Just like the old games.

But whomever it is, there's gamers loving this stuff pumping up MAU and revenue. So game companies put it in.

"If fortnite can do it, so can we!"

Yeah, no. Fortnite was already a cartoony semi cel-shaded shooter. Characters like master chief or goku were designed to a atleast marginally match the game's aesthetic. This is an eyesore

When you sell skins and need to churn them out quite often realistic military skins will only go so far so I don't really blame them for going weird or doing licensed tie ins.

As a user though you should have the option to switch them off and replace them all with a small selection of military dudes.

Yeah it's pretty strange seeing the cell-shaded/cartoon skins in the game. I thought they'd be back in the realm of reality with this latest seasonal battle pass. It has actual cool, normal, soldier type skins in it. Then this shit comes out next update lmao

It's happening to a lot of popular series that were more serious in the past and now are chasing after teenagers / fortnite audience. Rainbow Six Siege is also a very sad case if you remember that this game started off a pretty realistic tactical shooter with no silly and out-of-place content.

Of all the shitty week skins etc this franchise has fallen into, this is actually the only cool one I dig.

Still not buying a cod after mw19 though.

This is sad. When a new game drops the best time to play is the first 2 months before all this crap gets added. But the game still has has the best feeling shooter and until someone else comes out with a clone of the game we will be stuck with it. Hate it or not it feels fantastic to play.

I remember when gaming tried transmedia stuff back with Halo 4, and people hated it then.

Now people buy it enough for these atrocities. Consumers get what they deserve.

The map they showed in the image is the same boring map that cod players have probably played a thousand times since the game launched. Theres 5 maps which isn't enough to keep people interested
Seriously what the fuck are you talking about?
There's no cod with a ton of new zombies map because they are big story driven maps with many secrets and tough boss fights.
