that was not a farce, also Greece never required penalty shootouts to advance. they scored in open play in every match I think. almost impossible to go far in tournaments relying on penalty shootouts.

Ghana tied them, USA game was fixed, Algeria forced Germany into Extra Time and the set piece against France was awarded from diving.

Netherlands started impressive, but only won during regular time because of a wrongly given Penalty Kick against Mexico and even though they were the much better team today they were only one choking keeper away from Elimination.

Yeah, strangely enough there are Germans who don't want Germany to win. Sometimes they hate players from a rival team, sometimes they hate the trainer, etc. Just ignore them. IMO Germany was more successful and played better than I thought they would before the WC, with key players injured and others not at 100%.

The penalty the Netherlands got was fair and they deserved another very clear one in the first half.

And this game they weren't a choking keeper away, outside of the penalties CR didn't even get anything resembling a shot on goal.

They played really well during the first round against three strong teams and they didn't need to park the bus. Obviously Netherlands is a different beast and they knew it. Give a little credit to a country that probably has like 1/20 of the resources for their teams that the dutch have.

Just came home from watching the match. Respect for Costa Rica, amazing how far they came, and the only way we could win was by penalties. Clearly that was their plan, if not from the start then surely in the 2nd halve. We countered that plan. What a sub, Tim Krul. Clearly he had practiced nothing but penalties. This time we where prepared. But damned Costa, what a wall of defenders. What a match. We all new not to underestimate Costa, but they managed to made it stupid hard for us.
