I'm looking at his performances as of late in this tournament, not his professional career during the last few years or so.

His positioning is completely off, he doesn't track back properly, he's all over the place and leaves too much space between the midfield and defense, does not win headers even against wingers like Robben, constantly makes bad decisions (like in that second goal where he should have headed the ball into any direction but the center of the box, because he had no vision)..

It's unbelievable actually.

As of late like this game only, right? He is the only redeeming player on this team along with Neymar. I agree that he is horrible today.

Did you watch the game against Germany, I haven't seen such a poor performance in years? This game has been A class in comparison.

I just don't see anything in him that justifies a high transfer fee. He is not a leader, he does not track back properly, mediocre in the air and so on. He is rather technical for a defender but just doesn't suit for continental Europe. A very good player of course but I just can't comprehend how a player can be such an emotional wreck - especially a defender.
