Why is the Orc in the middle 's crotch area glowing orange ?

glare/flare... from a bright light source- likely the sun.

Hah. What happens in Shadow of Mordor when you freeze the game is that all screen space effects are also frozen. That includes sunglare and even the sunsprite location. So likely what happened was he froze the game, then moved the camera in such a way that the sun was behind the orc. But the sunsprite was still showing as if the orc wasn't there.

His name was "Hargrod Flame Loins"...um yeah, it's the glare from the sun behind him. Freezing the camera has some drawbacks as Jim suggested. Didn't notice how bad it was till now...now I can't unsee it!

Gotta remember that it was designed to run on consoles. The visuals are very, very basic. That said, considering just how simple much of the visual components are, the game still looks pretty good.

I'm hoping we can get some AA going in this damn game though.

AA? in DX11 haha, that's funny. OGSSAA is going to be as good as it gets. (Good luck with that being playable beyond 30FPS @4k either)

But seriously, MGS:GZ while could use some tessellation and some textures could be better. It still looks amazing in a lot of ways, even if some is hampered by the crap SSAO (Which should've been replaced with HBAO+ for the NVIDIA sponsored PC version), bad DoF implementation, hit and miss FXAA implementation, no way to disable specific Post Processing effects, etc ad hominem.

Considering also that it runs at a solid 60FPS on PS4 better than just about every other title out there too. Compare that to 1600x900@Sub-30FPS from AC:Unity which not only looks like utter garbage in motion thanks to the metric fuck ton of aliasing and lod and draw distance pop-in, but is a joke compared to MGSV. Final Fantasy XIV:ARR is another example, game runs basically between 20-45FPS.

Also: Black Desert, keep it coming! Textures are really good looking! (Disappointed that they aren't improving the textures for FFXIV with the DX11 client, which i'm pretty sure they said they could do with DX11..Considering it's an AAA release for square compared to some unknown company in Korea.)

Pretty sure I heard that as well. But Pearl Abyss isn't entirely "unknown". Korea has its own world of developers and games that mostly just don't seem big here, but at home, they are giants. IIRC they make more money than most american game devs, because of their free to play models, and the fact that they practically pioneered F2P as a business model back in the early 2000's. Pearl Abyss is made of industry vets from older MMO developers, and seems like a love letter to the MMO culture. This is, and has been for some time, one of the most anticipated MMO's in a lot of places. If you don't like pop-in, however, you will hate this game. The performance is wonderful, but things pop in quite noticeably, and I'm not sure if it's their engine or what, but it's still in beta, albeit with only a month or so left till Korean release. Either way, I love it. Now someone hurry up and post some screenshots so I can post more BD!

It's not as if I've been spamming my screenshot button. Usually, I'll want some shots, and be stuck questing/leveling in the swamp area, which has many a spot to capture, but it mostly looks the same, despite a few areas and angles. But there are a few quests around 25-30 which take me places elsewhere, and when I'm there, I take shots like a tourist. My process then is Shoot, delete, delete, save, aww man, this one looks great, but it's not the best filter/tilt/blur/ToD/etc, so I save the shot and remind myself to go back later and shoot again. This is one of those places. While waiting for multiple panoramas to load, the Time of Day was a changin', and by the time I was ready to shoot more, it was too late, and night time had approached. I'll be back, though, and I'll finish what I started.

These shots fail to capture just how pretty this spot was, but here goes.

Some really impressive foliage in terms of size/density/draw distance for a PS360 game IMHO. Then again, apparently this part also ran at roughly 20 FPS on consoles.

I think the color pics are more impressive than your B&W.

That's because you haven't seen the B&W pics in color. Most of the time, if the lighting isn't in my favor, due to time of day, weather, clouds, etc. I will use the filters. This area was deep underground, and with the existing lighting, it was very hard to make out much of the detail. There are two black and white modes. One regular, and one that seems to ignore specularity and affects colors more. It's hard to explain, since I know very little about actual cameras, but it's a nice effect, imo. If I personally feel a shot looks better in color, I'll post it that way.

Anyways, you remember that shot with the layered background and the huge wall/castles in the back? I went there.

Love this shot.

That big ass city in the background? That's Probably Calpheon. That place, if I'm correct, is like ten times bigger than any other MMO city I've ever seen. And each corner is stuffed with detail. NPC's taking their daily trade routes, talking, going to the inn, etc. PLUS now there are plenty of real life players trading, be it themselves, or through workers they've hired. This is the nexus from which everything spreads at least on the Eastern side of the continent. I really should show a picture of the map. I plan on making some videos from here as well.
