2014 Microsoft E3 Conference

They presented more than exactly two games, and I'm not talking third party. Whether or not you like them is a different story.

They presented a whole lot of games that are multiplatform. If I wanted games like The Witcher 3, I'd get it on PS4 or the PC because let's be honest for games like that you want the best version possible.

I like a lot of games which is exactly why this whole presentation is extremely uninteresting. From what I can see, they presented exactly two games (CG trailers from what I read too) that are unique to the platform, aren't a remake, haven't already been announced, or are likely better on other platforms. This means what I am looking for are new unique game announcements, which seems to be Crackdown and Scaleform and even those reveals seem to be CGI. When misterxmedia is disappointed at the content, you know you've presented close to nothing that hasn't already been seen before.

If presenting games that have already been seen before nets you a good presentation, then people really have low expectations out of presentations at E3.

Platinum has a very vocal fan base. Also, it helps that they generally make fantastic games, even if they don't sell very well.

Overall from what I saw this year looked like a massive improvement over last year's shameful display. Looking forward to see how Sony turns up the heat and how Nintendo does what Nintendoes.

Scalebound looks like Warcraft meets Guyver suits.

They are games, yes, but why would I play them on xbox one? Ps4 will have the better version.

Whether or not I buy the games on PC (I will buy the games on PC), they're still video games and showing video games is better than not showing video games at the video games conference. A solid step up in regards to the show itself.

Yea i agree on that but i really expected more from MS. I also found out that phantom dust is not even new or a reboot, its a remake. That made it worst for me.

Very solid, no real megatons for me but I did like a few (exclusive) games I saw. Scalebound, Phantom Dust, Ori of the forest (or whatever), Inside (exclusive or no?), Sunset Overdrive, Crackdown. Looks pretty great, but I'll hold out on considering buying an Xbone until we get more info about SB, PD, and CD and the release dates are closer. Since they were all just CG vids, I'm very curious to know how far along they are in development and how they perform before paying that kind of money. If they look/perform like DR3, for example, no thanks. But I have highish hopes.

Nothing that straight up blew my mind but they had some legitimate surprises (Ori and the blind forest, for example) AND they managed to trim some serious fat. I'm satisfied with this conference.

crackdown and sunset overdrive are pretty much the same game, I'm not sure why they're wasting money on building both ip's. They should really focus more on one or the other.

Good luck ever creating a game that doesn't bear a resemblance to another series.

I don't get this.
I believe the point is that both Resistance and Ratchet & Clank are Insomniac games. It's not about random resemblance, Insomniac literally just recombined stuff they already did. Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course, but that's exactly the feeling I got as well watching the presentation.

Is it me or does Sunset overdrive look like Insomniac just put ratchet and clank, and resistance together... and then tossed in token charismatic white skater dude for added perceived cool factor. I thought both the parent games were cool, but didn't enjoy playing either. I'm very skeptical of Sunset overdrive.

I agree with you. Looks like a game that the Tweekers will like.

I'm not impressed

Fable Legends, Sunset Overdrive, Forza Horizon 2, Halo Collection.. All high profile exclusives coming this year with Quantum Break early next year and KI season 2, are people really blind enough to not see those games. I'm sorry but they are system sellers, and with all the great third party stuff it'll packed with high profile games starting this fall. Lots of exclusive betas also and first on xbox One content, anyone saying this is less than an 8 is a fool! Besides all the 2015 will be amazing!

It was an ok conference. Nothing big or surprising stood out.

But what I really didn't like was the end speech.

I understand that Microsoft is trying to push the game agenda forward but it seemed so unnecessary. Why are you telling us what we expect you to do? It makes no sense. Yes, everyone came down on then about the lack of game focus for TV but to push it so hard, it just seems lame to me. I think all everyone ever asked it for us to see it more than saying it. Phil didn't need to go that far tbh. We get it, but it's not really necessary to tell us so much. Just do what we expect you to do. Just do your job...

New Witcher 3 gameplay.....

thought the conference was pretty great, even if crackdown and the platinum thing are super early and they spent way too long on call of duty. sure they played it safe but it made me want an xbone, sunset overdrive looks great, i'm really excited to play phantom dust which never came out in europe, there's some interesting indie stuff (cuphead!) and i'm happy people keep giving platinum money.

I was very close with my MS conference prediction.

Lol I should of said I was an insider, got a lot correct.

I think you're delusional if you think things like Fable Legends, Sunset Overdrive, more Killer Instinct and Quantum Break are going to be "system sellers". They're the most interesting things on that list for sure, but Halo is the only guaranteed "system seller" on there.

I felt the same way. I saw the trailer and thought it looked like a cross between Ratchet and Infamous with typical Insomniac humor (not a bad thing) piled in. It looks like it would be fun for a bit, but then get boring since you seemed redonkulously overpowered.

... but the Halo collection is a collection of games that I already have. And half of them aren't that great! Nice with remastering and whatnot, but it's not exactly Halo 5 now is it?

Sunset Overdrive could, perhaps, be great. But Insomniac without Ratchet hasn't worked out so well.

That you even use betas as a perk is just a sad fucking reminder of the sad fucking state of things.

Some of these comments like sunset overdrive being the same as crackdown and "cgi, cgi" make it hard to not believe there is a strong anti-MS bias out there.

I just feel like as someone who's never really been into the xbox side of things as much it was super safe, relying on a lot of nostalgia to please existing fans but not doing much to attract anybody new.

I love Halo, but its not enough on its own to make me want to buy the console yet, I've played those games already.

Sunset overdrive looked good, but everything else was either multiplatform or stuff that I didn't get the excitement over.

Overall unexciting is a sentiment I agree with. If you're a giant fan of xbox franchises then it was probably great.

One thing I'll give massive props to though is the format of the conference. Just gamesgamesgames.

jesus i still cant get over the fact that they havent shown anything gears related

i mean for fucks sake throw us a bone here. a simple screen with artwork or a cg trailer so we know where the series is heading.

waiting for next e3 then shit

IMO: they met the baseline of what I expect in a console holder's conference, and hence was the best Microsoft E3 conference in years. That said, Battlefield Hardline looks better than anything Microsoft showed, so *shrug*.

7/10

The games looked fun. Sunset Overdrive, Ori, and the Playdead game were the best parts of the conference but all I saw were multiplatform games with timed-exclusive content and some 1st party exclusives that won't be released for many years.

Reading some people's posts on here I half-expected MS to moneyhat the next "Red Dead" game.

Nothing at the conference screamed "I need to own an XB1" and like others have said, it would have been a megaton if they dropped the Kinect and the price at this presentation.

Having said that, XB1 owners have a lot to look forward to in the fall, and if you're more into multiplayer games you're going to have a ton of hours sunken into online gaming.

I just got off work, Phantom Dust (HOLY SHIT) and Scalebound (HOLY SHIT).

But other than that, how was the conference? Gonna go around gathering data now for the E3 summary topic, but just want a general impression of any big news I missed other than the two above. (I know Tomb Raider was announced, but fuck modern Tomb Raider)

More than half the time was spent on already announced 3rd party games. Witcher, Call of Duty, Tomb Raider, Evolve, Assassins Creed, etc.

They also announced Halo Master Chief Collection that includes Halo 1 Anniversary, Halo 2 Anniversary, Halo 3, and Halo 4. Conker popped out during the Project Spark trailer and cut the logo with his chainsaw, however it was just for a Project Spark DLC thing. They also showed Fable Legends and it looked very mediocre. Crackdown 3 was also announced.

Not going to buy an Xbox One, I have no interest in the current Xbox exclusives or first party titles. But I applaud Microsoft for focusing on games and leaving the media/tv stuff out. 7/10

And that's where that went completely over my head.

LOL I forgot those IPs belong to Insomniac. lol
