2014 Microsoft E3 Conference

Just because the PS4 version will have a 100-200 more p's, the X1 version will still provide a great experience and MS have just as much reason to show these games as sony does.

No they don't, deal with it >[

They are now Nintendo, bring your first parties/moneyhats/newIPs only

As a non-Forza non-Halo fan, this conference did little for me. That said, I don't know how many people were huge fans of Microsoft's first party offerings and planned on not getting an XB1, but I bet it's going to be tough for anyone in that category to stay away for long. The Halo collection seems like a really good value for old fans and for capturing new ones. I do feel like Microsoft delivered to the fans of their established franchises, and the indie presence was cool to see.

Nothing that straight up blew my mind but they had some legitimate surprises (Ori and the blind forest, for example) AND they managed to trim some serious fat. I'm satisfied with this conference.
Another one I want to see more of. Gave me some strong Team Ico kind of vibes but in 2D form, and looked smooth in actual play to boot.

7/10

Liked sunset over drive

Liked phantom dust

Other than that, no intriguing exclusives. Microsoft hasn't made me want to buy their console as yet.

As previously talked about...only people who care about differences on multiplatformers are members of this forum. Didn't matter during ps3 days and it doesn't matter now (except for fallout and skyrim) :)

I don't know man, in the UK both consoles are close (or at least closer than everywhere else) yet PS4 sold 49% of Watch dogs units by itself. Tomb Raider sold twice as well on PS4 too. People seem to care about this stuff going by numbers.

Sony are really going to have to do something special to beat Microsoft this year, that was fantastic.

I think Sony will have a very stat filled event but with some really damn good looking games but they really need to impress with some new IP's people want. They are going into this at full speed, so I wonder what they will show off?

The big question, did MS deliver on the hype and expectations they themselves worked to build up? Did they meet expectations?

I said earlier I thought it was a real solid conference, but it did lack the real "wow-moments" I feel we were promised.

MS had a solid show- less kinect, LOTS of emphasis on multiplayer with dedicated servers being mentioned enough times. Kamiya announcement and Witcher 3 gameplay was a nice treat.

My friends are fairly casual, definitely not aware of this forum, and they knew that multiplats are superior on PS4.

Project Beast, H1Z1, Drive Club, Destiny, Hardline, Rime, Shadow of the Beast, Hohokum, N++, 1886, Wipeout (let me dream), Fear Effect 3 (believe) and perhaps some other exclusives.

I really have no idea what Sony will show, they do definitely have the potential to better Microsoft, but I don't think they will unfortunately.

Disagree. Phantom Dust was a huge suprise, but it's a niche game, Crackdown 3 was not that huge of a suprise, we knew it was coming, Sunset Overdrive looked amazing, best game there + a whole lot of indies that is also coming to PC. Halo collection was also very cool, but we knew it was coming and most people have probably played the games.

Im not saying it was bad, it was good, but not anything megatonish.

Giving it a strong 6/10.

Hrmmm...they did say it was all about games and it was. Crackdown and PD has me hyped and the rest of their lineup was pretty solid overall. Halo collection will be neat. Fable looks like a very different game than the old games but it needed a fresh take. Sunset looked like bonkers fun and I need to see co-op! Overall nothing amazingly megaton but a god lineup for fans.

It isnt close, ps4 has a lead a decent lead if im not mistaken, conference was ok id give it 6 saved by halo collection tbh.

A really solid conference, there wasn't anything unexpected revealed or any big megaton, but the conference was filmed with games and most of them were given full gameplay trailers. An 8/10 from me and a good conference to compare future E3's to.

They may not have been megatons, but they are still solid first party games. The conference itself was a major step up over their 2011 and 2012 conferences. Solid 8/10 imo.

Killer show IMO. All it was missing is a really big reveal.

100% games and said everything that needed to be said and nothing more.

Project Beast looks like the most interesting to me at this moment and its probably a year+ out.

New Wipeout would be awesome though. :D

Shame the presser is so late/early for the UK. Damn you work!

Indie stuff saved the show for me. Nicely presented "conference", but most of the actual games were uninteresting or available on ps4 anyway. CG trailers are garbage as well, so that killed some hype also.

So you actually believe a developer saying it was running in-engine?

Like most developers, they lie.

Any time I hear in-engine, I think of CGI, everytime I hear running on "so and so console" I think of in-engine or highest detail on PC.

Why wouldn't I believe them? The current build of the game looks a lot better than the reveal.

If Sony Santa Monica put "the following is entirely in-engine footage" I believe them. Especially if they can surpass it, like they did.

Yep. I think the conference will get a lot of positive reactions simply due to MSs horrible conferences the few last years.

Yeah, it truly sucks. I'm going to try and stay awake or at least check in at 3am or thereabouts, but I suspect I won't be able to with having to get up by 7am for work.

5/10
Sunset Overdrive is why I have my Xbox One and it looks like the only got to have title for the system. They might as well put a lot of their marketing muscle behind that title because they haven't got much else. This is going to be a very rough year for Microsoft.
Eh there's still Phantom Dust and Scalebound for me but other than that, I agree. If you're not sold on the XB1 there honestly wasn't much here to convince you otherwise. Shocked MS placed so much emphasis on multiplats though since all of them are guaranteed to run better on PS4.

I'd say, for this being the supposed "make or break" E3 showing for the X1, they certainly didn't blow the doors off.

Sony very well could, or Sony could also be very boring. Either way i don't see it turning the tide of any console salesfigures anytime soon.

Good showing from MS.

This winter is looking great with Halo, FH2 and Sunset Overdrive.

I only hope it's not too long before we see these CG trailers turn into gameplay.

Well shit, I guess I'll be getting an XB1 at some point. Phantom Dust has pushed me over the edge, and as a huge Halo (mostly Bungie) fan, I can't pass up that collection. Sunset Overdrive looks promising as well, but my faith in Insomniac has waned over the past few years, so I'll remain cautiously optimistic.

MS had a good enough conference when you compare it to their previous ones in the last few years but those were so awful they wouldn't be that hard to beat. It only seemed good because of that.

However, the games they showed weren't very appealing and a lot weren't actually gameplay footage either. It looked like they were just going off a check list as quickly as possible.

The games felt too forced and in your face like the majority of their games very dudebro western American audience targeted big explosions etc terrible art designs (just look at generic big monster #5267 in Sunset Overdrive)...very by the numbers.

More shooters...a new Forza, a new Fable, new CoD with timed DLC that no one cares about a lot of it was the same thing as it's always been. It was all just very safe like they were trying too hard. Stuff like how they kept emphasising 1080p 60fps because of all the bad press they've gotten about the disparities.

No amount of convincing to the public will narrow the gap with hardware differences such as the big gap in the GPU's.

It makes me dislike the company when they churn out reports to the press and people who don't know anything will believe stuff like Kinectless Xbone will be as powerful as PS4. Sadly most people on my friends list will lap this up and believe it.

At the end of the day most of the games they showed will look better on PS4 they might look good on Xbone but they will have less tearing, higher resolutions more stable fps better aliasing or a combination of the above on PS4.

Good attempt by MS from last year but I'm simply not convinced anymore it all feels forced.

And when are those coming out? They're years out (well Phantom Dust may be next year, could be 2016). I'll get hyped for those when they actually show gameplay.

I think the issue is that I visit here too much. If I had no idea about the ntkrnl leaks or didn't see the master chief leak or the crackdown leak earlier today, id be ridiculously pumped. But thats the nature of perusing these sites and wanting to know spoilers. When it happens, your are sort of let down. Like if That ps4 beast game hadn't leaked, it'd probably shut down neogaf when revealed. But theres a million view thread on it

The MS conference was safe. They're going to push Sunset overdrive and Halo hard this fall

Halo, FH2, Fantasia, SO, Dance Central, Killer Instinct Season 2, Ori and the Blind Forest, Project Totem, D4. MS actually had a pretty stacked Fall 2014 as far as MS published games go.

Edit: DC isn't MS published, but still XB1 only I think
