Sounds like it might work similar to how 360 played original Xbox games. He said you put in a disc and it "starts the download", so there must be some sort of compatibility profile

Franchise is obviously getting milked to hell and back as the publishers try to throw out games as quickly as humanly possible.

tbh you'd have to to be an extremely massive dark souls fan to get excited for that. DS2 was a disappointment for a lot of people and DS3 is looking to be the exact same.
