Alright conference, i'd probably give it a 6.5/10 if I had to give it a rating. I'll echo the person who called it fairly safe.

Favorite thing I saw in that entire conference was Cuphead, looks really great. Popeye the Sailor Man: The Video Game. That Ashen game looked good too, reminded me a bit of Ico.

The Rare Collection seems like good value opposed to many other remasters and collections, 30 games for $30. Incl. Battletoads!!!

Rare Pirate game looked neat, I look forward to seeing more on that.

360 B/C is huge, could be a deciding factor for those 360 owners who haven't bought a current gen console yet.

Fable Legends is a F2P moba-esque game, so yeah... blech. It didn't interest me last year, and it doesn't interest me now.

CGI trailers in the middle of the conference were, again... blech (i.e. The Division)

Halo/Gears don't really interest me anymore

Minecraft Hololens stuff looks like it has some potential, we'll see how the final product/thing turns out though.

Mediocre conference. BC would of had more of an impact 2 years ago. Also the fact that it is so limited. Not sure why people are acting like its a megaton.

I can't remember all of the details, but I want to say that last year's conference was better (again, going strictly on what I remember about last year's conference).

I'll be stunned if Sony can upstage this.

I'd be stunned if they didn't. There really wasn't much here.

The developers of each game have to release an update to the title for it to work. Supposedly they have "100s of games" by the end of 2015, but arguably, it might be limited based on the developer.

They said specifically, "No work is required by the developer. They just need to give permission".

Holy cow! what the fuck is this? If you weren't surprised by Backward compatibility, Rare Collection, Recore, Sea of Thieves, etc. then tell us how you got that info before hand? Why didn't you share oh Mr. wise one?

Surprised is one thing. Pleasantly surprised is another. Besides the backward compatibility (which is fucking huge for lots of folks) nothing you named was a big deal, in my opinion.

The developers of each game have to release an update to the title for it to work. Supposedly they have "100s of games" by the end of 2015, but arguably, it might be limited based on the developer.

For instance, EA isn't likely to do updates for Madden '06 - Madden 15 360 version when they're releasing Madden 15+ on Xbox One. There's a couple games I really hope get ported, Mass Effect (confirmed by the image of it), Trials HD & Trials Evolution, NCAA Football '14 (the last college football game ever). Similar to with how EA Will do Madden, there's a lot of serialized games that probably won't be updated... Like, will Ubisoft do Assassins Creed IV When they released it already on 360 and X1...? Probably (and hopefully) not.

I imagine the pitch to publishers is to port(or however "BC" works) to the XB1 to keep making money off DLC and micro transactions. I imagine most of the games that work will be ones that make good money off those two things.

I think Microsoft was trolling with the Hololens at first on purpose. Showing the Oculus-like VR "cinema play" of Minecraft. Only to bust out the awesome 3D shit.

Recore, pretty much the one totally new thing that looked potentially cool.
Its amazing to me that I can watch gameplay demos for big beloved AAA series that I love and find nothing memorable - but a few fleeting moments of an unnamed game flashed on the screen between a dozen other games was enough to stick with me.

If I were an Xbone owner I think I'd be happy. I think. It was a solid show but nothing really stood out, imho. Halo looked like Halo and Gears looked like Gears which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Lack of Call of Duty was probably the most surprising thing.

I did not expect to be impressed by Microsoft's conference, but I was. Nothing like getting your ass kicked to motivate you, I guess. Good for them, and good for us. My XBO's been sitting there mostly unused since launch, but it looks like it'll get a lot of use this year.

$30 for that lot is incredible value.

6/10. Way too safe for all the hype that was being generated.

+New controller
+Cuphead looks amazing
+Rare Replay, I can replay older Rare games
+Xbox 360 BC
+Recore sounds cool, but there was no gameplay so I'm not even sure what to think
+No Call of Duty

-Halo, Gears, Forza, Tomb Raider look like more of the same but just higher resolution
-Too much CGI, not enough gameplay
-Ubisoft and indie games put me into a boredom coma
-The teased Rare game is a Pirate MMO that looks like generic as hell
-No Banjo
-Xbox 360 BC seems limited
-Horribly deceptive hololens demo

Basically Sony and Nintendo are almost guaranteed to have way better showings unless they seriously fuck up. I own an Xbox One and I'm honestly wishing I got a PS4. Sony seems to be making a lot more interesting games while MS keeps constantly having Forza, Halo, Gears pushed out as their main guns. While they're all good games to the people who like them, they're really samey and hard to get excited over. Sony's games seem way more ambitious and "new".

This. So many haters in here. Or, fanboys maybe.

eh I dunno for me it's about when to buy an xbox one... Fallout 4 mods is awesome, Halo, Gears, Forza, .........errrrr pretty good...... but not exactly unexpected... battletoads would have been pretty epic.

BC , no thanks. Already sold my 360 for a reason and it wasn't for the money.

I thought it was a pretty good conference, it had my attention for a good deal more than previous one's. I'm not running out to pick a One up today, but I can certainly see a good holiday deal being my jumping off point.

7.0/10

+ BC
+ Dark Souls 3 Trailer
+ Cuphead

- Tomb Raider looked rather underwhelming (maybe should get delayed, too?)
- Gears of War 4 felt different.... not like the "old" Gears. Looked like a generic shooter.
- No "new" Battletoads or Banjo (Pirate online game looked meh)

Good conference overall.

I think everyone can agree Cuphead is rad as hell.
Which is good!

That was awesome, bc, shed loads of games, no exclusive content bullshit, hololens, valve vr partnership, indies look amazing, rare new IP with the old rare style with a shared world? I dunno what some of you watched but there was no weak points and pure good content with a few megatons. A+

Sony has to do a few simple things to way outdo MS..

announce Kingdom Hearts 3 as an exclusive and show gameplay + release window
Show Last Guardian *wink wink
Announce GT7
show that RPG by the Killzone dev
show new God of War
show Persona 5 with Release date
show epic Uncharted gameplay section
2 or 3 more surprise AAA announcements
great indie games

that would absolutely blow what MS just did out of the water for me.

Are mods for fallout 4 exclusive to xbox one on consoles? If so I guess I'll be switching my ps4 preorder

If they were, MS would have said Exclusive to Xbox One. Since they didn't, I am expecting to hear the same thing later today about the PS4 version. If they are Xbone exclusive, MS missed an oppotunity there.

At least they mentioned the Xbox streaming on Oculus without insinuating that it was otherwise Oculus-compatible, fair enough, but they should have specified Windows 10 when they were talking about HoloLens.

Cuphead was the highlight of the show for me with Rare's game looking intriguing too.

Not much interest in anything else they showed. Am I the only one who thought that was kind of weak and very safe? Lots of CG trailers, even for that controller. Disappointing.

Can only go off what Phil has been saying on twitter in the build-up to the conference and that was about the greatest lineup in xbox history

If that's the case then that reflects poorly on xbox

I can't think of one current gen game that wasn't already known that was announced that genuinely blew minds

Surprised is one thing. Pleasantly surprised is another. Besides the backward compatibility (which is fucking huge for lots of folks) nothing you named it was a big deal, in my opinion.

Little surprises is one thing, but NO SURPRISES is another. Get my drift?

I'm not an Xbox owner (nor a PS4 owner for that matter), and this conference did nothing to convince me to become one. I guess it was great for people with an Xbox One, and especially for those who have a 360 as well, but there's nothing for me here.

6/10 from me. It was a solid showing, with a legit game-changer in the backwards compatibility, but other than that it was completely unremarkable from the perspective of someone who doesn't own an Xbone and still needs a good reason why to buy one.

- Gears of War 4 felt different.... not like the "old" Gears. Looked like a generic shooter.

I felt like they just didn't want to show so much this much far out.

Doesn't look like the Locust are the bad guys anymore. Had more of a horror/survival feel.

Very interested to learn more.
