2020 PC Screenshot Thread of No Compromises

Death Stranding in 21:9 glory.

It looks and runs great, one of the first true native DX12 games (requires DX12 FL 12_0 so don't run on first GCN and Kepler), if that what Sony ports will look like I'm in :messenger_smiling_with_eyes:

What do you mean requires?

Kepler is DX12 FL 11_0 and first GCN (7970 for example) is DX12 FL 11_1. This is the first game i heard with true DX12 (FL 12_0) renderer AFAIK. At least that's what I read about it I don't have older cards to test it.

Is it just me or Halo 2 is the best looking game in the MCC? I heard Halo 3/ODST/4 didn't get the same remake treatment so they look the same as the originals just with the slightly better LOD/shadow rendering and higher resolution and framerate of course. Halo 3 clearly looks graphically inferior to Halo 2 in the MCC for me so i imagine it's the same with ODST, i'm wondering if Halo 4 will look on par on better than 2 then.

Halo 2 Anniversary is the newest game (2014) on MCC. I released a couple years after Halo 4 and was made for the Xbox One. Halo 3 never got an anniversary version, so you're just looking at upscaled 2007 visuals. ODST and 4 likely won't see remasters either. The team that handled the Halo 2 Anniversary remaster did a really good job overall, so I was disappointed when there was no Halo 3 remaster.

I think Halo 4 on Xbox One X looks better than Halo 2 Anniversary on PC though in just about every way (outside art direction which is a subjective thing). For Halo 2 Anniversary, the game is built on top of the original, and is running the original underneath. Things like explosions, particle effects, sight lines, enemy count, etc are all based around the hardware Halo 2 came out on (the OG Xbox), just given a really nice new coat of paint. Halo 4 came out at the tail end of the x360's life and honestly looks better than it should on that hardware. It looks better than Halo 5 in many respects (though Halo 5 ran at 60ps) It scales up extremely well to to 4K as can be seen on the Xbox One X version.

Yeah I'm playing through them now and it was pretty rough going from Halo 2 to Halo 3 when you've been spoiled by the more awesome cutscenes, audio and graphics of H2 anniversary.

That's what happens when you have a movie quality effects studio like Blur make cutscenes for your video game. I'd love for Blur to take a crack at Halo 3's cutscenes, the people look so terrible.

After watching the Digital Foundry video, I predict this thread won't know what's hit it when the new Microsoft Flight Simulator takes off (or should that be lands) :messenger_beaming:
