Eminem

goddamit, Griese!
I haven't seen a thread on it yet. I've always liked 311, but never in my favorite bands or anything.
But shit, this is my CD of the year. The best chilling/party album released in years. After listening to it for 3 weeks, this is definitely their best CD.

Whiskey and Wine, Frolic Room, Don't Tread on Me, Getting Through to Her, Thank Your Lucky Stars, etc.

The entire CD is filled with great songs. Their mellow stuff is so, so very good. It's as close to reggae you can get while listening to rock. And this whole CD is full of it.

I gave it the once over. "Don't Tread On Me" (the song) is fantastic, one of the best 311 songs, in my opinion. However, the rest of the album didn't do anything for me. A couple of cool guitar riffs here and there, but I couldn't get into the album at all. Maybe I'll have to listen to it some more, but my first impression of it is bad. Now, this is coming from someone who's favorite 311 album is Transistor (by far), and I've been listening to them since the S/T (blue) album.

As a longtime 311 fan I have to say I hated the album the first 2-3 times through it. It was painful. After having it in rotation for a few weesk I gotta say it's grown on me a TON. I would rate it definitely above Evolver and From Chaos.

ANd there will always be 311 hate, you can say they're awful if you want - that's your opinion. With 311 you either love them or you just don't get it.

I've never listened to 311 before and I picked up this album the otehr day. It's pretty good in my opinion, a little too upbeat for my tastes, but not by much. A pretty good album all around though.
