3DS Streetpass Experiences

Sucks living in the UK for streetpassing :( This system feature is almost entirely useless over here, the odds of running into someone with a 3DS in sleep mode with streetpass enabled is incredibly low. Maybe at an airport or something, but other than that it just won't ever happen.

I got a 5 or so in Central London. And usually get a least one day just walking about in town.

Glasgow's pretty good. I took a walk for 40 minutes after work and got about six and that was before 5pm on a weekday. Perhaps more likely to be stabbed than some other parts of the country but every cloud and all that I guess.

Capital city of the country and there was 5. Up in Yorkshire there's practically no chance of getting 1 :(

I'm bringing my JPN 3DS back to the UK with me this Christmas. I look forward to street-passing people in the North West and blowing their minds with Japanese :D

I do quite well streetpassing in the UK, but considering I commute around the second largest urban area in England, it's still not a huge number.

Those streetpass games dropped at the right time. Went to Videogames Live in Allentown, PA the other day and got a good chunk of puzzle pieces and soldiers. Managed to build up an army of 6000.

Played yesterday and the game was half of that to fortify my castle :(
I dont get enough hits to build the army regularly so this is going to be tough

They are revamping the system for the west though. Basically, wi-fi hotspots that let you connect with Nintendo network will store people who pass it. Then someone else who then later passes it will receive the streetpass.

I don't know when Nintendo decides to implement it, but it should make getting streetpasses much easier for a lot of people outside of Japan.

Travelling through London just yesterday (from Victoria to Tower Bridge) netted me the maximum 10 streetpasses there and again on the way back.
I'd imagine it's harder to not get some if you take the tube regularly.

It's nice to see a few people playing the new games too.

I'm working my way through Professor Layton x Ace Attorney atm. Out of curiousity, will people see this game through American 3DSes when I streetpass them?

EDIT: Basically I am asking, are streetpasses region locked too? :P

They'll see it but the game's name might not be translated. If they don't recognize the game icon they will probably have no idea what they're seeing.

Streetpass puzzle pieces are region locked however. There is no way for someone with a US system to get Japan only puzzle pieces.

Yet there's accomplishments related to meeting Mii's from different/every region. What a gyp!!!

I (UK) met a couple of random Canadian Mii's yesterday, and I only ventured into Chatham High St for an hour or so. managed to get some puzzle pieces from them, but they only had a couple of pieces for a few puzzles, and all ones I already had, so they probably didn't have any region specific ones.

At first I was worried then I saw it was McDonald's and an airplane which are boring puzzles.

Living here in Boston, I get two streetpasses a day minimum. And I walk to work, so I get dem coins.

I guess there are a bunch of common puzzle sets, and then some region-specific ones then? Because I get plenty of puzzle pieces here in Japan with my US 3DS.

Not that is matters. Puzzle Swap is easily the worst part of Streetpassing.

Also for the mansion/manor game, does it make sense to grind after finding the exit or is it better to move on to the next floor right away?

In general my Streetpass experiences have been quite disappointing. Except for my brief time in Japan and my visits to special game events, I rarely have had more than a few hits. This includes me trying daily in The Netherlands, Belgium (which I visited last week), Italy, Germany, Hong Kong, Canada and the U.S. (across almost half the States) and the UK where I live now (in the Reading area, which is smack in the middle of the most thriving and tech oriented part of the UK).

I am really bummed out by this because I actually like taking along my 3DS to collect Mii's (probably more than I like playing most 3DS games to be honest).

Also, was it ever explained why some countries have very specific sub regions while others are only divided into one or two? Or why some countries have no map at all? This would seem like an easy thing to patch in, doesn't it?

And finally (despite my bad luck when collecting Mii's): what is Gaf's consensus on the four new Mii plaze games? Are they similar in quality and charm to the old two, despite not being developed internally?

Get a fair few in central Edinburgh. On the train here every day I usually pick up someone. Back when I was biking to work, I would pick up a couple of people while cycling down Princes Street. I'm not sure if I was picking them up as I went past (which is cool) or if it was when I got stuck behind the endless stream of buses hogging up the road, their fumes pouring out into my face (really not cool.) Back down in Bolton and Lincolnshire though, there was hardly anyone bothering even at launch.

Saying that, I forget my 3DS most days anyway. Should really just leave it in my bag.

I seem to commute in the 3DSless part of London. But its been getting better. Might get a couple a week vs nothing at all earlier in the year.

And I still haven't met a single person from N.Ireland.

I really wish there was a higher limit to the tags you can get. Going to an event and always cleaning out the 10 people you met to make sure you can get more is really tedious...

Looks like they sent out the Mario & Luigi puzzle in North America. I got the Xenoblade puzzle instead since I was missing it.

Hey, are your Puzzle Swap games showing you the total number of puzzle pieces you can get? I noticed my NA 3DS doesn't anymore, but my JP one still does.

Does choosing your castle in the Warrior's Way game make a difference later on or is it purely aesthetic?

Isn't that the mechanic that allows you to hire more soldiers for play-coins?

Edit: Oh, there's aesthetic stuff too? You can tell that I'm only 5 kingdoms in.

I'm starting to appreciate Streetpass Garden a lot more. I haven't done any jobs yet, but there's something addictive about trying to get those
Phantom plants

Purely aesthetic as far as I know. It just sets the look of your castle, your monarch and your troops.

My European 3DS also doesn't show the total available puzzle pieces anymore :(

It's purely aesthetic until the end where you get wiped out by a space laser from someone who picked the futuristic castle if you didn't.
Because if you didn't pick the futuristic castle what's wrong with you.

I like Ninjas and Samurais. :(

Also, futuristic castle looks dumb.

I streetpassed with five people today, four of them were playing Animal Crossing. The fifth was Fire Emblem. Then streetpass mii plaza has the fucking gall to ask me if I want to go to the e-shop to download Animal Crossing just because of that.

I go to swapnote, and so many people keep sending me their damn life story from their stupid towns. I don't care how many bells you have or how many animals you hung out with.

I can't escape this crap

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGHHHH

I HATE ANIMAL CROSSING

Also, I got two new Xenoblade pieces, a Skyward Sword piece and two new pieces for Mario and Luigi Dream Team. Pretty productive day.

You seem pretty angry, you should relax with a nice calm game like Animal Crossing.

I'm buying a new 3DS XL tomorrow. I can't handle not being able to use my L and R buttons on these new games. I need some that work :P

I cannot wait though. I love Mii Force

I will cut you.

Using your axe, purchased from the gardening shop? Careful, they break after too many uses.

Whelp, I'm slowly making it through the puzzles. I think between Starlets, Mario/Luigi U, Skyward Sword and Xenoblade, I'm lacking in 10 pink pieces. Which isn't too bad. But eh, NYC.

Are there any guides around for Streetpass Squad? I've finished it but finding all the gems to perfect it in some of the later ones are proving difficult!

There's a butchered translation of a Japanese guide here. It can be hard to decipher at times, but I got all the gems in the game so if there are any clues on that page you can't work out then I might be able to help you with it.

Streetpass Gardening is the worst thing ever. If that guy reminds me what plant Im growing one more time, Im going to shove my watering can up his stupid ass.
And I dont care about you either, Ms. Blossom.

The other 3 games are cool though. I especially like the space shooter.
Warriors Way is cool but I have no idea how Im going to get some of those tickets. Defeat an army twice my size? Uhh yeah, thats not going to happen

San Francisco. I've definitely seen a huge boost in hits in the last week. It's about to kick into overdrive once the wifi hotspot features work

just stepped into a mall for a couple minutes and got 4 tags

it wasn't that long ago when I had to spend an hour or more in the mall just to get a single tag. also I've unlocked all 5 of the new puzzles now!

I had both my 3DSes in my car yesterday afternoon. My JP 3DS apparently picked up two Streetpasses while driving, but my NA 3DS got nothing. This seems to be the norm when I have both around - the JP 3DS always gets first pickings, regardless of the circumstances. Are the launch 3DSes just not as good at picking up Streetpasses?
