3DS Streetpass Experiences

So, we did the family Disneyland trip this year - just got back after using my 3DS to roughly gauge my walking and ended up with about 25-30 streetpasses after two days.

One thing that is odd is that while I've FINALLY gotten some Music streetpasses (which most people appear to never bothered enabling), I have at least 3 Mii Plaza folks who never got registered as Mii Plaza streetpasses. Their Miis were never eligible for the puzzle/quest, and appear in the Plaza as "Added by Invitation" (or something to that effect) with less information in their profiles. All three appear to be from Music streetpasses.

I'm wondering whether the three had disabled Mii Plaza streetpass, or whether it's possible to get "incomplete" streetpass data from other people. That is, if someone has 2-3 Streetpass enabled titles, perhaps a brief communication period between the systems can result in a partial streetpass exchange.

My streetpass plaza currently has 44 individual miis and 60 hits. All that in some 250,000 steps so far. I have yet to streetpass with any demo units yet which is a bit of a let down.

Since getting my DS in June, I have found 16 people in streetpass!

It helps that I work in a mall and carry my 3DS in my pocket, but my most I found was the 5 from the harry potter premiere.

EDIT: According to my records, 158,263 steps have been taken!

Up until about 2 weeks ago I had some 2 street passes. One with my friend who also owns a 3DS and one random guy I met while I was buying Ocarina of Time 3D.

But then I went to San Diego Comic-Con...

Just a few days later I now have some 200+ street passes and about 150 people in my plaza. I went from not having a single Puzzle Swap piece completed to having every panel within 3 days. If the 3DS didn't cap at 10 street passes at a time, I'd likely have even more people and passes. Anyway, nothing beats going to a nerd convention to get your street passes on.

Lucky you, I missed out on my chance for some PAX tickets. Maybe if I hang around outside the convention I'll pick up a bunch of hits, probably would actually but I'm not that desperate. Good for you though.

They should release a new Mii Quest when the price drops since the StreetPass userbase is about to double.
Indeed, and a new batch of puzzles:

Mario Kart 7
Super Mario 3DLand
Paper Mario
Luigi's Mansion 2
Animal Crossing
Kid Icarus: Uprising
StarFox 64 3D
Skyward Sword
and any number of others

This is kind of weird. In the past couple weeks I've streetpassed the same guy 5 times, always within a few houses of my home. His Mii info still says 0 tags and plaza population of 1, even though I've tagged him 5 times. I thought maybe he just didn't want to close his Zelda game to go to the Plaza, but this time it actually showed him using the eShop as his last thing, so he definitely did close the game eventually. Why would he go to the trouble of setting up his Plaza for StreetPass yet never bother to look at his StreetPasses, or is it some kind of glitch that it keeps telling me he has no tags?

Had a 3DS for about a week now. Amassed about 37 000 steps and only a single Stree Pass hit so far.

Yesterday I spent about five hours walking around the Dublin city centre. Lots of people about too since it's a long weekend. Thought I'd be sure to get at least a few hits. Got home, opened my 3DS and nothing. Not a single hit. Guess the 3DS isn't very big in Ireland...

I don't think I've ever had a streetpass

I think I'll take the train to NYC and camp out at NINTENDO World and TRU Times Square just to break my streetpass cherry

I did that and it kinda felt dirty...like being a Nintendo prostitute or something.

seriously, taking my 3DS with me for walks is addictive LOL

I am so ashamed that I cannot resist it... I just need more steps lol

Well, I'm an idiot, because I didn't realise that you had to initially turn StreetPass on. Erp.

And that is why I don't have any streetpasses. For some reason I thought just creating a Mii was enough to get StreetPass working. Guess I should have read that giant manual.

I usually get one (sometimes two) whenever I go out. I haven't been out too much lately because of the whole heatwave thing. :P

I've finished Find Mii twice, but I did most of that with play coins.

I live in NYC and took it out only a few times, got 2 hits. 1 from my friend, someone i didn't know. I'm vacationing in Florida right now and I keep my 3DS on the whole time and still no people. :(

I wonder how many people don't have streetpass set up properly or fully for each application and game that uses it. I'm willing to bet there are a lot. The system is rather complicated. Nintendo should put all streetpass enabled applications and games in one menu like how the iphone has one page for all notifications for all your apps.

I got a couple hits in my stay by the Jersey shore, somehow got 3 tags in 2 minutes while my DS was charging in the hotel room.

Recently finished getting all puzzle pieces (mostly from passes, but some coins were spent to quicken it). Still haven't finished the dungeon even once, though. :/

Is there a cap on Miis for your plaza? I'm at 93 (including my 1). When I roll out with my 3DS again I'll probably get another 10+, so hoping it doesn't start losing old ones when it hits 100 or something.

Oh, also I see some of you as saying you've collected a bunch at once, is there any way to queue up more than 10 or do you have to actually check it? When I'm riding the train I don't mind checking it, but when I'm walking around the city is when I get most of my hits I think and I don't generally pull out my 3DS because I'm busy walking somewhere or taking pictures or chatting w/ someone, or who knows what....

This is exactly why i laughed. Leave it to Nintendo to complicate something so simple, all because they don't want to get sued.

Got some hits at the comic-con last week but I was surprised to finally get some Music streetpasses. This has got to be the most useless feature of the 3DS.

I actually have a mii plaza population of 216, I was at comic con, and have like 180 music tags. Around 90 street fighter.

What the hell where you the comic con guys doing wrong? Did you checked every half hour? Remember that the queue fills up with 10 miis

I got my first 2 streetpass hits in NYC on Saturday. I was near Rockefeller Center but didn't go in the Nintendo store. One of them was SSF4, the team was all Guiles and I easily took care of it.

It's kind of a stupid feature but pretty cool nonetheless.

Wait....they already do, don't they? It's in System Settings>Data Management>StreetPass. That's where you turn them on or off.

I was in syracuse for the weekend and carried my 3DS with me the whole time. Not a single Street Pass. I got one and was all excited, but turns out it was my wife. :/

Kind of, once streetpass is activated in a game or software application then it will show up where you are talking about. But each application or game needs to be configured first. So it makes sense because each game or app uses streetpass differently but I wonder how many people don't have nintendo sound streetpass set up or something because they didn't realize they had to set it up inside the app first.

Yeah, when I got my 3DS I didn't realize that I had to open each app to turn it on. I just figured it was turned on as default.

Two streetpasses in two weeks. That's more than what I got spending two months over at the University over the summer. I go to a lame school. :/ I didn't even get streetpasses at the mall.

Did people stop bringing their 3DSes out with them or something? I got a bunch of street passes in late June and early July but the last few times I've gone out and brought my 3DS with me, I've gotten nothing.

I street passed a girl named Camber that was playing Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars while walking around a local carnival.

that brings my total street passes to 2.. both females lol

my local gamestop has the demo unit set to street pass and you get Billy Mays.

Still nothing. Been around all three local malls multiple times, movie theaters, and even every goddamn Gamestop, nada. Bupkis.

Here's hoping the price drop fixes that.

I've pretty much stopped getting streetpasses. Thankfully I've managed to complete the Find Mii and I only have about 5 more puzzle pieces to buy.

Do you get the other hats by replaying Find Mii?

You have to complete Find Mii twice to get all the hats.

After the second completion you should have all 16 of the currently available hats, after that the answer would be no.

In Ireland, I've gotten a fair amount of streetpasses but recently on my visit to the US I got little to none, heck when I was in JFK airport (which was packed at the time) I only managed to get one steetpass hit. Not only that but I only ever saw one DS, really hit home that most people (kids included) are content to just use their phones.

Hi, I've noticed that there are a lot of people from NY who posted on this topic stating that they're not getting any luck on getting any Streetpass Tags. Well the thing is that we have a group here in NYC where we meet up and get Streetpass Tags as well as socialize with each other, making new friends in the process. This is a big group, and the most amount of people who attended one of our events was over 120-140 people. We hold events at least once or twice a month. We actually have upcoming events this month, such as a BBQ partnered up with S.O.S. Gamers, and a possible Nintendo World Store event on August 12th. We have a a Facebook page

http://facebook.com/streetpassnyc
and a Twitter page, http://twitter.com/streetpassnyc

Check us out.

Oh, and if you live outside NYC, check out Streetpass groups within your areas.

EDIT: I've neglected to mention, I have 1176 Tags, with 664 Miis in my plaza.

Got a street pass today. Started a new puzzle. Spent 100 play coins on it and still have 2/15 pieces left to collect. >_> Fuck this.

so i am visiting my family in Hong Kong, i have been taking my 3DS every where, and surprisingly i only got 1 street pass this few days! I'm kind of disappointed! i thought HK would be easier to get street pass since theres like 10X more people on the street here than in Toronto!

Hint: spending coins on puzzle pieces is only good for the first 9-10 pieces. The rest, you really ought to StreetPass from others.
