I am trying to understand how the SP relay works after reading these two posts:

So, if I got this right, it's like this:
- Server is accessed
- You get 1 piece of data for each of the (up to) 12 games you might have activated.
- You also get 6 new Miis for the plaza and unlike a real StreetPass, you only get the Miis and not their piece of SP data for each activated game, so no 6x12 but 1x12 [at most, and only one pass per title] + 6 Miis.
Did I get that right?
It's so funny to read your post. I've been in and out of this thread for a few years and no one has ever ask a question like this in this way. I guess everyone's brain works differently. Because of the way that you phrased your post I'm not not exactly sure what you might be confused about or what you might need more information on; I don't know what frame of reference you were coming from when you wrote that.
To respond most simply, nothing in your post seems wrong per-say, just a bit muddled.
To simplify what you wrote:
- Server is accessed
- You get 1 piece of data for each of the (up to) 12 games you might have activated.
- You get up to 6 pieces of data for the street pass plaza.
You seem to think that street pass plaza data or "Miis" (as you say it) share a special status within the OS. They don't. It is all just game/app-specific data. The street pass plaza data does not leave the street pass plaza. Nor does the data for other games leave their respective games.
If all of the 6 have played Bravely Default but there's currently no active BD data on the server (for whatever reason, if the last Mii connected didn't leave BD data on the server), you won't get BD data and vice versa, if none of the 6 have played BD, you may also get BD data too (for whatever reason, if there is BD data in the server).
Yes, that is theoretically possible. Again, game/app-specific data only relates to their respective games/apps. Within the street pass plaza you get to see the last piece of software that the person has played but that does not necessarily mean that they have street pass plaza activated for that title, though it does 99% of the time. This is kind of an abstract question.
So, the server stores 6 Miis but only one set of titles from the latest Mii connected and once you get that set of data, it's removed from the server and replaced by your own (but 5 Miis without SP data still remain).
As I said above, you are coming from the wrong perceptive by thinking about "Miis" as some distinct special thing: it simply stores 6 sets of Street Pass Plaza data.
Regarding the replacement of data, I will expand what I wrote above:
- Server is accessed
- You get 1 piece of data for each of the (up to) 12 games you might have activated. Your data then replaces this data and you can't Street Pass with this relay for these titles until another 3DS comes to replace your data.
- You get up to 6 pieces of data for the street pass plaza. Your data then replaces the oldest of the 6 pieces of data for the plaza, but this is only relevant to other people. You cannot pass with any of this data again (or until those 3DS owners return). For this reason it is common for me to only get 2-4 passes (instead of 6) when I visit my local relay.
I hope that was helpful.
