3DS Streetpass Experiences

Did anyone else get a streetpass for '8-4 Play' person (and GAFFer) John Ricciardi / johntv over the weekend?

Tomodachi Life was listed as the most recent software even though the game hasn't launched yet which leads me to believe that 8-4 Play is working on the localization.

I would normally assume that this was a special spot pass promotional Mii but I didn't get a spot pass message and it didn't have gold pants.

8-4 have friends at Nintendo (I'm guessing treehouse being localisers) who get them games early. They have gotten games early before but fall under the same embargo as reviewers do (like when they could only talk about the first 2 worlds of Mario 3D World...but I think they were too busy with work to get further than that anyhow).

If you manage to have another 3DS, you will get all the States.

Doesn't that make the award kind of pointless though? I went out and got all 52 regions the hard way after years of traveling around. I just don't see any point in faking it just so you can have another box checked off on the list of things you didn't actually earn - especially since you don't actually get anything for finishing it except a pat on the back.

I just PMed him. Yeah, it was just a random personal street pass.

Cool cool.

You can reuse an existing orb if you expand a room that contains one. If that isn't possible, the boss should still be doable; it'll just take a very long time.

Hmmm I think I have two areas in this room where there might be one... Guess I can use up a bunch of play coins I have to get help.

I actually managed to tag someone from Puerto Rico the other day. Didn't think I'd ever get that one.

Currently need 11 more states to fill the US map. I wonder when that will happen...

You'll get an Accomplishment for it when it does :) But wow lucky! I keep hoping I'll find someone from there when I head to the airport, but currently I just find tons of people from Anguilla, apparently.

I live in NYC and I've actually gotten that one a number of times. Large PR population here.

I still have like ~15 states left. I usually get a couple more whenever I go to an airport. That and conventions. When it comes to street pass it's all about conventions.

I have a 12% chance of growing the final flower in Garden.

This is the most exciting thing to happen in months. The closest I have ever been.

I'm looking forward to a new puzzle for June. I guess it is most likely to come during E3 at this point. In general I'm hoping we get new downloadable content during E3.

IIRC Rusty, Steel Diver, and NES Remix all dropped the same day they were announced in Directs. It will be interesting to see what arrives.

The 12% seed failed, but I did get a 17% seed out of it. Not sure about the seed shapes.

Hoping for more special miis from e3 so I can get the accomplishment.

You can't stop in the parking lot of McDonald's, it will show you a Nintendo Zone, but won't give you the passes until you have a strong connection. McDonald's also seems to have them on a timer, you get 2, then 2 more a few minutes later, and then finally 2 more.

I go to Starbucks usually, because there's a place to sit outside at most of them, so you don't have to go in if all you want are some passes. Haven't tried Burger King, so I don't know what that's like.

At the McDonalds I went to, sitting in the parking lot was sufficient for me. Mind you, the space I was in was directly next to the building so the signal was probably strong.

A week ago, I ended up setting an old router (Linksys WRT54G) with DD-WRT and it's now running as a Nintendo Zone relay point. Very cool. I'm now getting street passes from people all over the world. Some of them, I have run into multiple times. Very nice. I'm not abusing the system to get 100 streetpasses per day. Just getting 6-10 per day is good enough for me.

Cheating a little is still cheating. Pretty sure the homepassers are in another thread.

Has it been confirmed that some places give Miis out in batches? I've been to two McDonalds and a Burger King and they all only gave me three, while a Home Depot gave me ten.

Relays generally only give three or six at a time. Relays don't normally fill all 10 spots.

I've theorized that Home Depots are effectively multiple relays because it takes more than one wireless router to cover the entire store.

There is a theory that getting 3 is a software bug on your end to do with where the Mii plaza slot is in your streetpasses screen (i.e. activating another game or deactivating one might make it go to 6). But thing is I don't get why it affects only some relays for me.

He he he. I'm ok with it since I live/work in the suburbs and normally never get streetpasses except from my kids' 3DS.

Can you point me at the other thread? I can't seem to find it.

Sent in my 3ds last friday for repairs, they got it tuesday (technically ups was across the street monday and they're fucking lazy)

Haven't seen it update yet to being repaired yet, and it's friday. UGH.

Only need about 5 pieces, all of them blue.

Only need one more Find Mii 2 hat. Then I guess it's time to buy the other plaza games.

I have gotten the same 3 people in one Home Depot before. I was at one end of a home depot then went into the streetpass plaza gate. I then walked across the other side of the store and I got the same three people again.

All puzzle pieces

Need 1 hat from Find Mii 2 secret quest that I'll get later today or tomorrow.

Over 900 tags and 55 or so accomplishments including legit meeting a Mii on their birthday.

Nice.

I have had 1 puzzle piece left for the past few days. I'm hoping to finish it before the next puzzle pops so I can grind all of my coins into the new one.

My 3DS have Internet access at all hours of the day except during my commute, and I've gotten nothing so far. I wish SpotPass delivery was more consistent; I even missed a Special Mii during last year's E3 through no fault of my own.

Is the UK seriously going to get screwed over for another special Mii!?

What a joke, now with Tomodachi out you'd think they'd be flooding us with them so we can add them to our games...

I pass StreetPass Relays regularly and right now I seem to be just getting Mario Kart 7, Mario Golf and Animal Crossing stuff, as well as the usual Plaza Passes. Haven't had a single Tomodachi Life one yet and it's really bumming me out. :(

Where the f**k are our special Miis Nintendo Europe?

Why do the Americans get so many, how f**king hard is it to send a special Mii out over Spotpass for us?

Yes I'm that angry over a Mii. I was looking forward to getting some of those rare pink puzzle bits like last year to finish off my puzzles. :(

Its just, something that shouldn't be very hard to do yet they just go naaaaaaaaaaaaaaar for no reason at all. We get jack shit all year but I was like oh at least with E3 we should finally get something! NOPE. :|

(all will be forgiven if we do get lots like last year, it just hasn't happened yet)

At Christmas in Edinburgh I got about 15-20 per day, but that may have included passing through airports. Since then I've had 1 or 2 when out and about. Heading to Japan in October so that might be fruitful.

Didn't get a chance to check the 3DS last night but this morning both Aonuma and Sakurai were waiting for me at the gate.

Nothing on the JP 3DS as usual.

It was even worse this morning. I got the blue light so was all excited but it was 3 messages...all spam*.

*-Steel Diver sub wars is out has added itself to the spam I get every week telling me Miiverse is available on 3DS and streetpass relay points exist (I'm guessing getting a NNID shuts these up).

I just realized in Mii Force that you need a lv 3 green light to get those enclosed gems... Oh geeze getting 3 light green shirts via street pass won't be easy :/ Using coins won't help either unless chance is on my side, since they seem to like using colours that are unpopular among street passers, like brown and orange.

You're right that you need light greens, but you're totally off-based beyond that.

To start with, only the exterior color matters for your weapon levels. As long as you have one light green you can have two Miis beneath it of any color. Also, you can select up to three Miis that you have encountered before at a time. You can then select up to three light greens and then fill in the rest of your roster with randoms.

Yeah for some reason I missed the fact that you could pick past Miis on this... Thanks for the tips though! Got gems completed on those two sections I needed.
