3DS Streetpass Experiences

Did I already mention this? In the gardening game other players can see your watering can. I noticed a silver one on a Red Mii rather than the red it usually is.
I just realized in Mii Force that you need a lv 3 green light to get those enclosed gems...
This has got to be the worst thing about Mii Force. There are a few levels where I'd like to get better scores on but not receiving a light green Mii means I can't get certain gems (3-1,4-1) or beat certain enemies (3-1, the Ghosts)

Maybe I should change my Mii to light green. It won't help me but...

As for Orange, the long range is really good for the final boss.

All those Special Miis helped me get the 10 Special Miis Achievement. Thank Iwata for E3.

Streetpass game progress:

- Puzzle Swap: CLEAR. I demand a new puzzle now.
- Find Mii: CLEAR. All the hats/achievements that are possible to unlock in Find Mii 1, 2 and Secret Quest. I just beat Find Mii 1 with 17 warriors. Not playing anymore.
- Mii Force: CLEAR. All the reputations, gems, Arcade Mode. This game was the first for which I got all the plaza tickets. I only play for the score board when I have more than 2 Miis now.
- Monster Manor: NOT CLEAR. I'm at Floor 43, with Floors 1-40 completely filled. Missing two plaza tickets: beat all puzzle boxes (Missing 4. You'd think with 1300 SP hits I'd have done this by now.) and that darn "Find a second plaza ticket in a Gold Chest". Grinding those gold-friendly rooms.
- Flower Town: NOT CLEAR. 69/80 breeds, even though those don't count towards tickets anymore. 6 jobs to fulfill to get the remaining 6 plaza tickets. I'm doing them all anyway.
- Warrior's Way: NOT CLEAR. Definitely the hardest game of all. I don't even have 800k troops yet and I've been playing for almost a year. I'm missing 10 plaza tickets. This one will take a long time as I haven't beaten the game once and you get one for beating it twice.

Technically three, although you just need to reach the final level on loop three, not complete it.

Monster Manor's puzzle boxes are tricky to get. You have to actually make sure you encounter people who -haven't- played the game multiple times, as those are the ones that give you puzzles you haven't done yet (as opposed to puzzles they've done that you then compete against their time for).

You should definitely do the jobs in Flower Town if you can! You know you want those hats.

Troop count doesn't matter in Warrior's Way for clearing it; every conquest area scales to your army size as of the first time you challenge them. Getting all the way to 10 million just means every army you encounter will be 10 million too. It's actually better to keep your army as -small- as possible until you have your 2.9 clears because it's easier to recover from a loss that way.

Woo, Itagaki became my 10th Gold Mii!

Seeing my streetpass of the Smash Bros Demo 3DS hurts me also.
I went through my queue this morning and I got Itagaki as well as another special one for Splatoon (I wish I knew the developer's name). The Splatoon one had a Blooper (squid) hat on, which definitely made me smile.

What he said. First off, only certain Miis will ever give you puzzle boxes. Second, you need fulfil certain requirements to get the puzzle box. Here's a good explanation from Gamefaqs:

For a puzzle box to appear, a mii has to:
Own the game regardless of tags (a game owner mii gives you puzzle boxes its already completed).
or
Have two or more tags (a non game owner 2+ tag mii guarantees you a new puzzle box).

--

To receive a puzzle box from miis, you have to:
Already set the mii's piece
and
Make a 2x2 room or bigger in the same session

Progress, eh?

Puzzle Swap - Chibi Robo will hit Europe in a few weeks so that is a panel to look forward to.
Quest 2 - Quite a few secret quests left. I'm just trying to do the bottom-most routes now (2 runs left of these) before going back to the easier routes. They are annoying. Blew 24 coins beating the reaper commander (curses are annoying) then next room is an ice room.
Squad - 8 more runs until all titles.
Garden - 4, I think breeds left until 80 then the real games begins. 1 is non-phantom (I might try that one if my phantom offspring get nowhere)
Battle - I don't know at least 75 Monarchs remain and relays are so variable with 0-5 in one grab (today's grab managed to get 0 streetpasses) then most the people are playcoin wasters with asshole even split armies for their 10 million troops. Otherwise all tickets and doing nothing as the unfun final battle is all I can fight (once I fight 300 monarchs I'll try to lose so I can complete the sound test). This game would have worked better if play coins were used like in Garden.

I streetpassed Yoshinori Ono when I was working at Capcom. He was playing Kid Icarus at the time but his difficulty average was only 1.6. I had a nice laugh about that. I should use him in Tomodachi Life, I bet he'd be awesome.

If I have the 10 people max waiting for me at the plaza, does that prevent other people, who don't have 10 on their side, from streetpassing with me?

For any travelers, Midway Airport in Chicago seems to be the streetpass relay heaven. It seems each gate is it's own terminal. Departing I could walk up and down and collect a ton. Arriving I just had to clear them out as fast as I could so get more. Ended up with 18 when my flight arrived.

I hope I don't offend anyone by asking a quick, StreetPass unrelated, 3DS question. I can't find a lot of active 3DS dedicated threads. I need your help!

I'll be going on a trip and figured i'd treat myself on a new 3DS game.
I kind of forgot there are loads of games i wan't to play/check out.
So these titles have my interest, could someone help me pick?

- Fire Emblem
- Bravely Default
- Etrian Odyssey 4
- Soul hackers (I've read EO4 would be the better jrpg?)
- Proffessor layton game
(not sure about this, multiple games out there but never played anything like it)

To not derail this thread I'm hoping for 1 reply and just buy the recommended title.

I'd go with Bravely Default out of that list hands down, but it's the only one of that list I've actually played.

- Fire Emblem: Probably my all time favorite TRPG and my most played 3DS game (something over 150 hours). Heavy anime aesthetic, so keep that in mind if that's not your thing.
- Bravely Default: BD feels like the spiritual successor to the SNES Final Fantasys. Fun characters, addictive street pass features, and a phenomenal job system.
- Etrian Odyssey 4: Haven't played it.
- Soul hackers (I've read EO4 would be the better jrpg?): I tried to get into this. I came in hoping for 90s nostalgia but I found it to be too dated even given that expectation. I plan to return to this eventually.
- Proffessor layton game (not sure about this, multiple games out there but never played anything like it) : You've never played any of the Layton games? Classic addictive brain teasers with a faux Sylvain Chomet aesthetic.

FE:A is my favorite among the games you mentioned but I would probably recommend Layton if you haven't experienced the series before.

Btw, there is an entire thread devoted to 3DS recommendations:

Thanks for the replies! I've narrowed it down to 3 titles. Thanks for linking the recommendation thread ill have a look trough that. Seems my thread searching skills are flawed...

I was hoping to complete the JP baseball puzzle and Monster Hunter puzzle while at E3 last week, but the turnout for JP 3DS StreetPasses was incredibly low. I received a few JP Miis, yet only two of them had pink puzzle pieces that I needed. Most of the E3 StreetPasses were from California, and even then the turnout was low compared to prior years at the show.

I'm guessing the lack of any console launch meant that those in Japan didn't feel like flying out to the show. Had no problems completing the puzzles on my NA 3DS though.

What do people spend their coins with if your puzzles are complete?
Since I'm about done with most the other games too. Find Mii. Once you get the hire heroes option and have access to potions you can burn through play coins very quickly. Buy 2 wanderers, 2xlevel 7 Mii of same colour (22 coins, I think). Pair up the Miis to kill most things easily use the wanderers to buy potions to bring them back (8 coins a use). I tend to stop after I've spent about 60 coins or I hit an elemental room (in which case I hire the Miis needed to clear it so my next queue can fight).

Curse gas is an annoying piece of junk mechanic in that game. I guess it is better when I'm only 8 coins away from another shot at it.

I'm saving them up for the next puzzle(s).

We're coming up on the 1 year anniversary of the release of the Mii Plaza DLC games and I'm personally hoping that we will get an expansion or update some time this summer.

Given that E3 was completely Wii U focused, I'm also hoping in general that we're going to get a 3DS Nintendo Direct blowout. It's really shocking to see how barren the 3DS's release schedule is for the rest of the year. Smash and Pokemon are obviously major releases, but you'd have to expect that we're going to see at least 1-3 additional full priced titles between now and the holidays.

I didn't streetpass as much at E3 as I would have liked, but I was very shocked to find that not many people at E3 bought the DLC. I would have expected a lot more.

Anyone have any suggestions on why my streetpass hasn't worked for months? I've met 10 people and welcomed them into the plaza, used them for the mini games etc, wireless switch is always on and streetpass shows as running on the main screen when out and about.

I've read about a 10 mii limit but that's only for streetpasses at the gate, and I've not had a single hit since I welcomed my tenth mii.

Pretty stuck now, any ideas?

Have you tried changing your hat? There's a glitch where this can happen, and switching hats fixes it.

Finished all current puzzles, waiting for more. Feels good man.

It seems to me higher level characters are less likely to be affected by curse gas, but it is annoying as hell.

Many of Find Mii 2's paths require two or three traversals to obtain all the hats. I think this works out to 10 full traversals of Find Mii 2 Secret Quest at a minimum to unlock everything...

Has anyone made a chart for which paths need how many traversals?

It's annoying that I almost never get a Fantastic rating from anyone except for my kids. I give everyone else that rating. I guess no one cares except for us GAFers.

This is interesting. Just about every single person I pass more than once gives out "Fantastic!" ratings. I always assumed we were all just happy to have other 3DS fans around.

The only reason I give out okay ratings instead of fantastic is because I accidently click it because I'm usually just mashing A. Sorry I guess.

Yeah, I think everyone's given me a fantastic if I was able to pass them multiple times.

I think this is most of it. Also:

People I street pass with once >>>>>>>> people I street pass with twice >>>> people I street pass with more than twice.

You need to pass someone at least three times to get a fantastic and that almost never happens for me.

Why would anyone ever not give a Fantastic rating?

My sister passed someone who had worked a rape joke into their greeting (eg "[blank] totally raped [blank]" style of dominance "joking"). That person did not get a Fantastic.

mashing the a button to get through text and accidentally just say someone is ok. it happens to me all the time.

Also I've done this and I always feel terrible afterwards!

They really should make Fantastic the default option.

I wonder why that rating feature even exists anyway. There's really no point in collecting Fantastic ratings since everyone always gives them out anyway. It's pretty pointless.

We just got back from vacation and two of the Hampton Inns we stayed at were apparently not in Nintendo's table of routers. I got multiple singleton street passes throughout the evening (lots of kids around) but not six at a time. The third Hampton Inn was in the table because I got six street passes right away.

Yes, I logged in (using the web browser) and was able to surf the web on the 3DS at all three Hampton Inn locations. And all three locations made the Nintendo Zone app pulsate.

The bummer about Street Pass in general is it seems a lot of people don't bother to play the Street Pass games. Puzzle piece availability is very low.

I hold down the R button to speed through it (reading quickly) so it stops when I get the rating question. So then I choose Fantastic, press A and then continue with R.

When I pass someone for the second time, I get the rating question. So they don't get my response until they pass me for the third time?

I'm surprised at how many people I pass multiple times using my Homepass Relay. It is really neat seeing the different countries pop up.

For me, it's annoying with Warrior's Way when I mash the button and greet someone peacefully when I should have battled them. I also made the mistake of absent-minded battling someone with 10M soldiers when I should have greeted them peacefully. Uggh.

On relays I've received fantastic ratings after my first pass with someone which I found it a bit unsettling (due to the nature of relays it is possible to pass someone without them passing you).

The issue is that it's not the only thing that stops you for a prompt; anyone you're eligible to give a Fantastic rating to, you also have to dismiss the prompt to give them a personal message first. This is the prompt many people are skipping absentmindedly.

And yes, that is correct, it is the third pass in which the Fantasic rating is passed back to the recipient, barring relay shenanigans.

I still don't understand what the point in cheating the system with faked relays is. It just makes every achievement completely meaningless since you're not actually spending the effort to find people in the wild. I managed to fill in all 52 regions of the US legitimately, and that's not something I would be proud of if I cheated my way through it.

As a parent who lives in the suburbs and don't have a lot of time for gaming, I'm ok with cheating on streetpass. Still, even with the relay, I don't have all of the US filled up (missing about 8 states). It's also cool that I'm slowly filling in other countries like Japan & France. I'm happy that it's enabling me to experience what streetpass is all about. You could also say that it's cheating because my kids have 3DSes so I'm always getting streetpassed by them. I always have a couple of level 7 Find Mii heros or Monster Manor heros with 5 pieces to choose from instead of always getting level 1 characters.

As long as you're enjoying the game/experience, that's all that matters. Hats off to you for getting the 52 states the regular way.

Surely the discounts on the streetpass plaza games this week is a prelude to the announcement of the next batch... right?
