3DS Streetpass Experiences

A nasty side effect of getting SMT4 is that I actually have another use for my Play Coins. You can use them to undo your last battle when you get a game over, and while the save anywhere feature means it's normally best to just take the game over, there's been a couple of times where the last time I saved was an hour or more ago, and I just sucked it up and took the coin hit. I need to git gud at SMT4, or else risk my precious puzzle pieces...

I was looking at the regions for streetpasses. I noticed that I don't have any from China, Russia or the former countries of USSR, South East Asia (other than South Korea), Africa, India/Pakistan, or Middle East. Has anyone gotten one of those regions? I thought by using Home Pass I would eventually come across someone from there but so far, no.

With Monster Manor, when do you get S type weapons? Is it on the higher floors? I think I'm on Floor 18. I have a few As and some Bs. I got rid of my Cs & Ds weapons.

So what strategy do people use with Monster Manor in terms of inventory? I have 1 weapon of each type and some +8 badges for strength/defense. No potions because I try to guard well.
At some point, I might swap out a weapon to use the magic paint or a potion if needed.

Regarding S-Rank weapons, don't fixate on the letter too much.

There are two top-tier weapons for each element (for ten total). These weapons can only be obtained from gold chests. Depending on their stats and skills, they will display as B, A, or S Rank. The letter rank simply indicates their overall strength, which can be increased by leveling them up. If you have one of the 10 top-tier weapons, you can actually see it go from a B rank to an S rank as it levels up. There is no restriction on when you can get these weapons.

Here is a list of all of the weapons:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/3ds/625899-streetpass-mii-plaza/faqs/68662

Within that you can see which ones are the top-tier weapons. Focus on getting gold chests and getting a top-tier weapon for each element to start with.

Regarding your inventory management question, I think that you have the answer. One weapon for each element and then fill the rest with badges. I personally always used Master's Badges and Rockhound Badges to boost my experience and gems.

One more note: badges stack, so it is a good idea to shuffle your inventory around for the major boss fights. The major bosses don't have elemental weaknesses, so pick your best single weapon and fill the rest of your slots with your best badges.

Thanks for the tips. I didn't know that the bosses don't have elemental weaknesses so I'll have to remember to pick a single weapon next time.

I never found myself running low on gems so I never had a need for the rockhound badges so I would just convert them to gems.

Right now, I have about 20K gems so it seems that I'm all set as I only use the gems when upgrading a weapon. I'm more selective on which weapons to upgrade now.

I didn't quite explain myself in that first post; I was specifically referring to the boss on the 25th floor and the boss on the 50th floor.

Those fights are legit difficult so it's worth keeping some extra badges in your box and not simply grinding them up.

I have 1 person from UAE (though I found them in Japan). No map of course.

I don't think 20,000 is a lot of gems. I remember being able to eat through that amount in seconds.

Also, as mentioned previously, bosses do have elemental weaknesses, aside from the major fights are floors 25 and 50. I've generally done fine without exploiting them though.

How did you use up so many gems? I haven't figured out what the cost is for upgrading a weapon. I noticed that sometimes it's cheap and other times it's more expensive. Not sure why yet.

The most important thing is getting the timing for blocking down. You can also block with B.

I don't have all the mechanics down but upgrading better weapons (whether better by rank or level) is more expensive. I think my main weapon (the one that carried over from my last playthrough) is a level 27 Thunder Hammer.

That knowledge would have come in very handy when I attempted playing on my old 3DS with broken triggers.

That's certainly true, but the issue I was referring to is that the relative difference between their HP versus yours is absurd. Even with a maxed out weapon, the final boss fight takes forever. And they have the ability to kill you in a flash if you lose your rhythm for dodging.

Mind blown. Holy shit. I got all the plaza tickets and never realized.

I don't remember it taking ages. I do remember it being stupidly easy.

New EU puzzle, and a really weird one: Nintendo Pocket Football. Only 15 pieces (none of them pink) and it's very disappointing:
it's just a static screen with no animation which you can zoom in and out.

Yay

I was expecting Chibi Robo :( It is also the rightmost puzzle meaning it is new. Why would they make a 15 piece puzzle in 2014?

Edit 64 play coins later and the deed is done. Of the 7 travelers 2 had pieces so that was 64 play coins for 12 pieces...

Haha oh wow. I was out for a bit, came home, and one of the Miis I tagged was Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo! His message was even "FIst of the Nosehair".

I'd put him in Tomodachi Life... except I don't have it. I should get it.

Chibi Robo must be soon for us in 'PAL' world! :D

So random the soccer one being a small one and no pink bits, really reeeally odd.

Not gonna complain though. Love me some Streetpass Puzzle bits to collect. :D

Wait, actually I will complain about the lack of Link Between Worlds puzzle and the billion Kirby ones. -_-

Yes. Yes you should.

And holy shit... I never noticed you have a Slough Feg album for your avatar until now. Great band; awesome guys.

Thinking about buying the four other streetpass plaza games. Have all panels and all hats already and now I have 300 play coins with nothing to spend them on. Is it worth it if I can streetpass myself twice a day on my other 3DS?

Puzzle finished, almost every game queue filled. Nintendo pls. Something new.

Same here. Living in London and one short walk in central London = instant 30 street passes. I've done it all ._.

I'm guessing this happens only in big cities though. I can only imagine how hard it is to get so many street passes in a small city.

Haven't been getting many street passes lately (it's not no one's bringing their system with them... maybe due to not giant games being released lately?) I figured I'll leave it at home and wait a couple more weeks for that "first street pass in ages" accomplishment.

What does the streetpass feature in shovel knight do?

There was a demonstration video I saw a while back showing off the StreetPass Arena feature. You basically record a ghost of a 5 second battle to an empty arena, without an opponent. When you StreetPass, you trade ghosts and the battle is replayed with both players' recordings pitted against each other. Whoever predicted the other player's actions better wins.

I like the new Football puzzle, it's pretty novel.
If you scroll whilst zoomed all-the-way-in with the 3D all-the-way-up it's intense!

Oh I finally started getting Tomodachi passes from relay points now.
Seems I have the bug where whichever software is first / the newest doesn't get any passes.
After reading about it I turned Animal Crossing off and on so it's now first and went for a walk. Came back and had four passes for Tomodachi and none for Animal Crossing.
I wonder how many passes I've missed for other games all this time.....

I live in Turkey and I got 4 random passes since March 2011. (I even count myself lucky for that cause Nintendo isn't officialy here anymore. Well, even before distributor left, Nintendo was always a niche thing here anyways)

I got about 30-40 hits from streetpass meetups. And the rest is from my own 3ds' and homepassing. :/ Atleast managed to get my puzzles done, have %100 on my European and American systems, have missing pieces for MH4 on my Japanese systems. I feel so ronery

I hope there will be new games added in the near Future. I finished all streetpass games now (without homepass, yeah!) and I need new hats!

I also can't understand why there are so little new puzzles. There are tons of new games, which didn't received a puzzle. What a shame.

I continue to hope that there is going to be a Nintendo Direct specifically focused on the 3DS sometime this summer. I get that E3 was all about the Wii U, but they're kind of letting the 3DS lag here. I mean, it's bad enough that the release calendar is sparse, but they are even letting other stuff like streetpass and downloadable titles dwindle.

I have around 500. Got a lot from Zelda Symphony Concert and a ton from both Best Buy Nintendo E3 gaming events. Usually get some from my GameStop every now and then. My wife and son have a 3DS, and we have a few spares, so I get street passes daily from them (although the overall number is for the amount of different people)

I'm posting this from the Smash thread:
Captain Falcon Mii today lol.

Pic of the day. Just like in the original game, the Dark Emperor can cause status changes based on a fighter's color. Red types generally get powered up. On a different subject, the Mii Fighter is wearing a Mii Force Helmet.
Any idea what Sakurai could be talking about regarding status changes?

In Find Mii 2's Secret Quest the Dark Emperor doesn't cause status changes, he nullifies them.

I'm not really sure, but the way I'm interpreting it is he's just talking about the fact your colour affects your ability in Find Mii, and this is a special feature of the Find Mii stage. The Dark Emperor causing this to happen in the stage is an ancillary point.

Yo Nintendo Euro where is our Chibi Robo puzzle at?

The ridiculous well they don't have the game yet so we don't want them to have the puzzle thing is stupid enough but now even when we get the game you still don't release the puzzle??

Getting increasingly angry at whoever is in charge of the Streetpass/Spotpass stuff at NoE and their lack of giving a shit/duurhforgetfulness. It shouldn't be hard thing to sort, maybe no one is running it thats the problem. >_>

Kinda stinks... Found out that the accomplishment where you don't street pass in a long time is 30 days... I miss packing my 3DS around, but since it has been quiet lately, might as well do it now before I start traveling.

I kind of miss my Mii games :(

Indicative of how unsatisfactory the present streetpass situation is shown by the fact that I can't even be bothered to take my 3ds with me to London.

It's too heavy, there's nothing much to do with the passes I do get, and I can get two full queues at home anyway.
