3DS Streetpass Experiences

Streetpass has been dead for me outside of Nintendo zones (which I don't get to visit often currently) and even those seem to play up these days.

9 travelers, 2 pieces for the Mega Man puzzle, 0 purple 31/40.

Ah puzzle swap I never missed you :( To top it off there was only 1 monarch to fight as well. The fight 300 monarchs has never felt so close and so far at the same time.

Thank you Disneyland, have all the Megaman pink pieces. Sadly the couple of JP machines I tagged lacked pink pieces for that Kirby one.

Mega Man puzzle was completed at Otakon. JP 3DS is still missing 5 pink pieces from Monster Hunter 4 and all 4 pink pieces from the Kirby puzzle of the month.

Grats on not being a Junior anymore!

7 out of 9 of my morning passes were of people I have met multiple times.

Finally starting to get some regulars.

Not that they are particularly useful these days.

So who's this then?

DcTu8KV.jpgg

He said "Neogaf Forum!" when he came through my gate. :D

Edit: I have no idea why that's upside down. Too lazy to change it.

What's up with the Rusty's game having 3 different puzzles, being region specific (Japan/Korea/US)? Hopefully this doesn't become a trend.

I wouldn't mind so much if the pieces were compatible (and I seriously can't think of any good reason to not make them compatible). It was hell getting the four pinks I needed for the JP variant.

I need all 8 pink mega man pieces.

I get a few tags at work but they don't have any of the new pink pieces :(

Even was at McDonald's and hit a relay on both my units and nothing =(

Ugh, the situation for Streetpass users in Madrid is terrible right now.

The company responsible for providing the WiFi connection to the newsstands (which means 90% of Nintendo Zones in here, the others options being McDonalds and Starbucks I believe) was involved in a huge financial scandal (accused of falsifying the accounts for the last four years) and broke, meaning that we're depending on regular tags, which unfortunately are quite rare :(

New puzzle in North America. "Kirby Fighters Deluxe/Ddedede's Drum Dash Deluxe"

...And holy shit I got a pink piece on the puzzle as my random Spotpass one.

...why would not make sense before ?
The puzzles that came out all at once were a bit weird in that they were for games that weren't on 3DS (like Xenoblade) or for concepts that weren't games (Starlets). Besides those, very few puzzles that were added post-launch have been for things that were not games on 3DS.

When will Europe get the Chibi Robo panel :(

Anyway, 295 Monarchs fought. So close now.

Managed to get 0 Kid Icarus passes from 3 Nintendo Zones. I have heard in the past the most recent game activated doesn't always communicate with Nintendo Zones so I guess keep something useless like Pokemon as the most recently active...

I get at least 5 street passes a day. I have 4 roommates and all have a 3ds; one has a 3ds and a 2ds. Then there are the 6 people at work that have 3ds

If I get a NEW 3DS I might go for the smaller one.

The current XL is the heaviest thing in my bag.

(Hasn't checked the relative weights of the different versions. They might be the same)

relays make doing puzzles doable. just hit a relay at Best Buy on both my systems and got two more mega man pink pieces. Will have 3 total once they tag later!

300 monarchs done. Plaza tickets complete. Celebrated by giving up streetpass battle. I almost want to go through it again with aiming for a low troop count but I think non-owners will leave me in a positive even if I lose to every monarch on purpose (I imagine there is some equilibrium after about 50,000 troops but then you run into the risk of winning or being forced to greet really weak monarchs)

We get another fucking Kirby puzzle yet still no A Link Between Worlds

WHAT THE FUCK NINTENDO

We never did get a Pokemon B2/W2 either. I was happy when XY was finally a puzzle. You're right though, there never was an ALBW one.

Living in Tokyo makes street passing almost trivial as 90% of people have all puzzle pieces or within a week of a new puzzle, they will. If you go to a major train station you will fill up the queue within minutes.

Even When at home I may have my 3ds on the coffee table in the living room and I'll even get a few street passes from people walking in front of my house daily. Oddly enough it's rare to get street passes within Zelda ALBW though.

Well that is lame. I forgot the first time you started you will not fight any monarchs even if there were ones to fight (there were 3 in this case). Also I kind of went from 1000 troops to 10,000 troops with 9 passes (my fault for not checking their populations). At least the Beginarr Kingdom has a mere 4000 troops and is all rock so easy to win and lose against (in future it will be interesting to see when the game scales the troop count, when you hit invade or when you beat the previous foe, I would assume the former if it always tries to give you a winnable fight).

Took my 3DS to the Louvre over the weekend which I figured would be Streetpass mecca as everywhere you look somebody is holding a 3DS, young and old alike.

Well..... I didn't get a single pass!
The 3DS uses wireless to track your position within the museum (using the Louvre Guide) so I guess this disables it. Shame.
All physical copies of the guide were sold out too, I was told it's really popular which I'm glad about as it's an amazing piece of software.

The amount of detail and content is insane, it's one of the most impressive things on the 3DS for sure, despite blocking Streetpass :(

I thought the 3DS connected to other 3DS systems directly. I don't think anything should be able disable a direct connection?

There are two wireless modes. Internet mode and Streetpass mode. You can only be in one at a time.

There are also weird instances of streetpass mode being disable by software. I think OOT 3D and RE:Mercanaries is one. I guess Pokemon XY too but it is always in Internet mode (even if you are not connected to the internet) and you do see PSS passerbys (but no other streetpass works)

Internet mode can be disabled by software too. 3DS sound when playing back MP3 is the only one I know (I think this might be SD card related, MP3 is read off SD card and a spotpass could in theory be trying to write to it at the same time, leading to a performance dip).

Wi-fi hotspots force a system into internet mode (in a sense Nintendo zones can make you get less streetpass hits) with the whole of the Louvre would be in this instance. Plus the museum systems are unlikely to have streetpass Mii plaza set up on them :P

I took my 3DS with me on a whim to the Cannstatter Volksfest Verein Oktoberfest in philly, and just happened to streetpass with a lady who had a full Rococo furniture set in Animal Crossing, which I have been hunting for. Lucky me.

During my trip to the Louvre (which featured my not being able to breath and nearly throwing up in the room where everyone else was looking at the Mona Lisa) I did not use the program (used app on my phone) and got at least three passes IIRC. Remember that one was a Japanese one even.

Just got a 3DS, hoping to pick up some streetpasses on my trip to DC for my college alumni weekend this month... any good areas for that? I got around DC a lot during my 4 years in college there, but never had a 3DS with me, so I was never really able to pick up on that aspect of the neighborhoods...

If anyone is in Orange County, there's an event being hosted by a friend, free Mario Kart 8 tournament, but also many folks should have 3DSs ready for Street Passing

Got 6 tags at the mall today. Only need two more pink pieces for the Mega Man puzzle and all for the new Kirby puzzle. Not bad considering they've only been out a short time. Could probably go relay hunting at a few local McDonald's and get close to done though.

Was randomly browsing the German tomodachi life site today and landed on the Nintendo zone hotspot finder page

and I see this:
In über 1.400 McDonald's ® Restaurants in ganz Deutschland steht Nintendo 3DS und 2DS Nutzern die Nintendo Zone zur Verfügung.

Which basically means that around ~1400 German McDonald's establishments now finally function as a StreetPass Relay!

This is such a great news!

So you may be very aware that the plaza can hold 3000 Mii (hece why it says over 3000 if you get that far). You might not be aware that this limit is broken down like so: Streetpass - 1000, Met by Invitation - 2000 (oddly, the usually detailed operations guide certainly did not)

So does that mean you can't get the acomplishments if you don't turn on invitation and play tonnes of Mario Kart? Not at all. Once you go past 1000 the oldest Miis get turned into Met by Invitation stipping them of their outfit, last played software and level (in fact they aren't even playabe, this is also why you might have a load of those Mii without having invitation turned on). The exception to this is a Special Mii, they just get deleted.

What bought this to my attention is I'm not far above 1000 and noticed when hiring some Miis for secret quest that some were missing. So aside form valuable high level Miis what else did I lose; Luigi's Mansion 2 Miyamoto and all but the last three E3 2013 special Miis (those have now been sent to the relative safety of the Mii maker).

Now I was curious about 2 things. Firstly, what happens if I send my plaza below 1000? Turns out you keep the accomplishment but the BGM reverts to theme 7. Secondly, what would happen when I next let a group through the gate; does it exile the oldest population total number in the queue or only a number equal to the new ones. I've not yet got a group to check (and in no hurry to get one either as level 7s do secret quest better and I'm done with the all the others).

When my next level 7 Mii is under threat of being demoted I guess I have to purge some level 1s to keep my plaza population down. Who knows maybe I'll be done with secret quest by then.

As I near the end of my 2nd round of Find Mii 2, I find myself really wishing the game let you organize your crew that you're sending in before the fight starts. You lose so many units to special rooms if you don't know what colors you need for them before hand.

Hmm, I didn't know that you can purge Miis from the Street Plaza. The only game I'm playing now is Flower Town. I currently have 61 out of the 80 possible plants.

you can send some to the back of the line can't you?

Yes, but in special rooms (Dark rooms, cold rooms, etc), your heroes get scared off one by one until either the right colored hero casts their magic, or they're all scared away. The best way to handle these rooms is to hire old heroes to take out the obstacle before you go out to collect Streetpasses, but if you forget to do this, or get surprised by an obstacle room after finishing off the enemies in the last room, you can easily lose a whole team of nice characters.
