3DS Streetpass Experiences

I've been in your shoes. I've only had homepass set up since last October, and I'm in a very rural area. I have to travel 20 miles away just to find the nearest relay points. I used to play using just play coins for the most part. I got 2 StreetPasses in my first year with a 3DS. Even before homepass though, we had people from Japan and people like Tyeforce from StreetPass meetup groups who put all our StreetPass accomplishments to shame. Are those people supposed to stay out of this topic too?
If he got his passes from other 3DSes or legitimate relays, then why should he? I'm pretty sure that's exactly the kind of activity Nintendo was trying to encourage when they developed the StreetPass system in the first place.

Under normal circumstances I would be completely against using something like homepass myself, but the unfortunate reality of the situation is that StreetPass is made with crowded Japanese cities in mind, not rural America (or indeed even cities in NA/EU) where you rarely get StreetPasses if ever. The alternative for me is travelling 20 miles to town and then sitting in McDonalds parking lots to get StreetPasses which completely flies in the face of the passive nature of the StreetPass design. Without homepass I would be drastically behind compared to the average user here.

So because I choose to use a workaround to get more than 12 passes a month (not counting passes from my own household) I should be ostracized from the GAF StreetPass community?

Regardless of what justifications you come up for it, you are exploiting a system in an unattended manner to achieve an advantage over those who do not do the same. That's cheating. And that's totally fine if you're fine with it, but don't try to pass it off as anything else. And I don't think it's unfair to call for the discussion to be kept separate from those who do not use the same exploits (as it has been until recently), because the experiences are clearly going to be on a completely different level.

With the way International Streetpass Week works with Nintendo Zone / Streetpass Relays, is it even possible to tag more than 6 Streetpasses in an eight hour period even with shifting MAC addresses?

It should be possible, given that during the international StreetPass weeks you can still go from one relay to another as usual with McDonalds or whatever. I'm not entirely convinced that International StreetPass Weeks work on homepass though. I'm not sure.

I didn't think I'd made any brag posts about my speedy progress. I usually posted here asking advice on the different games and how to play them, which is the same regardless of how you get your passes. Recently I have posted more about homepass mainly because I was trying to help some others who were new to it (and I can agree that those discussions could possibly be better suited elsewhere.)

I guess I'll just stop posting here if I'm not welcome though.

I think we're in agreement in what should be posted in this thread and what might be better off kept elsewhere. It wasn't your posts that really set me off anyway.

hope it wasn't me either :/ i've been posting alot.
so I guess talk on how to set it up can be elsewhere or done via PM?

but asking for help/advice on the Streetpass games should be okay right?
that was the point of most of my posts... - Flower Town, Monster Manor, etc :/

Hmm weird - I just realized that the golden medals on the streetpass games mean you unlocked "everything" in that game. My Find Mii (Street Pass Quest) doesn't have it for me, even though I got all the hats. Is there anything else to get in Street Pass Quest?
I have the medal for Mii Garden, yet neither all tickets, all jobs done nor all flowers grown. So the medals seem to be more of milestone.
There are some global plaza achievements for Mii RPG, like doing the first game ten times.

Does pressing the 3ds power button whilst it's closed automatically put it into sleep mode?

The 3DS automatically enters sleep mode when closed. I'm inclined to believe the Power button does nothing in sleep mode, but it might power off the system if you hold it down long enough.

it's gonna take forever to collect all the hats in Find Mii 2 lol...
some of those shields really mess things up

For Find Mii (one), how did you guys manage the Complete with less than 30 Miis achievement?

I just started secret quest.

LOL 10 playthroughs... well... guess I better get cracking

I decided to use a guide to help me through it... because 10 playthroughs is already going to take long enough... can't afford any screwups along the way.

Lucky for me most of those hats are really low priority. I am more interested in a lot of the newer hats.

I burned through my play coins, getting triples of level 7s. Colours should probably anticipate shields, darkness and stuff in their right order.

After you complete it a couple times you are able to spend play coins to hire previous heroes. Between that and having a level 7 that I could streetpass twice per day it wasn't so bad.

I'm at the tower portion of my 10th go in the secret quest so eventually (as the tower section is terrible with level 1 Mii and I really don't want to burn my play coins) I'll find out if it gets the medal once I've finished the game and not started another quest.

As of the latest plaza update holding X on the map will tell you where hats are left which makes it easier.

I'm just pleased when I was doing this I was still passing higher level Miis somewhat regularly.

The Helper Hare makes things a lot easier now when replaying, but you'd have to be a masochist to try and get all the hats without a guide. Too much trial-and-error crap.

How do you medal Find Mii? I've competed it fully (I, II, and II special) I'm replaying them a time to see if I missed anything but I have all of the hats and accomplishments.

Ahh getting a golden ticket daily in Fishing is nice, gonna be horrible when this International Week is through.

Seems like this game will be tough to fully 100%
Are you in the US? Because in Europe at least in Germany we always get hits from other (european) countries through the Nintendo Zone. You don't event get hits from Canada?

Same here in the Netherlands, I always get hits from other European countries, as well as the US, Canada and Japan. This week didn't really change anything for me.

In the US we only get hits from people who actually passed the same relay point we passed. They don't usually mix the relays like they're doing this week.

Nice productive afternoon. Got my StreetPass Theme, Shibata, 29th February(!), and a load of awesome hats, including KK Slider, Resetti, Chibi Robo and Woolly Yoshi. I also completed the NES Remix puzzle, which is brilliant.

how exactly does the hare help?

is there a guide that goes over all of the new changes? I knew about the "X" thing.. .that's helpful

I'm in England.
I used to get passes from all over Europe at relays until a system update about a year ago. This update 'broke' the relays (I think Chopper made a thread about it actually) and I got nothing from them for weeks.
Since then I've only ever had UK passes from relays, up until this week.

I don't think the relays were that successful when working as they were originally intended (as in you only got the data of others who had actually passed that relay) so it seems they opened them up to filter data to and for all of Europe to drive traffic up.
Perhaps now they've switched UK ones back to the old method (there are loads of relay points in England) whereas they've kept others as is in other countries where relay points are sparser..?

I can't land a crit in Warrior's Way for the life of me.

The way I did it - and somehow it worked first try, maybe I was just lucky - was to get into a battle and arrange my troops then use play coins to spy in such a way that I would win round 1, lose round 2, and just barely lose round 3. The critical kicks in in round 3 if you're lucky.

It probably varies by where in the US people are (I'm sure people up North probably get more hits from Canada than those further South.) Like 90% of my hits locally are from North Carolina and Virginia since I live close to the state line. I think the only other country I've gotten hits from locally is Anguilla, which I've gotten on like 3 separate occasions with different Miis. No idea what that's about. There's even a relay at a truck stop/gas station on the interstate and it's still usually just NC and VA with maybe another US state thrown in once in a while. I find I get the same people from a lot of relays though, so clearly there's certain people in my area who do like I do and just go from relay to relay from time to time.

I've gotten a few Anguilla before, too. Is that the one it defaults to if the person selected one maybe?

I like my new Splatoon squid hat! Does anyone else see three blank bullet points for today's hats? Only the squid showed up for me, with a coupld bubbles. Glitchy?

It's the last of the new ticket hats. The next day it showed me the 3 old hats I didn't have yet and one of the new ones I hadn't bought yet. A little disappointing that they added so few.

Good point, 50 play coins though right..?
That many coins should buy you a weeks pass, considering there are four extra islands it's gonna get extremely expensive.

Hey, what are the silver tickets for?

Silver tickets come from people in your country but another region/state and unlock 3 of the extra islands. Gold unlocks all four.

Is there a site anywhere that's cataloging pictures of the speech bubbles? The preview icons are terrible.

Also, I'm getting the feeling some of the medals in Battleground Z will be far worse than the treasures in Mii Force.

Are the Silver and Gold Tickets the only way to access these "extra" Islands?

Yeah, you can get the tickets with play coins or by bringing in people from other regions/countries. Note that the fish are higher level there so I'd be wary of spending play coins for tickets until you have a decent rod and a nice selection of bait.

yea... it seems like Mii Force and Battleground Z are gonna be next to impossible (for me) to get everything :/

and it's a chore trying to get to 300 battles with Monarchs in Warrior's Way

I'll inevitably complete every last thing again (I did grow all flower colours after all for no reason whatsoever) but some of the rare zombies seem annoying.
The hints are way too vague, can't wait for somebody to put comprehensive list together.

ALL THE FLOWER COLORS? whut....
I'm still missing my last three flowers... and two jobs to get Gold for :/

Mii Force is a matter of persistence and luck. When I finally beat Arcade Mode I had been lucky enough to get several light blues and then hired a white and light green to pad it to 10. For the treasures I recommend using a guide, some are evil though.

Once I'd done everything else in Warrior's Way I started just button mashing my way through battles not caring if I win or lose to get to 300. It still took forever but at least required less effort.

Yeahhh... but hey you do get a golden watering can! Which is cool... I guess.
You get a silver one for growing all flowers so you're close to that one.

Thinking back, I didn't finish Arcade in Hard mode on the shooter, so guess I'm at like 99%. I'll get to it one day!

and here I thought I'll be done w Flower Town soon :/
I didn't know there would be a Silver Watering Can...

lol... I can't get a Tall Birthday Blossom
and a Short Lookout Lantern for the life of me
(to get Gold for two jobs)

is there a list of all the pots/deco? lol
