3DS Streetpass Experiences

We had a Play-N-Trade open up in Toronto. It lasted about a year. They had an okay selection of older titles (although nothing like our three main mom 'n pop game shops), but their prices were pretty terrible.

Around here these are my options as far as dedicated game stores go: GameStop, GameStop, GameStop and... GameStop. :/

Took my 3DS out for the second time today. Got nothing at the mall (King of Prussia) or downtown until I was almost home (center city PHL). Blocks from my apartment I met Bob. Thanks Bob!

Looking forward to bringing this on my 1.5 mile walk to work every day. Hopefully as more people get the systems they'll also continue to carry them around.

I took mine out to the Phillies game yesterday and got a hit in the parking lot of CBP. I was hoping for more, but I was still pretty excited when I got back in the car and saw that little green light lit up for the first time.

Got two more repeat streetpasses today, one person I've passed 3 times and the other twice.

So it definitely seems like there are at least a few people headed to SF in the morning during commute hours (when I also head into SF).

But at least thanks to this weekend, I've unlocked three hats and completed two puzzles while starting three more. Hopefully I'll be able to complete them sometime soon.

I'll probably be going to some Phillies games pretty soon, and will definitely be bringing the 3DS with me. Disappointing that you didn't get any in the stadium though.

I'll probably take the long way around the concourse (or maybe a full lap) just to increase my chances...

I am definitely changing how I walk around with this thing - its kind of creepy but also kind of cool. If I'm on one side of the street and I see a bunch of nerdy looking people (or kids) on the other side I try to cross the street to walk past them without looking like a complete stalker.

I also caught myself checking out a conspicuous bulge in some dude's pocket to see if it was the right size and shape
for a 3DS.

How do you start a new puzzle?
You take a piece from someone else who has already started another puzzle. Which, AFAIK, means they are either from another state/country, or have already StreetPassed with someone from another state/country.

I left in the car because I didn't really have a bag handy to tote it around and my pants weren't equipped to handle it. Next time though, the post earlier about getting some 3D shots from the crowd sounds pretty awesome.

HOLY SHIT GUYS I GOT A HIT TODAY

unicorn_rainbow.jpg

Tetsuya from Maryland, hello!

Up to 4 now, most of mine seem to be from commuter points or bus & train stations with one from an electronics store trip.

It's good fun, but now I've got past the initial buzz I'm not going to deliberately hang around certain places to get them. It seems to work best just by chilling in bus/train station cafes.

Either there's a lot of gender confused guys out there with 3DSes or Nintendo's doing a great job marketing the thing to women because 3 of my 5 hits are female Miis.

My co-worker are dancing around each other (the waltz) waiting for our StreetPasses to do their thing.

Pretty sure we're doing something wrong. Everything is turned on, wireless enabled, settings seem all good, too.

Dunno. Work dammit, work!

Maybe you two aren't meant for each other.

I spent a few hours this afternoon in the central area of my city shopping and got three hits. Two from Gamestop and one from someone called "shana". One of the Gamestop Miis had "trade in your games" as their greeting. Mine was worse though, I randomly put in "memento mori" as a greeting. It was kind of horrific seeing these little animated dudes waddle up to my Mii plaza and wave and my Mii standing there with a big grin on his face reminding them of their mortality. Should probably change that before I head out next time.

No. You should definitely keep it.

That's great.

They've infiltrated Mii Plaza? There's no stopping them now...

Try squeezing them together while each system is pocketed, and rubbing them together lightly. Sometimes you need to jiggle them a bit too. This also seems to work better with a lot of witnesses.

In all seriousness, did you make sure to boot up the Mii Plaza and get your settings right? And your WiFi lights are both on? Sorry if those are dumb questions, but I walked around for hours hoping for hits before I realized I hadn't enabled StreetPass in the Mii Plaza settings yet. I've also gone out Mii hunting and found later that I had my WiFi disabled, possibly from flipping the physical switch by accident.

Got home today and saw my 3DS had, for the first time, its notification light on. I picked up 4: 1 for SSFIV 3D and 3 for Mii Plaza. One of them was when I was browsing the Apple Store in Cardiff.

Got two hits yesterday. One guy was a level 2 for the Find Mii game...anyone know how it determines level (does it go by how many people your system picks up in a session?)? Also got to start a puzzle that wasn't on my system initially, which is cool.

Wait, is there only one puzzle per system? Do you import other puzzles from other systems via streetpass as well?

Levels are determined by how many times you pass a person. So if you get a repeat passer, they'll gain a level in Find Mii.

There's 7 total puzzles (105 total pieces), if you StreetPass with someone who has a piece from a panel you haven't seen yet (and then select that piece) you will be able to see that panel from then on.

I've completed all the puzzles already, hope they add more via system update.

Ah, I was wondering how many puzzles there were. Okay, then I only have four more tiles to grab before I've totally completed it.

I got a hit whilst in the car the other day. Totally surprised me! I spend a long bus and train journey going to and from work, getting nothing, then randomly whilst sat in the car *bing* green light!

Anyway, I attended MeetMii's first meeting at the Trafford Centre in Manchester, UK on Saturday. Report can be found here, for anyone interested :)

Went to Gamestop in Carrollton, GA today and set up the Streetpass on the demo unit with my roommate. Seems like I'm getting desperate on getting Streetpasses right now.

Also saw a guy in class with a 3DS, but I guess he didn't have Streetpass set up or his wireless was off. I'll make sure on Wednesday to tell him to turn it on.

Went to Gamestop and I was sad that I didn't get any passes. The clerk talked about his for a bit but I guess he didn't have it on him. It's my fault for expecting anything from a 10:00 AM visit on a Monday.

Got another hit today. All of mine seem to happen while I'm in the food court on campus. One day I just need to chill there the entire day and see how many StreetPasses I can get.

Finally got the two systems to communicate, when we weren't paying attention.

A watched pot never boils, it seems!

Brought it to the Marlins/Mets game in South Florida this past Saturday and not one hit ANYWHERE. I was very surprised.

But I got my first hit today at my college campus. Good times.

My brother got a 3DS today, what's to stop us Streetpassing daily until we have lvl.7 versions of each other meaning we can just blow through Find Mii?
I don't want to do this btw, I just think it'll get annoying that we exchange each other every time we both switch wireless on. Is there anything that stops this? (besides blocking each other which would obviously be a crazy thing to do)

Heading underground, through a major train station/subway concourse, then through a mall (including a rifle through the GameStop bargain bin). Wonder what my chances are...

I had 8 Street Passes today! Holy shit! Only one was with a person I knew before. Two of them were Street Fighter Street Passes.

Great stuff!

I feel like I'm trying to show off every time I whip out my shiny new aqua 3DS in public to check SP or play a game.

But naturally, I suppose I am ^_-

Bingo. There is not much tech hotness these days now that iPhones and iPads are about as common as McDonald's so 3DS is definitely it.

Got another 6 people's Miis today. And 2 more SSF4 battles! One of the battles was with the same guy from yesterday. I'm owning him! I love this thing.

You get to select your prefecture, or just Japan itself.
ok, it looks like most of the guys I got are probably Taiwanese. Just one guy is surely Japanese because of the hiragana he used.

Got three more guys today in Taipei, woo woo!

Got my first Streetpass today! Took my 3DS with me to a shopping centre and ended up getting the Mii of the guy who served me in GAME. Pity I didn't get his more attractive female colleague :P

It's genuinely exciting to walk around trying to scope out in advance who you think will be carrying a 3DS.

I got two more this morning. In the past two days I've had 10 street passes. Big change from last week when I only managed a couple from the same person.
